glad you enjoy it.

as for the engine oil consumption, kancil is MEANT to use xw30 (unless the manual says otherwise, in that case please correct me if im wrong) so if you're using xw30 and you're having consumption problems, you may want to do some overhauling and replace some seals/gasket wink.gif

used to face that before however after the complete engine rebuild, good bye to such problems already despite using lm xw40 which my car specifications require xw50 tongue.gif

I recently bought a second hand 95' Sentra B14 1.6 all on stock and changed the engine oil to CASTROL MAGNATEC 10W-40..

In my opinion.. the engine runs quite smooth at highways and low noise but power during pickup or overtake is not very satisfying..

Anyone can recommend me better oil for an old car like mine?
*
perhaps you can give a try to torco SS xw30 smile.gif

if you would prefer more protection and a more quieter engine, consider liqui moly SS xw30 instead

Previously tried Liqui Moly with my 4WD still dont quite like it..
*
if performance is what you're looking for, then that is not the engine oil to go for.

also why i use torco on my nissan sentra, and liqui moly on my proton iswara

LM is not for performance? hmm.gif may i ask why? Coz in planning to use LM 10w-30 after this. FYI, Im using eneos 5w-30 from mileage 10k km until 65k km & recently use Torco TR5 10w-30. All i can say is so far so good this 2 brand.
*
LM offers more protection, and makes your engine damn quiet/less vibration. however compared to torco, revving just isnt as fast as what torco can provide.

Shall give this Torco a try.. Where to get it in KL areas bro?
*

torco is definitely more expensive than castrol lol

Amsoil semi sync 10w-30. izzit good enough for my civic 2011?
*
synthetic.
sync =! synthetic

been seeing few people using that and its just getting a wee bit annoying

as for the oil itself, xw30 ss would be ideal for a 2011 civic. performance wise no comment since i have never tried them

sort of la... my engine now feel smoother... very the quiet one....

my friend engine also feel smoother and can go 170km/h++ without any vibration (thou he really needs to change a new front tayar)
*
haha same here, full bottle ceratec ma.
max speed 160-165km/h (give/take around proton's advertised speed of 162km/h)

barely any vibration, more towards the cheapo chassis flexing around, not to mention the floaty feel being a light hatchback 1.5l car, severe wind noise/resistance and you know, proton being a proton. lol

at most theres the usual high rpm engine whines (post 5k rpm and still flooring accelerator pedal) which i believe shouldn't be anything to do with the engine/engine oil, i heard its due to the valves or chambers releasing pressure? not too sure on that though.

with new 15" rims upgrade and c.drive 2 tires, the car is a ton more stable, and NVH is also drastically reduced. just a pity i cant do much about the wind noise, and speeding too much too often in my car can be hazardous as it has zero modern safety features sweat.gif

talk about wind noise.... that gen2 also got that... 130km/h and start to hear wind noises....

hehehe yeah... driving kancil at top speed 130km/h++ at highway is not recommended.... feels like want to terbalik any given time lol!
*
cant be helped, proton aerodynamics can only go so far. i believe the perdana (more towards a much heavier chassis and probably sound dampening) or FL/FLX would be the best in terms of aerodynamics.

anyways i personally recommend that you try LM for 1 OCI, then next OCI try ceratec full bottle. as you will know the before/after much more clearly. and be more convinced (or vice versa) if it is worth it or not wink.gif

i want to try 10w40 after this. 10w30 is really best while u accelerating but my engine drinks the oil like nobody business... if i can get the 10w40 to at least slow down the oil drainage then i'll try ceratec full bottle....
*
yeah good call, no point to spend so much just to have it all leaked out lol. (though eventually on your OCI you will need to have it drained. just that by then majority of the ceratec will bond with your engine already biggrin.gif

hopefully when i already have some money to do full overhaul (thinking of upgrading my kancil engine lol...) and the oil drainage problem is solved i'll be switching back to 10w30.... but in the mean time i have to settle for 10w40 and maybe another round i'll use ceretac full bottle....
*
if you're not really into performance/modding, can just settle for a complete overhaul/engine rebuild just to restore what is lost (leaks, power loss, color smokes lol) and thats it lo. exactly what i did.

