wanna ask, what song you all normally used to test speaker?

and how you test the bass accuracy?
*
for the bass, use a better speaker or good headphone / iem as reference. the problem with most (especially) PC speakers are the subwoofer placement. you can use tone generator from 100hz and below too and compare it with the reference.

Will XtremeMusic give any significant improval to my C3, other than bass boost? :hmm

it depends on your expectations and your current onboard audio. if your onboard is pretty good the difference may not be night and day. some onboard have terrible output and of course adding soundcard will definitely improve.

it should be using Realtek ALC1200. no idea how good it is. if you can get dedicated soundcard at nice price you should get it.

i used to run a pretty basic x-fi compared to onboard im using now. problem with multiple speakers and multiple PC setup (laptop and desktop), i finally gave up x-fi and stick to onboard atm.

well it depends on you... i think the OEM version of XtremeMusic would be very good buy. you're gonna pair it with Edifier C3 right? it should give a nice bass boost since C3 bass is weak.

it looks similar like Logitech R20, which i have played with before. not so bad actually, much better than Sonic Gear EVO 3/5. but with the same price i can get edifier M1310 (during that time) which sounds overall much better than both.

Cause I think mine have 1 year warranty~
smile.gif
This only improve the bass?
If sound card/amp improve bass and speaker?
Poison coming in again~

your speakers already has amp, adding another amp could destroy the speakers.

your best bet would be trying to get better soundcard. but do not spend too much on speakers at the moment, you better off upgrade to better speakers if your soundcard cost more than your speakers.

oh ok so those normal 2.1 system without standalone amp also gets hot la? just that we dont feel it coz its in a wooden box right? hcs2330 should be ok to operate in my room right? coz i no aircon...& malaysia weather is hot sometimes....i scared overheat only... hmm.gif
btw between these models all which is the best? hcs2330? i will be using it for songs (rap, r&b, linkin park etc) & some fps gaming like mw2, battlefield etc....

edifier s330/s330d
edifier hcs2330
edifier m3300sf
altec lansing vs4612

i tried reading the previous post some member recommend the s330  hmm.gif
*
I also scared my speaker overheat so I add some fan. but I don't think any Edifier product suffers from overheat problem. so don't worry.

QUOTE(infernoaswen @ Apr 18 2011, 10:09 PM)
i see....btw did they rename the hcs2330 to c2 plus? why? did they add any new features?  rclxub.gif
*
I don't think they rename it. it's just some of us here (especially me) like to say it as C2+ instead of HCS2330. because it is very similar to C2 so people will understand easily, that it is a enhanced version of C2.

Edifier MP300 papertube

i've been using small rolled paper as 'papertube' for MP300 since back in 2007. what a shame now only I've been able to upload an example of it, done in MP300+. the function of the papertube is to lower the bass so it's not very boomy at around 80-90hz. not only it makes the sound better but it makes the subwoofer goes deeper as well. a very good subwoofer for 2" size.

1st question: I m quite confused. so they rename hcs2330 as c2+? (can someone mind to explain the differences)

i finished reading this whole thread already (of course not all, got scan few parts also la). so what i have concluded is this (correct me if i m wrong):

Edifier hcs2330    -clarity but not enough bass.                                              rm269
Edifier S330D      - have clarity & bass (good as c3).  Good for songs.            rm419
Edifier c3            - clarity & good bass. Good for movies & songs.                  rm399

my main use for this speaker is for songs (mostly rap & rnb), some gaming & movies (but will usually use my logitech g35 for this).

2nd question: My room is quite small, so i think hcs2330 will be more than enough right?

3rd question: C3 wins in everything but price is a little more but what i would like to know is what is the difference between C3 & S330D? (i know C3 got separate amp but they both provide good bass & clarity so what is the differences)

thanks all, i m a newbie in audio. (first time buying exp speakers  laugh.gif )
*
1. no. as i said, me and other forumers only use terms C2+ for sake of simplicity because it looks exactly like C2, but more powerful.

2. how small is your room? unless it's very small it shouldn't make any difference between the 3.

3. no, C3 does not win in everything, but it's one of the most natural sounding so some people prefer it. not to mention the cool looks.

the difference can be heard if you listen to it. as far as we recommend things it's up to you to decide which speakers to get. if you cannot listen to any of these speakers at any store then the best bet would be describing what kind of music you listen and what type of sound you like i.e. punchy bass, soft bass, dominating vocals, crispy cymbals, detailed sound etc.

since you said you like r&b and rap, C3 has a weak bass, so you should consider it. between HCS2330 and S330, it's up to you to decide which one to get. i personally haven't really heard HCS2330 but i've heard S330 many times. it has a boomy bass and crispy treble. so if you like it go get it.

Edifier burn-in tool doesn't work in Windows Vista and newer. just use burninwave generator. it works the same.

Oya, perhaps it bridged or parallel,
but it do drive the C3 sat to the 70% of C3 amp max power, which is to me is impressive. all from USB power, but again, dont complain about it quality,

0: going to do some experiment with those amp someday,
always dream about to build an amp run on 2 AA battery since form 3.. haha,
*
possible bro for your M1250. just get one 2xAA USB charger and connect it to your M1250.

something like this:

i have one very similar to that but Uniross brand. it has USB female output, perfect for your M1250.

