How about Hippo, Skullcandy and other less popular types of brands for that price?

Need to think clearly. nod.gif

hippo is great too, can try and buy at jaben. stay away from scullcandy, the price is not cheap for a decent iem. if read anywhere on the net, most audiophile not recommend scullcandy, it famous because of the design only not of the sound quality.

Skullcandy is a big joke for audiophiles. The sound quality it produces is even worse than monster beats. sweat.gif
Hippo is a great choice for it's price..however I think that u should give a try to Brainwavz which calmshot recommended. They are less popular here because there was nobody bringing in this brand previously.
I've once tried my friend's Brainwavz M1..they are really good IEMs. I am now waiting for the arrival of M2 too brows.gif

- what you currently have (mp3 players, amps, soundcard etc)

Currently having laptop, but maybe will consider mp3 for the future~(sigh, this forum has too much poison, cry.gif )

- what type of usage (movies/ gaming/ music etc)

Mainly music, then movie and least is gaming

- source (i.e. flac, mp3 etc)

mp3 at the moment but maybe FLAC for future.

- type of music listen to (classical, jazz, metal, etc)

All type

- personal requirements like type (closed, open, cirumaural, IEM etc).

Headphone/earphone~
But seem like headphone is better in performance and comfort right?
Thx to all the sifus~
Currently eyeing on Superlux HD330 since the thread says that Superlux is great and cheap~
Other suggestions are welcome and my budget around RM200 plus minus~

Yeah. I seen that often too. Unfortunately, I'm not around KL so it's a bit hard to find/test IEMS. :/

i need 2 recommendation, one IEM and one headphone so i can choose..

can you recommend me a good IEM & headphone
source : netbook, desktop, Nokia Xpress music (file format : MP3,Flac, Wav)
Usage : Music - Universal, mixture of rock, pop rock, heavy rock, pop, house music, jazz.
Budget : min RM120 Max RM 150
Portability ? Not an issue, but yes if possible so i can bring along when i travel along or even wear it.

btw i have expereience playing around wif EQ's, so i maybe searching a good flat IEM/headhpone, if i ever need boost at bass, mid, or trebel i may tweak at my own. So far my research i only stumble upon Hippo Pearl(wuy do u think?). anything else? also may be looking to buy amps/DAC in the future, just to let u noe.

Looking for a portable amp!

Currently using Shure SRH440 headphones with an iPod Nano 4th gen (may upgrade to a Cowon S9 unless someone can recommend something better)
Needless to say it would be for music listening.
Source would be mostly FLAC and may add some mp3s.
I'll be listening to mostly Rock/Alternative/Acoustic stuff, but some R&B, Electro, Techno etc etc as well. (pretty much almost anything except those commercial pop stuff)
Portability is a must as i'll probably be bringing it around.

Budget around RM400 but i wouldn't mind paying extra if i find it's worth it. biggrin.gif

My hippo box+ paired kinda well with my shure srh440, if my memory serves me right. The mids become fuller and add abit bass too, if u want that. And it's only around half of ur budget, try it out. laugh.gif

I guess if they sound well enough to you, you can save a whole lot.
Yeah, I guess E7 is a well enough choice. smile.gif

If u were to get Fiio amp, E7 is the only choice. E5 and E3 are definitely not capable enough to drive ur srh440. I have tried pairing E5 with srh440, and its like degrading the sound of it instead of improving it.

E7 wise, it is a neutral sounding amp. And the srh440 itself is a neutral and flat sounding headphones too, I don't think they will pair well although I've never tried before. The decision is on u, see whether u're looking for a neutral or coloration improvement. For me I will definitely choose some amps that are more musical and fun to listen to. smile.gif

some add-on : E7 works as both DAC and amp, if u are using it with ur ipod only, I think it is better for u to get some standalone amp which is the same price but has better quality of amp.

Hmm i'll probably end up going to Jaben and try 1 by 1 lol.
Yeah i was reading up on the E7 and the probability of me getting it is now relatively low lol.
But yeah i do find that the bass for my SRH440 is a bit lacking. So an amp that could boost that a bit would be great!
I read that Hippo Box's bass boost is negligible though. Hmm..

Any other suggestions? biggrin.gif
