Dear David,

china‘s unlimited speed champ recently forming a layout at his workshop...

does having a lower car height helps in aerodynamics? like the a F1 car..

cuz like F1 they have 'almost-touch-ground' height so that it could cut through air and produce downforce for the car.. correct me if i'm wrong hmm.gif

the downforce comes from the wings of the car . its been said if the f1 car can move fast enough , you can drive upside down .

lower car is not = to beter speed.
a properly setup car with the right choices in tires size , rollers, and angle = to better speed.

win . but then lower the car , its a bit more stable .

hmm i thought without diffuser also a lower car could cut through air better than a higher one... and yea like sonic said more stable cuz less air will travel underneath the car..

there is two kinds of main kinds. one is teh cover is low. one is the car is physically low. Eg. Go see jap speed frp cars. most are not lowered. in-fact most have a high ride height due to the 35mm tires they use. but they use low covers . Physically lowered cars are difficult to get right , but if u get it right there are advantages . ( im talking about MS chassis ) .

btw its is not stable because of the air under the car. it is the lower center of gravity.

Added on September 18, 2010, 10:07 pmbtw using f1 as example not really that great if u are talking aero dynamics. F1 cars a highly complicated and most times their aero body work comes in packages. Just the diffuser alone , it is only a very small part of it..

i tot the diffuser meant to make the car stick to the ground ? ah heck , goota make one min 4wd wan and see .. and test on a speed track . lol

diffuser help streamline the air coming from under the car. its create like a suction. will kep the car stuck to the ground. at least thats what i think it does. i might be wrong

hmm hmm.gif maybe mini 4wd just rely on good aerodynamic body i guess...

i think is better to do aerodynamic for decreasing air resistance when moving forward... however, i don't think aerodynamic producing down force will suitable for mini 4wd( speed car).

1. F1 need it for corner, because F1 using steering to turning corner... mini 4wd using track to turn, so why mini 4wd need downforce to corner??

2. if you study more, you will know aerodynamic might produce downforce, over done will slow down the F1 car on straight...do you think you wan't your mini 4wd to slowdown on straight?

3. racing is all about balance....

4. i actually let my car high let the air go into the bottom...also, the cover actually produce lifting force, in this case, i no need to cut a lot from my car... the lifting force help to reduce the weight...and i can maintain my car strengh...

If you talk about aerodynamic for mini 4wd, i think this is better and more useful for mini4wd... speed car only... jump car might be diff story...

i get what you mean .. if the car body is correct , it will generate lift making the car lighter and thus moving faster ?
