Sorry, can't help you explain other brands.
what i can share is,
I've been using Sony MDR-EX500SL.
The sound is Bassy, clear and warm.
been using it for 3 years now.
Have tried others but still prefer ex500. it is more comfy.
thanks for the explanation, wow tat 500 series cost rm300-400 range or did you get a cheaper source? mind to share?
i have a MDR-EX55SL, this ear phone is way too bassy, the bass is not solid, untill the extend i find it covers the treble/clarity of the singer voice. i am not sure if this happens to all the bassy earphones, as i only have this pair of ear phones right now.

I just bought a Shure SRH440 and I can tell you that if you're looking for ear phones for your portable mp3 player, Shure isn't the way to go. They're quite heavy and more for home use. I've also tried out Koss Portapro and a couple of AKGs and you should definitely consider these.
The AKG K420 is slightly above RM200 and is fantastic. The Portapro too. Contact E1-AKG (David Lee) for help with these. He's a really nice and helpful guy.
hi ooj,
thanks for your advice, but i prefer ear plugs, as i find head phone is a bit troublesome for me in the train or bus. have you ever come across any good ear plugs that positive comments on the clarity as well as the bass performance?
