Fro the info I got from Astro Facebook, FOX TV ASIA will be on channel 710
Channel V is on 714..
Now, i know it might be irrelevant, but I dont thin the changed the channle number replacing BBC Entertainment with Granada TV..
I might be wrong though..
But the did execute the life of Astro Aruna channel 121 without replacing it..sooooo..

I wish I could shut the big mouth of this Eric Chew..
I have been hating this guy for months on Astro's FB page..
He would post 'news' he gets from 'insider' on the astro's page..
I even fell for some of the trash he talked about..
Once, he came out with a post that sounded something like this - 'Astro will be adding new channels on the 10th of May 2010..Please be patient as we are in the process of making the programmes better.."
Yup..sometimes he would declare himself 'WE' in terms of Astro..
But then he showed his sheer stupidity..
Suddenly, this guy who claimed to know a specific date of new channels launching on astro came on FB..
n he asked..Thomas Cup which channel on Astro?
Dumb ass..talk so much as if know inside knowledge but the Thomas Cup pun dont know what channel..
SAme goes with the new PVR claims he made..
So dont believe that guy..

FOX TV ASIA (ch710) will only be available to those who have the Variety package..i.e - MTV, STAR WORLD, ANIMAX package

FX HD (not the same channel with FOX TV ASIA) will be a preview channel when lauched on 16 June meaning it will start as a free channel to all Byond subscribers before Astro moves it into a package..most likely the Variety package too in the future..

U cant expect FIFA to ban a traditional or a cultural instrument from the stadium..
Its like if the World Cup in Malaysia and FIFA ban the kompang from the stadium..
What would we Malaysians feel if those western people come to our place and stop us from using our culture?
Ban us from using the kompang in the stadiums?
Most countries has many own musical instruments..
I understand the irritating sounds from vuvuzela..
But just banning the vuvuzela coz some Europeans and Asian teams dont like it is very disrespectful to the hosts..
Germany won 4-0..Argentina won also..so teams have to adapt to win..
We viewers have to adapt too..

True..ur points are good too but u cant compare EPL with Africa..different countries different cultures and different styles..
I agree with u all that it makes for an irritating sound to a lot of us..but thats maybe the advantage to the African teams..
European, Asian, South American teams might get annoyed on the pitch with the noise and the Africans take advantage of that..
Same goes to the European..lets say its winter time..teams from other parts of the world would not get the advantage like the European have playing in the winter..
i understand the point of saying the sound is irritating but to Africans, its part of their lives..
The best non African team who go on to win the world cup will deserve it coz they coped well with the atmosphere
Football is the beautiful game and we all have to understand others culture and style too..

on another note though..when was the last time u watched a local Malaysian football match at the stadium or on TV?
Coz there are a lot of fans of teams still using the kompang at stadiums all across the country..
Kompang is still at stadiums and alive..

Well..
Obviously the new Astro website has a huge flaw in it..
Now existing subscribers cant change or upgrade through the website..
They need to call Astro CS which for me stinks coz sometimes it takes days to upgrade a package whereas it took 24 hours to do it through the website application..

Anyways, if i decide to change my Fun package with the Variety package, do i need to pay the RM10 charge?

I was tempted to take the Variety package seeing that FOX will be in it..but i just checked out the FOX programmes lineup and there is only 10 programmes listed
The ones I remember..:

Bones
Smallville
NCIS
Family Guy
Lie To Me
Cops
Flash Forward
Modern Family
White Collar

Correct me if Im wrong but I think I can catch The Simpsons,Smallville and NCIS on other channels to..so that narrows the number of new programmes even further..

Ill be keeping watch on FXHD programmes..if say i get interested with the channel once it moves into the Variety package, then I could sign up for the package too..

Any other infos on the programmes lineup on the new channels?

yes..for the time being it is for all Byonders..it will probably switched to the Variety package once the period ends

well..FXHD kinda sucks with the 2 black pillar box down the left and right..
AXN HD looks cool..
But sure after this u will hear people complain no subtitles punye..
I was thinking of getting Variety package once FOX and then FXHD were going in it..
Now I will have to reconsider..
The programmes are also limited on both FOX and FXHD

Malaysian will bash Astro for FXHD PQ..although not Astro's fault..
However, I would bash Astro for getting this channle anyway coz there are many other channels better than FXHD

That Eric Chew on Astro FB is making me mad..
He always talks on behalf on Astro..
Talks all good about Astro..
Yet he wont admit he is talking for Astro..

Answer..
1..Place ur STB on standby mode to upload to new v2.0..in less than 10 minutes it will update..
2.I think u should get but better use HDMI for better clearer picture..
3. After u update STB, this problem will be no more

Agree..dont thin FXHD is worth to be one of the 10HD channels..
Hope they preview it for a week then cease transmission..

My guess would be one for variety and the other for the News package..
Variety maybe Star World HD
News could be CNN HD or BBC World HD if those channels exist..

Astro maybe have agreement that HBO would be the only HD movie channel available for a certain period of time..and then Star Movies HD could be an option too..
I dont think Astro would add another Chinese HD channel for Dynasty..
They want people to get bored with Zhi Zun HD 1st and then add a new one..maybe Chinese New Year time?

A good plan for Astro now would be to launch the two remaining HD channels after the World Cup n before end of the year..
Probably thy then can start promoting new HD channels for the start of 2011..

Just my opinion

*Im still wondering and waiting for news on how Astro will show all 380 EPL matches LIVE from August..cant wait..
