If i have Astro HD-PVR, what would happen to reserved space of HDD if it's not for "Video on Demand"?
Just a big waste I think. Astro B.yond V5.0, NEW WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT

QUOTE(azrin_kiko @ Jun 6 2010, 12:53 PM) Asstro should stick with minimum 8Mbps bandwidth for optimum HD quality. It means maximum 5 HD channels per transponder. But whos know if they reduce a bandwidth right? |

QUOTE(azrin_kiko @ Jun 6 2010, 10:42 PM) I'm impressed with DirecTV HD services: Yeah quiet impress. Only USD10 + USD7 per month. Wow really cheap.1. 130 HD Channels and 30 more coming soon. 2. HD 3D in no extra charge. But... 1. USD$10.00 per month. (promotion: free now) 2. Pay for the decoder upgrade if you subscribe to Choice package except online applications but free with Choice Extra and above. 3. HD DVR USD$7 per month BTW, I think is not fair if we want compare UK/US TV pricing fee using our currency. If here our salary is RM2000, in UK their salary also 2000 pound. Not 285 pound. |

QUOTE(azrin_kiko @ Jun 6 2010, 11:44 PM) I think the DirecTV satellites must be like a football team to cater hundreds of Channels, too many channels in one provider... Until the user had to install 2 dishes for HD and 2 or 3 LNB's Can't imagine how big their HQ office. BTW, HD service for Direct TV is totally free. |

QUOTE(AstInst @ Jun 7 2010, 12:27 AM) While I am on Lowyat (I have been busy in South Africa preparing for the World Cup, the 3D is amazing!) I thought I would mention about the Stacker Destacker that we first used in the UK. 3D is fantastic. How about it bandwidth? |

QUOTE(whatsupbro @ Jun 8 2010, 08:09 PM) no subtitle for now... and I think its good too.. cos I prefer watching the movie rather than reading the subs... Not all customer have a good english. So astro should introduce close caption subtitle. Fair to everyoneAdded on June 8, 2010, 9:01 pm QUOTE(From Bernama) Astro Must Comply With Principles Of Tariff Determination For Subscribers: Rais So monthly fee for PVR function is approved by MCMC? KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 (Bernama) -- Astro All Asia Networks (Astro), as a licence holder which provides paid broadcast service, must comply with the principles of tariff determination for subscribers set by the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC). Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said every increase in subscription rate would be analysed by MCMC to ensure it was necessary and reasonable. "It is also analysed to ensure it is based on the cost incurred by the service provider and not merely for profit-making," he added. He said this in a written answer to a question by Wee Choo Keong (Independent-Wangsa Maju) on measures taken by the ministry to ensure Astro subscribers were not burdened with monthly subscription fee and to give rebate to subscribers for the times when there was no reception. Wee also wanted to know if Astro needed the ministry's approval to increase the monthly subscription fee. Until March this year, there are seven providers of paid television service which have been given the licence to provide paid TV service besides Astro. "Currently, Astro is the largest provider of the service in Malaysia. However, continuous monitoring will be carried out to ensure consumers are protected," he added. On the rebate, Rais said the ministry welcomed the proposal, but said the matter had to be studied and considered by the ministry for the interests of all parties Source here This post has been edited by minimize: Jun 8 2010, 09:01 PM |

QUOTE(betterman @ Jun 10 2010, 03:48 PM) Recorded Godfather Part II & III (6 hours - 3hrs for each) last Tuesday, When u plug in back HDD to decoder, it is need to re-format again to use it?- 3hrs long HD movie had occupied 3GB in my WD Passport AV 320GB. - Meaning 1 hour = 1 GB for HD movie. - B.yond PVR recorded using *.STR (extension) format. - All *.STR files are copy protected. Try to copy into my Windows 7 PC but failed. - Heard that STR format can be play on SUPER media player (google to find) - Will try to play it on my WD TV live tonite. |

QUOTE(dannychen @ Jun 10 2010, 06:58 PM) Finally got it installed today. But sad to say the PVR only having the zoom mode and pillar box mode. No stretch and fit to screen options. Pillar box is not Plasma TV friendly. Thanks guyz because highlight this issue. I'm gonna hold to get this PVR until astro update its firmware. Added on June 10, 2010, 8:25 pm QUOTE(zerorulez @ Jun 10 2010, 08:02 PM) Hi... the HDD plug'n'play function is it only compatible with WD 320GB only? have anybody tried with other capacity n brands external HDDs?
