QUOTE(madfag @ Sep 22 2010, 10:48 AM) unfortunately, essien wont be in it. but i have faith in our young guns. they are good, they just need the confidence to play their game. |

well, hopefully josh will take over lampard's number. im not being racist but i think an English club should have an English captain. hopefully in the future he will captain the side. but then again, if he is shy, whos going to bark at players like whats JT doing now

QUOTE TACTICAL BRIEF newcastle is fielding in a pretty strong squad from what i can seeBoth managers have warned supporters there will be many team changes tonight. Carlo Ancelotti has announced already that Daniel Sturridge, Gael Kakuta, Jeffrey Bruma and Patrick van Aanholt (who became popular while on loan at St James' Park last season) will start. Ross Turnbull will have a chance to prove himself in goal as Petr Cech joins those rested ahead of the difficult trip to Eastlands for Saturday lunchtime, who also include Ashley Cole, John Mikel Obi, Michael Essien and Didier Drogba. Johhn Terry is fit but Frank Lampard will not play. Less involved senior members of the squad are likely to have an opportunity to stake a claim for starting more regularly, notably the star of Žilina, Yossi Benayoun, and versatile left-footer Yury Zhirkov. It is too soon for José Bosingwa to return. Carlo Ancelotti has never competed for a trophy without a safety net, though, and may have some big guns on the bench. Hughton has already confirmed that utility player Ryan Taylor will start in place of suspended right-back James Perch. Alan Smith, Jonas Gutierrez, Sol Campbell, Shola Ameobi and Peter Lovenkrands are also likely to figure. Highly-rated target man Andy 'Avatar' Carroll and attacking midfielder Kevin Nolan, in a withdrawn forward role, have both impressed this season but may make way. Eyes will also be on roving midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa following his blistering winning goal at Everton last weekend. His counterpart on the right is usually winger Wayne Routledge. Newcastle also have Joey Barton in their squad. Young goalie Tim Krul, who came on for crocked Steve Harper against Everton and did not concede, also turned out for the reserves last week (pictured below). He conceded three times to Chelsea Reserves in a home defeat. (United's only alternative is 20-year-old Swede Ole Soderberg.) |

(L) Carling: Chelsea v Newcastle United
Carling Cup 2010/11 Third Round: Chelsea v Newcastle United live from Stamford Bridge, London, England. * Showing Time23 Sep 2:45 am ( 115 minutes ) From the website...early today rumors flying around MU Camp that in the Decoder's Guide...our game will be live..now also stated in Astro webpage.. SQUAD STATUS QUOTE ANCELOTTI: THE YOUNG ONES WILL PLAY Posted on: Tue 21 Sep 2010 Carlo Ancelotti will give some of his youngsters the chance to prove themselves against Newcastle United in Wednesday's Carling Cup third round tie at Stamford Bridge. The manager confirmed four of his emerging talents - Jeffrey Bruma, Gael Kakuta, Daniel Sturridge and Patrick van Aanholt - will start against the Magpies as he rests a number of his established names with big Premier League and European tests to come over the next two weeks. 'It is a good experience for them to play this kind of game. They are involved this season more compared to last season and when there is an opportunity I want to give them the opportunity to play and show their quality.' Despite the club's ambition to win all four competitions we are involved in, Ancelotti feels there will be plenty of opportunities through the season to involve the younger players and give them much-needed exposure to first-team football. 'They were involved in the last games, Sturridge played in the Champions League, Kakuta played two games, Bruma played in the last game against Blackpool and they will get more opportunities to play,' he confirmed. 'The Academy did a good job in the last years and now we have the young players ready to play in our squad. Obviously against Newcastle it is important to win to maintain a good atmosphere here but the most important thing is that these players can show their quality for the team.' While the young lads will want to take their opportunity for a run out, others will be making the most of a night off. Ancelotti has confirmed Ross Turnbull will replace Petr Cech in goal, while Ashley Cole, John Mikel Obi, Michael Essien and Didier Drogba will all be rested. 'Some players we had involved in the last games and I will give them a rest to prepare well for the next games,' said the Italian, thinking of Manchester City at the weekend, followed by Marseille in the Champions League and Arsenal next Sunday. One key figure is likely to return however, while another's enforced absence continues. 'JT is fit to play and maybe can play tomorrow for 45 minutes which could help Bruma, but Lampard is not available,' he said. This post has been edited by Ichighost: Sep 22 2010, 06:58 PM |

Most probably the media doesnt know much about United's history.
Actually the term man u is referring to the Munich incident. Kind of insult to them. |