Yea, the LED on the amp also start to dim when delivering full power sound. well, its just usb powered, i dont expect much.

About my dream, i think i already drift far away from my dream, now studying in health care, final semester.. had to digest all the stuff i had learn, and vomit it all on the final paper, sweat.gif  hahaha.
Well bro, good luck on your exam, me too. hehe thumbup.gif
0: i already done that before, party hard at the bus stop waiting for the damm bus. rclxm9.gif
but i want to make something else, something that hand made@DIY, make em into component speaker perhaps? with wooden housing(plywood will do haha). doh.gif
*
haha, remind me of my modded M3300. become one-piece system after assembly. actually what i wanted is to create a portable 2.1 system with rechargeable lithium batteries. the 12V lithium batteries itself can be bought online, but speakers that runs on 12V DC are limited. so far for edifier i know is the MP300.

anyway, anybody here use fan to cool their edifier speakers?

i havent got my speakers yet, but was thinking if the amp gets hot then i will put a 120mm fan & mount it at the small holes. thinking of pulling 1 molex cable from my rig to outside the casing to power up the fan....or maybe can mount more than 1 fan. hahaha thats what i was thinking off la...will see how hot it gets when i get the unit  biggrin.gif
*
actually for Edifier speakers I am pretty sure they have a very good cooling circulation. I am yet to see any overheating Edifier speakers while many have plagued Logitech Klipsch Creative even sometimes Altec Lansing.

i believe 120mm fan at 12V (molex) would be enough to cool your speakers. I am using 80mm fan only at 5V yet it really helps to dissipate lots of heat from my logitech and altec lansing subwoofer.

erm, it would be wise to salvage the laptop cooler, it dont provide strong airflow but it almost silent to meh, run on usb power, and.. if u lucky, could get it at Rm5... haha
Btw, anyone know where to get a cheap subwoofer speaker? car sub is expansive,
or i just use  4ohm full range speaker as subwoofer? hehe,
*
yeah but rather than use cheap laptop cooler i usually re-use cheap 80mm atx fan and power it with USB 5V so it run at much lower speed and thus more silent too. no more worrying leaving speaker 24/7 because sometimes even when idle the backplate may be warm. with that fan the temp drops significantly...

btw u using C3? maybe can try hookup to car subwoofer with same impedance. but of course the price of the sub and enclosure might be close to C3 already...

lol ignore that guy... he dont bother to learn to post in forum properly throughout the years. he's very happy with his z5500 despite blowing it few times and ask why should it blow when played at 100% volume and bass. doh.gif

if you want good bass just get true subwoofer. i see one THX Ultra 2 - 12" subwoofer when tuned correctly can produce 130dB @ 30Hz, 122dB @ 20Hz, 112dB @ 15Hz 1/8 space, 1m. sub and amp priced at 10x the Z5500, but even 30x Z5500 will never ever match its sound. i seriously can't imagine 112dB 15hz sub,,, can crack a ceiling in my place probably.

How to define true subwoofer?
hmm.gif
P3060 consider as one?
I felt the bass a little bit cover the vocals and music instruments though~
*
i don't think any PC speakers can be considered as true subwoofer. lol again, our purpose is to listen from PC with relatively near distance. im pretty sure if you have pretty good subwoofer you wouldn't be listening in front of it.. i don't know how to define, but probably those who can reach 20hz in reasonable dB will be considered as true sub. i don't find any PC subwoofer which can do 20hz.

if you think P3060 bass cover the vocals that's because it may be tuned too high. for my R501 i must set the bass at default (middle) and use foobar to reduce some bass. my old Edifier X300 also tuned too high, i must not set the bass knob beyond 75%. Edifier MP300 also tuned too high for me, must use rolled paper at the bass tube. that's mainly the reason i decided to try other computer speakers brand such as logitech creative altec lansing klipsch so i can see which one i actually prefer...

that's my opinion.. you can try foobar to reduce, and reduce the bass knob. or use toilet paper roll for the subwoofer port like what power911 did before. i actually also did it, but in my case i only managed to get it working right with bandpass subwoofer.

the oni certified  is only by me ...  biggrin.gif

haha, if to be used at home without insulation i believe it will definitely be a earthquake at such volume. yala, no need THX cert. only for show off only. especially if you have 5.1 surround speakers and your friend come visit you. just play the bluray THX trailer lol.

haha sure thing bro. ohya it remind me of the drinking bottle cap which i use (with blutack) at the bottom of subwoofer as feet. i used hemisphere rubber and chair leg guard (both from daiso) previously but then i realized there is free alternative which works just as good.

what i like about them is that i can easily slide my subwoofer, conveniently lift up heavy subwoofer (because my fingers can slide to the underside) and of course slightly less vibration (which is still noticable), all at virtually free cost. probably just need double-sided tape or little dots of blutack.
