Halo all,

Plan to get a 2.1 new speaker for my laptop.

Consider to choose Edifier brand.
-Budget RM150, can topup a bit.
-Not require a loud speaker to boom my house, But I need a high and quality bass. I'm a techno and trance fan.
-Size, colour, shape, does not matter. Even it looks ugly, I more on the quality
power911 and metaloid suggestion me Edifier m3400/e3100.

I need more suggestion as well as reviews. Thanks all.

Just want to check with you guys. Is it alright if I mod my stock speaker cable to a 12 AWG cable for my soon to be Edifier S530D. Will be purchasing S530D soon and was thinking to change the speaker cable to a 12 AWG cable. Is it possible as I do not want to damage my speaker. Kindly advise me. Thanks!
*
no mods required... just change... like plug n go

it is also recommended to change the provided 3.5mm to rca cable to a better one tho

Same here. My first speaker was some unknown speaker. Later got conned into purchasing a brand called Tsunami that cost me RM100 plus plus. Was really a noob during those time.
*
my COBY cap ayam speakers cost me RM90 only... but honestly this speaker is ridiculously good compared to all cap ayam speakers available out there. it is also so much better than Sonic Gear XD

with only one fine tuning to the port, everything sounded ridiculously awesome for an RM90 speaker XD
the subwoofer sounded like an 8" subwoofer, just that the loudness is physically limited

I mean I started to addict with edifier H500. My first speaker is not edifier, it should be a creative passive speaker come during the pentium 1 era. Ai... I am old.
*
chill... we know the h500 is a headphone XD

I'm now Officially a Edifier owner !

My review on Edifier M3400

It's so heavy(8.8kg) I carried from Lowyat to my house  sweat.gif . Ok, honestly, M3400 looks simple yet great sound quality. The woofer was so wonderful. But the woofer covered with black steel, I can't see the woofer bumping. sad.gif  When I try puss the woofer volume to the max, "woo woo woo' sound occur, but it's ok to me  thumbup.gif .

Thanks to power911, Edifier, Cosef, kko217, will92 and all Edifier fans for guiding me to get this wonderful speaker !
*
give your m3400 several hours of run first... maybe like 3 hours of music per day and do it like everyday for 50 days? your wish smile.gif
don't force the speaker to play loud music when it is still fresh cuz damage may occur
also don't play music for like 6 hours or more for the first few runs cuz that will also damage it

once after enough exercises... your speaker should be free and it should perform much better than new icon_rolleyes.gif
and congrats for getting a suitable speaker system for yourself :claps:

you can remove the front grille by using a screwdriver to pry it open. just be careful not to scratch your beloved speaker XD
you can go find for tutorials on youtube on how to take the m3400 grill off
just search (how to remove logitech z-2300 grille)
the trick for logitech works the same way for the m3400 woofer

Alright noted. Thanks for all the helpful tips given. Guess i'll go for a m3400  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
do get a decent soundcard to pair with the m3400 though.
as I have suspected the mids and treble are muffled if you pair it with a bad source

Ok bro, I try to Burn-in it. I need to study about burn-in as well. I'm wondering what's the propose on burn-it  hmm.gif
*
burn-in is a technique to loosen up the suspension of the speaker a bit
when they are fresh, they felt too stiff
after some time of burn-in, the suspension is at the optimum strength and it is at it's perfect point icon_rolleyes.gif

it's like footballers (or any sports you can think of). they need to warm-up first before actually playing the real game or their muscles will strain and tear
the same thing goes to speakers/headphones but instead after burn-in it'll play good for a very long period

Top up to about RM420. you should be able to get yourself a Edifier S330D or either Edifier C3. Both are great speakers. Go and audition yourself. If you must strictly follow your budget, then give Edifier M3300 a try. The bass may be weak, but you're able to install some software or either get yourself a external soundcard and you got ourself a nice speaker with great bass. M3300 clarity is awesome. Give it a try.
*
you can also get R501MKII for that price too XD

wow lol... so many ppl shoot at one go tongue.gif
