1.7.0.  Still faces problem , maybe cause I'm still on basement 315 . Random reboot once or twice which require batt to b pulled n auto reboot if I turn on gps
*
If it random reboot successfully it is still not a big issue. Mine was an auto shutdown and cannot power back on. Have to pull out battery. This is no good as one doesn't look at the phone everytime. Didn't realized until got a sounding from my wife twice quering me why I switch off the phone when I was out of the house ??? - how to explain to her ?

But this issue I noted seems to affect earlier rom versions too but I never faced it till 1.7.0

Those apps which you cannot download from the free market can be downloaded from the paid market. There are also many free apps in the paid market. To access paid market:

1. Root your phone
2. Download from market MarketEnabler or MarketAccess
3. Launch the app that you hve downloded
4. First tab in app : backup your telco settings
5. Next Tab - select telco to simulate - just choose TMO USA. MarketAccess - just tap on it to execute. For MarketEnabler, hold down your choice you see popup windows - select fake provider
6. Launch Market - you will now have access to paid apps market

If you wish to buy apps - you need to setup a google checkout account first :

First, you need a GMail account. If you don't have, just register one at www.gmail.com.
- Browse to Google Checkout : https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogi...<mpl=default
- Sign in using your gmail account and you will be guided accordingly to setup a payment system using your credit card

YouTube videos : Tubemate - free app

If you are referring to full length movies - my advise use computer download is better and faster. I find not practical using a phone as not only it takes longer , battery usage will just shootup. Just copy the downloaded movie file to the sd card

Already 4 days on baseband 322 and 1.5.1 - extremely happy with it. Never face previous issues of Dell suddenly switch off or sudden resets . If there were sudden resets possibly I am not aware of. I have been using the Streak for the past 4 days fully just to assess the combination of 322 with 1.5.1. Before that it was neglected, rarely used after I bought the Galaxy Tab

Hi there,

Yeap, current unlocked version of Dell Streak is compatible with our local data plan and you can use it right away. If you are buying from me, the warranty is from Dell US and have to send there. My last experience, you will get a new replacement instead of waiting for repair. But the downside is, the cost of shipping there is RM100 and I'll bear the shipping back to Malaysia. The expected turnaround time is 3-4 weeks.

Thanks

First of all the phone is not outdated compared to present range. Do not compare it with all the new offerings coming out over the next 2 months. Than all the present smartphones are outdated too

You can just go to any of the smartphone threads in here - there are praises and unhappiness. Tell us what you want top do with it ; then we can better advise you whether this is suitable for your needs. The word is NEEDS not wants

There is still no warranty but being DELL, you can registered for warranty at Dell Msia - the post to do this is in the early pages of this thread. I'll not encourage you to consider this if you are concerned about warranty. Those of us here who uses this phone knows warranty is a risk we have to take upon ourselves to handle. You can purchase from Spore as it is officially available there. If you wish to purchase from any of the seller here at forum lowyat , ask them how they can assit you on warranty claims. There are 2 types of sellers - will assist to help you to claim and the other is just sell/forget u guys

I do not know how experienced you are as an Android or smartphone user - but just let me give you my 2 sen opinion of the Dell Streak based soley on my NEEDS not anyone else needs after having use a variety of smartphones. Most are mine , others are my children. I rate a 10 for BEST while obviously a 1 for hopelessly useless

Google Nexus One : 10
HTC HD2 @ Android : depend on roms 8 - 9
Galaxy S : 5
Galaxy Tab : 9
Dell Streak : 8.5
HTC Desire : 9.5
iPhone 4 : 6
iPhone 3G & 3GS : 5
Nokia E71 : 8

yupe...tethering and mobile hotspot are feasible.

my opinion is, response is of course not as smooth as iphone / ipad. But you won't really feel it unless u compare it next to each other. The speed is always there, with the 1GHz processor i think it's more than enough. iOS devices are still the best in terms of responsiveness, but for the advantage and "completeness" it has over iOS, more than worth it.

i agree with Benny, depends on your need, not wants. If u need >2 multi-touch, go for iPad. Dell Streak support only 2 touches. Also, if you use it to play drum (example: Musical Lite), there's a lag in response. U can't play like a pro drummer tongue.gif
