Hi Guys,

I am noob in Earphones, so i need advice and some clarifications from pros here, i wanted to get a pair of ear phones for my mp3 player, budget RM200~300, i am looking for clarity, and of coz.. if comes with good bass it will be really good.

I have been reading this thread from page 1, and i find that the brand you guys were discussing are realy different from the conventional brand like sony, philips, panasonic and bla bla...

i see from the reply, i think the one that siuts me is Shroom EB, but i am not sure of the performanc ecompare to the conventional brand like sony MDR-EX300SL/B, philips SHE-9800 (my fren intro) they are of the simillar price range.

can you guys tell me how well does these kinda brand work:
- Hippo
- AKG
- Shure
- Crossroad
- Sennheizer

would like to get a pair of good ear phones within my budget.

Thanks Guys!!

Sorry, can't help you explain other brands.
what i can share is,
I've been using Sony MDR-EX500SL.
The sound is Bassy, clear and warm.
been using it for 3 years now.

Have tried others but still prefer ex500. it is more comfy.

I just bought a Shure SRH440 and I can tell you that if you're looking for ear phones for your portable mp3 player, Shure isn't the way to go. They're quite heavy and more for home use. I've also tried out Koss Portapro and a couple of AKGs and you should definitely consider these.

The AKG K420 is slightly above RM200 and is fantastic. The Portapro too. Contact E1-AKG (David Lee) for help with these. He's a really nice and helpful guy.

thanks for the explanation, wow tat 500 series cost rm300-400 range or did you get a cheaper source? mind to share?

i have a MDR-EX55SL, this ear phone is way too bassy, the bass is not solid, untill the extend i find it covers the treble/clarity of the singer voice. i am not sure if this happens to all the bassy earphones, as i only have this pair of ear phones right now.

hi ooj,

thanks for your advice, but i prefer ear plugs, as i find head phone is a bit troublesome for me in the train or bus. have you ever come across any good ear plugs that positive comments on the clarity as well as the bass performance?

erm any suggestion for cheap, good sq iem under rm100 for jogging? Used to run with my ue700 but I think that's the reason for it to broke down lol bye.gif So definitely not gonna make the same mistake again.

I've been looking at klipsch x1 but I don't really see anyone talking about it here. Any suggestions? Must be comfortable to wear and preferably small too.

Hi, im looking for an IEM. Budget <RM200 (or + 50 max)

Im using Samsung's P3 mp3 player, so i think a good quality IEM will be good.

Im now using stock earphones, and have never tried IEM before.

Prefereably able to be used for jogging, and taking naps.

I have read about Hippo Shroom EB, Hippo boom & creative ep-650.

Im kinda interested in Shroom, but the review said its not comfortable or good for running.

Can you eccomend me anything?

Thanks! rolleyes.gif

Thanks, is it comfortable? I also read from the clieos review that the wire seems not so durable, afraid when I jog with it, it wont last long. Is that true? Does jaben sell the earphone?

Hi there

Sony EX300 for me is toooo bassy n muddy. exactly wad u describe " too bassy, the bass is not solid, untill the extend i find it covers the treble/clarity of the singer voice"

not all bassy earphone/headphone would like this, if the headphone produce quality bass, it won`t cover up the mid and high.

Hippo Shroom-EB have a good clarity with it nice price, at the same time the bass is good enough too. but don`t expect the bass would be boom boom boom biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Try search the review of "Atrio" it is a quite bassy earphone but at the same time give the clarity too.

I'm reading mixed reviews. Some say that the bass covers up other sounds quite a bit. Some say they can hear things they've never even heard of in their music when using the Atrio.

So which one is it, does it reveal details or cover them up?
Nevertheless, I'm still buying one next year. laugh.gif I'm getting myself one of the bass kings of IEM!! drool.gif
