Mostly people are sceptikal about this guy, but there are some truth in it... or all of it.

Nostradamus Time !!

In the year 1555, Nostradamus, wrote the following verse, given in the original Old French: The verse, part of his prophetic writings, was designated as Century I, Quatrain 29:

Quand le poisson terrestre et aquatique,
Part forte vague au gravier sera mis,
Sa forme étrange suave et horrifique,
Par mer aux murs bien tôt les ennemis.

A strict translation can be given in these modern English words:

When fish and other land and sea life,
By force will be put upon the beach by a strong wave,
Its form will appear strange, oily and horrible,
Coming by seawater very steadily it shall climb the walls as an enemy.

This refer to Gulf of Mexico Oil spill..

It may not be the Oil Spill at the Mexico Gulf. Could you explain the last line which make reference as enemy.

"Enemy" .. i could say enemy to the nature or "enemy" to the people, and the take up "weapon"(shovel & bucket) to defend the shore line..
Ill put it that way in my term.
The crude oil do kill wild life, fauna and livehood of the people and seafood they eat.

Even so, it still more hits than miss but i think the miss part is something of a small event. Even science cant explain the unexplain. So science just theorise anything and everything. Science is not all 100% perfect.

can you show me a single instance where the book predict something that will happen in the future that we dont already think will happen?

BTW a scientific theory is not guess work.

Seriously though, I stopped believing in Nostradamus 11 years ago. He PROMISED that on July 1999, Mars would eclipse Saturn, multitudes of angels would sound the trumpets of war so loudly everyone would fall deaf, and I wouldn't have to study because Armageddon would be at everyone's doorstep.

I almost screwed up my exams thanks to him. Thanks a lot Mr. N...

Now, the Hopi's Seventh Sign? That HAS to be the oil spill, right???

Right???

I still it may refer to something else. Shovels and buckets are not unfamiliar weapon equipment to Nostradamus.

Smith, I am sorry to hear Mr. N screwed up your academic life. While I can accept some of Nostradamus stuff, I believe when the end is near there is no need for dooms day prophets to preech it. Everyone will know it instinctively.

But in order to make theory work, they first need to guess it. Even the study on dinosaurs they depict it all in reptile skin but after a few year they show some of them with feather and fur.

You should understand how people talk back on those days, even people back in the old days speak something which they cant discribe is a bit funny or confusing. So they make up things like (eg.. an Airplane. If you are a person behind century, you could call it "BIRD GOD","IRON BIRD","THUNDER BIRD","SILVER BIRD or etc etc". You will focus on flying, so word to represent is bird, discribe colour or sound to add the looks.

That's the point.

Sure, he COULD be talking about the GOM spill. But he COULD also be talking about eldritch abomintations spawned from H.P. Lovecraft's mind. Given Nostra's choice of words, it could mean practically anything, and still be considered to be an "accurate" prophecy.

Usually the creatures in touch with nature will sense it. Human and domesticated animals are not in touch with nature. When we see more and more animals acting strangely we had the instinctive feeling its comming. Big bang will happen if there is going to be one big explosion.

Back to the topic, I dont think Nostradamus predicted the end of the world.

If its a monster, hell sure know how to say that as in "Oily Beast/monsteah with 8 tentecals and eyes glow like red gem" or other. Term as in old century possibility. Century ago there is no oil drill from sea and he is not a sailor so his knowledge of sea happening is limited to shore and seashells.

That's assuming he wanted/was capable of being this descriptive.

Then why would he say "it shall climb the walls as an enemy" if was an oil spill? Shouldn't he say something like "it clung to to the sands of the beach, like paint on a canvas". That does not require "knowledge of a sailor" either.

He did not predict "the end of the world". But he predict the EVENT of the world. Still never once he mention the world ending but after chaos.. a Good new beginning. WORLD RESET !! Like any other nature. Same as people plant rice paddy, they need to burn the old and plant the new.

Those are my thought too, Smith.

I think this is another event. Just wait on it miri. I am sure this event will unfold in due time.

What do you expect from a high educated philosopher in old age century. Should that he wanted to discribe somthing "evil" or could harm humans but in term he also want to put it where high educated person in his time like the The Queen and other high rank people to understand him. Must be in those days, education are limited to high rank people and not for country folk, slaves or maid.

If he predict it and you are unable to desipher it, still it will not make any difference until it happen.
