Then that brings back to my original point. Why describe "8-tentacled monsters" when "oily, scary and creepy" would do just as well? (And fit almost anything else that is oily and strange).

And I'd think that highly educated people would want a MORE DETAILED explanation. Not LESS.

Try to find and see the event today and Nostradamus prediction. Almost simillar is accepted as topic. Its not a 100%, its a guess.

1.) Iran Nuke and U.S/U.N sanction (What happen next? You know Iran President did WARN them)
2.) After effect of oil spill ( Oil is not 100% clean off the ocean)
3.) South Korea VS North Korea over sunken Sub. ( HOT and READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE )

did Nostradamus predict this before it happen or you just find the interpretation after the fact?

Maybe on those day when he is still alive, he told them that the event will occure in the next century, by that time they all would have grown old and die before the time comes! So they dont care about details, but they rather claim him as Sorcerers/Devil and intrest in burning him due to religous belief at thet time.

What about those that NEVER came true?

You're playing with dice. Go to a casino and follow a seasoned gambler around and bet alongside him. If he wins 3 times in a row, do you go worship him as God ? What about his previous attempts in screwing up and lost ? Did you dismiss that because what's most important that he has won enough to convince you ?

But I do pity people's shallowness that caused him to be condemned in such a this way. What do we expect, those were feudal societies.

Why should it matter what other people care about? It was Nostradamus HIMSELF who wrote those quatrains, not anyone else! Either he was coerced/bribed to write them vaguely as you suggested, or he did it on purpose. Both of which rendered the validity of his prophecies moot: Why should something "strange, oily and horrible" be definitely an oil spill, and not something else?

Nostradamus was not english educated person, he was a french men. So interpet that to english might sound weird. Maybe he did predict it before it happen but im no nostradamus and i cant see the event what he sees through his eyes. Same thing as you dream and you tell me but i still cant get the picture of your dream except what i think according to your statement but still not 100% until it occurs.

If a small oil spill, its a clean-up and get back to work style. But if its a big oil spill like the Gulf Oil Spill, its a disaster never been seen, eye-opener, can be found in the prophecies book and etc etc.

2.) There is a hardcore gambler (in Discovery Channel that talk about Nostradamus prediction) did try out this attempt of using dice and predict his winnings % to show nostradamus a phoney. He FAIL in predicitng his own winnings and place it on LUCK. Prediction on a big book requires a LOTS of luck.

3.) He never provide details because of a reason. OPPURTUNITY !! He did predict the King's death. If in those times they can see the event before it happens and change it, you will see us nowadays as a whole nation of a world.
