Another issue is when I was recording HBO HD, I could only watch the worldcup channel1 HD and other channels though indicated on the PVR STB but only remains in either HBO or the worldcup channel...

Try restart your decoder and leave it standby for 5 minute. Decoder will update automatically and hope solve ur problem.

You can only control volume on decoder if u using RCA composite cable. Below are example of RCA cable.

Just try on NGCHD or HBOHD to test 5.1. WC also produced 5.1 but buzzing sound will make rear sound not so clear.
