Sigh, after a tumultuous texting and emailing furiously between me in KL and my "transporter" in London, only manage to get 2 x 16GB iPhone 4. I'm very disappointed that the Apple Store does not honor the 32GB reservations that I've made, and instead pushed the "only left these, take it or leave it" attitude. What is the point of reserving if the reserver end up being treated like the hordes of crowd who are walk-ins? Bad form, Apple UK!

Either way, I'm accepting it as it is, and will be part of the purchasing folks for the Australian iPhone 4 launch next month. Plans and contacts are standing by in Sydney, and I myself am prepared for the worse for the Brisbane trip at the end of the month.

The other 16Gb iPhone 4 goes to Beavis for all the help he's extended to me all this while, and also his future commitment for me to help on the iPhone 4 purchases when I'll be in Sydney next month. I am still hanging on to the 32GB 3G[S] until I can get the 32GB iPhone 4, so for the first time, instead of just an iPhone, I'll having in my possession, 3 iPhones of varying sizes and models. Crazy, but yes, situation dictates it as such.

Will be making the trip to the airport tomorrow to pick the two iPhones with Beavis. Probably be making our first FaceTime call there too. tongue.gif

Stayed up for all this mess, time to get some rest for tomorrow. *Excitement is only 50% since I only get 50% of the expected size*

There were 32gb in stock in Westfield. Was suppose to get another 32gb but the person who wanted it asked me to exchange to 16gb. The person standing in front of me booked 16gb but wanted 32gb so i just switched with him. Shouldve just got the 32gb lol.

I bet your transporter must be furious with the Regent Street queue tongue.gif I heard it was still that loooooooong at about 7pm and people who are behind the queue were given a card to collect it from store 2mr. People started queueing up on the queue to queue up for 2mr morning lol.

THe major flaw is where apple introduces getting contract at store. A contract signup can take around 45min - 1 hour and this affects the line a lot.

If you want to get the contract phone why not just walk in to the mobile provider? My colleague walked in to orange shop and got his iphone 4 in no time and its just around the corner at Oxford street lol.

Furthermore, the one on one experience is really unecessary and wasting a lot of time. I would prefer fast checkout rather than having one on one experience asi need to get to work after getting my iphone.

I talked to many people who is out of the queue and mostly are complaining about the amount of time wasted on the one on one experience. We just want fast and simple.

Sorry to rant here as i woke up 5am in the morning jus to queue and only got back at 11pm. I am not really excited to get my iPhone anymore. I havent even have a chance to play with it... (due to work and queueing lol)

The point is, why bother with a reservation system, if you don't plan to honor it? They also botched up the whole line for preordered/reserved folks by doing that one-to-one personal shopping session nonsense for every single person who preordered. That just delays the whole line down and last I checked with my "transporter" there, there are STILL people who preordered in line who has yet to receive their iPhones when the doors closed. WTF!

They should have not needed to do the one-to-one personal shopper session, with the crap like switching plans and telcos and setting up contacts and recommending apps. I can 100% BET that almost ALL of those who are crazy enough to preorder this early and braved the long line is hardcore enough to know how to do these trivial things like setting up contacts and choosing which apps they want. Apple should have just dealt with the line by asking what version/model the person in line wants, usher them to the counter, take their cash/credit, bag it and be done with. That would have made the line move faster, with no fuss. They should have just offered the Personal shopper session to those who WANTS one, and even so, that should be done at a secluded corner of the Store away from the lines of crowd whose intent was to buy the iPhones and get the hell out of that crowded mess!

Either way, the reports were true. The demand is crazier than the last two launches, and I can only surmise the same will happen for the July launches. I just hope the other country launches learn the lesson here and speed up the purchasing experience on theirs.

What a mess!

btw, i tried facetime with my colleague just now over wifi. nothing too fancy. we could have probably done this few years back with nokia 3G phones. laugh.gif

I guess apple just wanted to let the customer feel that they are being treated well after braving the long queues. but it slows down everyone!

anyways, the people who queued in regent st were given a coupon so that their reservation are still valid 2mr. However, the queue will be another long long queue and probably worse than today as most of them are starting to queue up tonight.

I wouldnt want to imagine the queue 2mr. I was lucky that I manage to wake up early this morning and pick it up after doing research on previous events (iphone 3g/s and ipad) as my initial plan was to collect it during lunchtime which is totally out of question as i only have one hour for lunch.

I'll pass being an early adopter, take my sweet time until the hype is over.

However, tesco offer seems very interesting too. £20 for 12 months contract + 349 for the phone, best offer for the phone, but seeing Tesco on the phone screen, is a bit weird. What'd you think?

erm yeah.

i would never go for tesco (despite their cheaper deals)

when i was there, i steered away from three as well.

though i'm not sure how has their network improved since i left.

So is the iPhone 4 in UK out already?
Can I ask my brother in the UK to buy it for me, and will I be able to use it in Malaysia with a Maxis sim?

Thanks!
