Dear all,

I've already have Byond plus HDTV. Planning to purchase AV receiver and 5.1 speaker system. My question;

1) Can an AV receiver perform upscaling features 480/720 resolution
to a 1080 resolution (Astro SD signal to 1080 scale signal)? Does
anyone done this before? How's the outcome / side effects? Can
give brief info on how to perform these task/connection settings,
  etc.
2) Whats the best budget AV receiver can perform the above matter plus
support 3D features (HDMI 1.4) Note: Later change to 3D TV but not
  too soon...
*
some AVR can perform upscaling, yes

Look for the ones using Anchor Bay technology, like the new Pioneer VSX-920

But I got a series linking on my recording schedule, but don't know whether it works.
When will it be ready ? 'Soon' can be few years if we talk about ASSTRO.

if you are asking the guy who is writing and testing the software, perhaps it would be good to be a little polite.

In fact if you don't really know who you are talking to, does it give you a license to be rude?

Astro bring 3DTV broadcast to home user. rclxms.gif
*
yeah, all 5 of them, hooray!!

Singtel/Starhub joining up with Resorts World means that the broadcast will probably be to a cineplex where more people can view it.

QUOTE(gahkin @ Jul 9 2010, 08:33 PM)
my plasma is not 3d enable support . then i still can watch it at 830 by using the diy 3d glass to see ???
*
not enable 3D support = cannot watch
DIY 3D glasses = cannot watch

cross eyes and adjust distance, maybe eh

You should perhaps read up about the 3D technology they are using with broadcasting

All members cancel and boycott Astro HD until they add in more HD channels per package.

wait, weren't you going to join Astro and write software for them?

if people boycott Astro wouldn't it threaten your job?

Excellent. I hope he gets the job, then everyone can yell at him, too wink.gif

although, I would be worried about the attitude. perhaps being "on the inside" will moderate it hmm.gif

1. this is known fact, and it's due to licensing
2. if you feel it's ok to view them illegally what's the difference between this and downloading a torrent?

you can view it as long as you are paying for the service... the license does not extend beyond your service duration.

if you buy a DVD or CD, you can make copies and view the copies. But after you sell the CD or DVD - surely it's not legal for you to keep the copy for watching or listening?

Astro byond is only 720p/1080i, so a HD Ready TV would suffice. However, if you are getting 42" i would recommend getting full HD.

so let me get this straight... kapultek wants to take his byond smartcard balik kampung; but it only works with the new box, so the box and power supply and remote have to come along as well.

Then there's no HD or HDReady TV kat kampung, so must use the composite cable on the normal CRT TV, because the byond box does not have a SVideo output. Does the CRT have a component? otherwise, it may make sense to bring his TV balik kampung together with the byond smartcard, box, power supply and remote. dun forget the TV remote also...

but wait... how are you going to listen to the DD5.1 sound at the kampung?

(this post brought to you with tongue firmly in cheek)

QUOTE(ujunk @ Jul 19 2010, 07:14 PM)
Hi, i just want to ask.. im using WD 320 AV as my PVR, lately my live pause tv didn't work very well. For example, when i pause the channel, after 5-10 minute, i try to resume (play) it again, for the first 5 second, it works very well.. after that, the picture's stuck, but the audio seems okay i guess. So anybody out there have the same problem. Hope technical people from astro can answer this question.. Thanks in advance..
*
happened to me. I was asked to reformat the HDD; although I can't remember the procedure. Call tech support and ask.

Anyway reformatting it solved the problem of the freezing although I lost some recorded programs (GER v ARG, for one...)

I am not too fussed about that though - since my main use is for pausing live TV

I saw a very disturbing promo just now, on AXN HD. The new season of Barclays Premier League will be on ASSP, ASSP2 and ASSP HD.
