if you pass the signal thru HDMI the scaler in the TV will act on a digital signal instead of having to digitize the analog YPbPr signal to process it. This is especially useful if your TV has a good processor and makes the SD channel look better.

QUOTE(tolorati @ Jun 25 2010, 04:35 AM) from the WikiAlthough commonly associated with the 5.1 channel configuration, Dolby Digital allows a number of different channel selections. The options are: - Mono (Center only) - 2-channel stereo (Left + Right), optionally carrying matrixed Dolby Surround - 3-channel stereo (Left, Center, Right) - 2-channel stereo with mono surround (Left, Right, Surround) - 3-channel stereo with mono surround (Left, Center, Right, Surround) - 4-channel quadraphonic (Left, Right, Left Surround, Right Surround) - 5-channel surround (Left, Center, Right, Left Surround, Right Surround) These configurations optionally include the extra Low Frequency Effect (LFE) channel. The last two with stereo surrounds optionally use Dolby Digital EX matrix encoding to add an extra Rear Surround channel. |

QUOTE(treblecase @ Jul 2 2010, 01:19 PM) How much did you guys pay for the WD 320GB External HDD for Byond? I was quoted 400+. I think it's too much. I got mine from basement shop at Imbi Plaza. Basement price, rm265 - probably rm260 if cash, perhapsThis post has been edited by SiriuslyCold: Jul 2 2010, 03:47 PM |

QUOTE(Great_Cookie @ Jul 4 2010, 07:49 AM) ... receive SOME HD channels, but not all - ie missing HBO HD, Nat Geo HD,History HD but can view others (AXN HD, FOX HD, the HD WC channels); ESPN HD is touch-and-go. Wondering what the reason for that might be are you subscribed to the packages with the corresponding SD channels? (HBO, NatGeo, History) |

I have a problem with my byond + recording function; whenever I play back a recording or resume after pause, the video plays for a few minutes then freezes on a frame - the audio continues on. I have to press STOP and go to Live TV to break out of this
Anyone have any idea how to fix this? hopefully without losing the recording of that GER v ARG match |

QUOTE(TallJustin @ Jul 7 2010, 10:31 AM) Different broadcast rights involved of which Astro does not own. Give GSC a call and hassle them to do it. Would be a great a party to see it in a cinema wouldn't it. Any administrators here wanna pick up the ball and run with it? I will buy a ticket |

QUOTE(TallJustin @ Jul 7 2010, 01:18 PM) Astro does not have any rights to broadcast to a cinema. If this is to be shown in GSC then GSC have to get the rights and they have to organise how the feed is delivered to them. QUOTE(writesimply @ Jul 7 2010, 01:21 PM) Thanks for the quick update, TJ. If that's the case, then I have low expectations of Malaysian 3D halls will be used for the World Cup finals. no I think the announcement came too late for us laypeople to work on it. Perhaps someone at Astro Marketing could have sold this to GSC/TGV as soon as they knew they would be working on a 3D broadcast and way before the public announcement. Unless Astro themselves decided late that they had the capability. fuad I think that many people would buy a ticket if they knew it was going to happen, but i have no way of convincing the cinema operators, and theyw ould take time to get the rights ironed out. Sony made the announcement last year that they would be capturing this in 3D... they would have sorted out the public viewings a long time ago. Such a waste, because the number of people who will be able to watch this would be miniscule. Even you guys would advise against rushing out to buy a 3D TV just for this, and make that decision within 2 days. So it's just the few guys who already have a 3d TV... |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Jul 8 2010, 09:24 AM) To be fair, the decision to broadcast in 3D seemed to be made kinda late. Let's look at the bright side, they seem to be at least trying to catch up for being late to the HD party in Malaysia. I know.. *sigh* QUOTE(anfieldude @ Jul 8 2010, 09:24 AM) The guy who posted the original observation just popped up with some pix on AVSI have the DVD+BD digibook (in fact, an additional copy is on the way from an Amazon preorder), but still waiting on my BD player hehe Anyway the DVD seems fine PQ and SQ wise both excellent. Except that - for me - mixing-wise, I kinda liked how the center channel is largely silent on Arriving Somewhere. On Anesthetize Steven's voice is in the center channel but the clear channel separation sometimes makes him sound isolated. If you have not got the disc yet, you can use my BD disc - let me know This post has been edited by SiriuslyCold: Jul 8 2010, 09:35 AM |
