Damn. How I wish I have nice creamy bokeh like Viking's 50 F1.0L
Instead I have the 50 1.8 with really harsh bokeh. Look at the region around her head. ![]() I know, I know, not a very good picture technically, but just wanted to show the harsh bokeh. Shot on a 5D @ F/2 btw. |

Next upgrade, Sigma 50 F1.4 HSM QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 19 2010, 03:02 PM) Looks like a Blackhole behind trying to suck her in. It's got a funny swirling kinda look in the middle. Damn weird. Yeah, very weird and harsh bokeh. |

QUOTE(GoodMorning @ Jun 19 2010, 09:55 PM) Hi all, need some advice, i owned 24-105 and 10-22. Been offer for 2nd hand 17-40. Worth to buy? or get the 2nd hand 70-200 F4 IS ? now still got 1+2 ? Since you already have the 10-105 range covered, no point getting the 17-40L unless you're gonna upgrade to FF. Get the 70-200 F4L IS. |

QUOTE(GoodMorning @ Jun 19 2010, 11:16 PM) Hmm I've used the 17-40L on the 5D and I can tell you the distortion @ 17mm is quite bad too. Not sure how it is on a crop though. But according to Photozone.de's tests, the 10-22 has less distortion @ 10mm then the 17-40L @ 17mm on a crop body. |

QUOTE(creap @ Jun 20 2010, 01:52 AM) Guys please advice me on something. I'm here shooting a lot of wildlife and the 55-250mm isn't giving me enough range. I'm planning to get a 70-200 F4L IS + TC (not sure 1.4x or 2x), please shed me some light. You do know that with the 70-200 F4L + 2x TC you won't be able to AF unless you have a 1-Series body right? If there are other combo out there to get better reach, do let me know as well. Budget around RM4k. Maybe you could look at 3rd party options, like the Sigma 150-500 OS HSM. It's around RM4k if I'm not mistaken. This post has been edited by pengster: Jun 20 2010, 01:56 AM |

I only use Live View when shooting at odd angles. Other then that its the viewfinder all the way. If I wanted to use the LCD screen to shoot, I would have bought a compact, not a dSLR.

QUOTE(ginolo @ Jun 20 2010, 04:01 PM) im more concern to the image output rather than viewing in view finder or on LCD, come on, there is nothing wrong either viewing in which tools, they both serves the same function. Its just like driving an auto or manual car, i dont see whats wrong with that. I'm just saying la, chillax. QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jun 20 2010, 04:14 PM) QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 20 2010, 04:15 PM) Yeah me too, seldom use live view unless I can't reach the angle. Else, viewfinder all the way and it rocks! Same here. That and when I'm using my manual focus Nikkors, to check accurate focus @ 10x |

QUOTE(jaycee1 @ Jun 20 2010, 07:42 PM) Too bad the "only" reason to use live view during event shooting is for odd angles...unfortunately the screen doesn't swivel/pivot. Kindda missing the point. most of the time I just shoot blind. Yeah, I really miss the full pivot screen of my old Canon S5 IS, before I upgraded to the 40D. It's soooo useful I use a lot of Live view for studio product shoot, the 5x/10x magnification is great for fine manual focusing....where its on a tripod... I agree, besides odd angles, I also use LV sometimes for product shots/shots when the camera is on the tripod. |

QUOTE(ianho @ Jun 21 2010, 12:40 AM) Ya 1st Tamron lens to get it is the 70-300. Damn boring. They should release some f2.8 lenses with USD soon. Give ppl an alternative to L-coholism. lol If they come out with the 70-200 F2.8 VC USD, now that would be really interesting. Just like the Sigma 70-200 OS HSM. |

QUOTE(creap @ Jun 21 2010, 02:38 AM) i'm actually thinking of 70-200 + TC, with that lens, cropping would retain the sharpness as compared to the 55250, does it make any sense? Yeah, it might retain sharpness, but then you only get an extra 30mm on range with the 1.4x TC. It's like no difference compared to your 55-250 @ 250mm But my heart is now leaning towards 100-400 L reco by viking The 100-400L is awesome, but its about rm6k+ for a new one. Used one might be in your budget though. |

QUOTE(sunnyboy @ Jun 22 2010, 12:49 AM) thanks for your guys feedback, now finally i shortlisted the body to 50D, but then some fren said if get 50d...why not get 550d, can shoot video. Yeah, the 550D is the entry level series from Canon. 50D is one step above and the 7D is another step above. So on and so forth. what u guys think? beside the recording feature, 50d vs 550d....wat's the diff? 550d is entry level like 450d? The 550D is good if you want to explore the video mode, and don't need the 6.5FPS / more solid build of the 50D. |
