Most probably your PC failed to detect the Streak ?? Check whether the Dell USB drivers re installedThank If you upgrade to Stepehn's rom, it will be auto root , saves you the trouble Added on February 27, 2011, 12:07 pm QUOTE(acbc @ Feb 26 2011, 09:25 PM) I'm on stock Froyo 2.2 and rooted but phone always hang or reboot every 3-4 days doing nothing. If I reboot the phone manually on Mon, it will be stable until Sunday. Go to recovery mode and just clear the following:- cache partition - dalvik cache reboot Your data will remain intact. Has face this issue before. Doing this solve it. This post has been edited by benny888: Feb 27 2011, 12:07 PM |

Actually I want to test stock rom 318 and 322, how good they are by using it for daily use.If you upgrade to Stepehn's rom, it will be auto root , saves you the trouble |

Try this - extract from my blog : Several users at Spore forum follow this and updated me it worksThe following need to be downloaded and installed on the Windows PC : 1. Android SDK : http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html The software will be auto installed. Locate the folder where it is installed and execute the SDK manager.exe 2. Download and installed the Dell USB Android drivers : ftp://ftp.dell.com/Handheld/R288920.exe On the Dell, Press Camera and Power until you see a white screen Press the touch screen on the top right (Fastboot), the screen will than show ‘Wait for USB FastBoot detect….’. Wait for about 10 secs Connect your phone to computer using the USB cable. The screen should display ‘FASTBOOT_MODE’. If you do not see this message , you will now have to manually force install the USB drivers : —-> Go to device manager (Control Panel>System>Device Manager). View “Other devices” there should be a “Android 1.0″ device with a yellow warning symbol Right click -> Update Driver Software -> Browse for the driver -> Let me pick -> Show all -> Google, Inc -> Android Bootloader Interface. Ok, Next, Next, Yes I’m sure, etc. Until the drivers have loaded. Now when you check (Control Panel>System>Device Manager) you should see an “Android Phone” section with the “Android Bootloader Interface” Once this is done, you will see “Fastboot_Mode” displayed |

Stephen has updated to 1.8.1. Just upgraded this morning on top of 1.8.0 - so far very good, very stable no issues/bugs noted
Recap my experience: Update 1.8.0 on top of 1.5.1 : still face issues of suden switch off - twice in 3 days; need to pull battery to power back. On one day over a 2 hour period I noted sudden reboot but reboot was successful. I started facing such issues since 1.7.0 Next, Did a factory reset twice , at clear data/factory reset and factory reset - reinstall all apps manually : Did not face anymore sudden switch off and reboots ( if any I didn't notice ) My conclusion : still stick to doing a full cleanup of cache, dalvik and factory reset and reinstall apps manually. Hope my install of 1.8.1 on top of 1.8.0 with existing data stays good |

QUOTE(Hico @ Mar 1 2011, 10:47 AM) still need rm2099 Stephen is working on Honeycomb port. His last tweets seems to show good progress. Anyway he has openly declared he will get this working on the Dell Streak and will skip Gingerbread. However his last few roms started from 1.6.0 he has builtin some GB features and in v1.7 he has added and deleted some.benny, will this fon support honeycomb? Dual core or 5" screen - just decide based on your needs. Your next best alternative is the duo core Galaxy S II ( 4.3" ) |

I bought the Streak solely for one reason , that is the 5" screen. I was ready to forego performance though than the reviews were not great. I seldom use phone functions - biz communications heavily on SMS, email . So the TAB was a great gadget for me. As you have said , once you use a bigger screen device, very hard to get back to a smaller screen. For my phone needs, I divert all calls to my mini 15 year old monochrome ancient Nokia. Pay RM 10 for a newer battery to get it working again. BTW the DEll Streak is still a great smartphone - I don't regret buying it. Holding off selling it as waiting to test Honeycomb on itdell streak battery can last for 1 day and compare with tab issit longer or shorter battery life?? BTW I have bought two additional batteries : A mugen 1800 and a generic replica. So battery is never an issue. Battery life on the TAB beats the Dell at least 2 to 3 X more I order the SGS II , again purely just for testing - seriously not to be used as a regular working smartphone . Doubt it will be in my hands long This post has been edited by benny888: Mar 1 2011, 12:07 PM |

QUOTE(Hico @ Mar 1 2011, 12:24 PM) hmm..looks like streak still worth to own Don't see much difference between the two. The Streak seems slightly snappier but you don't really see it unless compare ; I'd just say is microscopic . I used the same set of apps on both. Only difference is homescreen launcher. I use Zeam on TAB and ADW on Streak. As said earlier, the Streak is a great smartphone, with Stephen's rom is even better than the HD2 ( on various Froyo roms), outclass my previous Galaxy S, just a point or two below the NexusOne. |