too bad my engine ady specified xw50 and my heavy leaded foot high revving all day erry day, else ill give xw30 a try too LOL

seriously bro u should try..... i can hit 170km/h++ and i know i can go more with my friend gen2 but chickened out since i feel a bit wobbly on the steering wheel... (the front tyres are kindda bald and i was speeding when its raining lol).

chasis foaming yeah? i'll poison my friend to try that one after this.... brows.gif

im looking for performance, hence i'll be doing some minor modification to satisfy my need for speed lol....
*
well, if everything is operating optimally, you'd be surprised on how well even our local p1/p2 cars can go. hell, i can go up to around 160km/h with zero modifications and on a 12 years condition car, not to mention having a heavy subwoofer in the trunk and dampened door panels (more added weight lol)

though if you ask me personally, id actually am OK with the weights as it gives my car a lot more solid/stable feel, and not feeling like its going to "lagi best" (lol p2) itself to hell. lol

I tot u using 40weight?

-bang for buck --> Any cheapo oil. Pennzoil is well balanced in terms of pricing and results
-cheapest --> Castrol GTX.. dont
- the best --> Liqui Moly, Qmax, Torco, Chemlube, Q8. Mind you, my 200hp 1.3 engine runs only on Liqui Moly's 10w40, and that's SEMI with a bottle of ceratec. No problems so far and I promise that you'll not be able to hear my engine on drive AT ALL smile.gif
*
yeah, as the engine is xw50 so -10 lo. i actually wanna go xw30 since im so rev happy, but since everyone advice against it, might as well not then lol

btw, castrol gtx cheapest? i thought there are many other "brand x" or worse, recycled oils out there. "asal boleh jalan, OK la." thumbup.gif

I heard lots of ppl is using lm semin synthetic... How much does it cost? and how about the oil treatment..

My car is facing overheating problem most of the time, so does the oil affecting it?
*
rm110-118 IINM and the oil is more for protection/quiet engine than performance. if you want performance id recommend torco instead.

as for overheat problem, lm oil may or may not solve it though it DOES reduce engine friction guaranteed (lower noise/vibration is a very clear sign of lowered friction)

if it persists, id recommend to do a FULL coolant/radiator flushing (flush from engine block and not just radiator)
then do a 50:50 ratio water + forged racing coolant.

if you still face overheating issues, and/or coolant leaks, do check where is the leak, or check if the radiator fan is working properly, or check the water pump if its working properly.

all the above parts are wear and tear products and they do get worn out/malfunction in due time.

If compare LM with Chemlube semi synthetic oil? how is your opinion about it

oh yea, what is forged racing coolant? any recommendation on it or example or brand.. thanks
*
never used chemlube, so cannot comment.
it is amongst the higher range of SS oils though (like lm/torco/motul/redline/amsoil etc)

as for forged racing coolant, refer here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2030932

http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/fea...eries-blue.html

http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/fea...series-red.html

for day to day drive normal cars, blue should be more than enough. and please dont go over 50:50 ratio
as in coolant more than water, the other way around is definitely fine, though if too much water vs coolant ratio, obviously effectiveness is less

because based on my personal experience, this coolant is quite corrosive (build ups will occur, and the bottle it self, i had drips of coolant on it and i didnt bother to wipe and left it to dry itself, and after drying, the bottle surface is deformed a little lol, the color/paint/surface, not really the bottle itself)

I heard that Torco is good for performance. But then, is it only applicable to FS oil? how about SS oil?

Good quality SS oil is much better than so so brand FS oil. Anyone agree with this statement?
*
Torco SS is good as well, i'm a user of both torco and lm, and i dont think i am switching away any time soon smile.gif

and yes, highly agree.
what you pay is what you get, especially in the very competitive higher end market.

I've used lm too. Not torco yet, planned to get it on next service. When I was using LM, my engine is quiet but somehow I felt that it's not that responsive for my car (might be smthg wrong with my engine? I doubt). Currently I'm trying Lexus FS oil, i cannot give any comment yet as I just reflashed my ECU last week. It's very responsive so I don't know it's the oil effect or Killerom effect. Lol laugh.gif
*
my iswara is damn responsive, however if wanna compare to my sentra that uses torco, cannot fight at all smile.gif

and thats why i've said if you want performance, look at something else like torco. however for engine quietness/performance etc, can't go wrong with LM.
