Dear bros, sorry to interrupt yeah.. Im noob when it comes to oils ><
So let's get to the basics.. Synthetic oils are just mineral oil + additives to make it synthetic yes? Please do correct me if I'm wrong. I'm willing to learn. =) So to make synthetic oil they just basically take ur mineral oil and throw in some additves and paste "Synthetic" logo?? What exactly is a base oil? And what are Group 1/2/3/4/5 oils? Thanks brothers. |

Need 5-40 but no such viscosity in Pennzoil page.. Only 5-30 or 0-40... Currently on 10-40 with not much loss in oil (Don't have to top-up). Thinking to drop viscosity below one notch. 5-30 or 0-40 =_=" PENNZOIL Y U NO 5-40 |

XD bro, if you read thoroughly (be it this thread, other threads, the one you created, or the wiki page), you should realize that the value before w is irrelevant in Malaysia.Ok, so.. Thinking to drop viscosity below one notch. 5-30 or 0-40 =_=" PENNZOIL Y U NO 5-40 to summary/recap: The first value before w is for winter viscosity and IINM it's to denote viscosity grade measured at 0 Celsius or 0 Fahrenheit (we won't get that unless you purposely go freeze your engine) if you want to drop viscosity, max is ~2 notch from your engine specification (try to find the service manual instead of the owner manual), as the second value is typically in incremental of 10, eg: xw20 xw30. although coming 2015/2016 API/SAE will make 0w16 official to give you an idea, the Mitsubishi engine 4g15 specified xw30 viscosity EO, while proton specified 10w50 or 15w50. To be fair, engine oil technology and rating/certification weren't as they are today, and iinm it was specifying API SG or something, which we are currently now on SN (alphabetical order, however some alphabets are skipped iinm but you get the idea) as i managed to dig up the service manual, it gives me the confidence to run on xw30 EO on my year 1999 iswara and till date it has not given me any issues while having pretty awesome acceleration/response due to the lighter viscosity EO |

Just bought Liqui Moly 10w-40 (Rm130).. time to change from my loyal oil Castrol Magnetec, use it since castrol bring it into our market long time ago cause I got feeling that "Old Magnetec" has been change to RS... the current one had poor performance than old Magnetec.

Just changed ENEOS 10s-40 Semi Syn, so far it is provide more lighter throttle feel, quiet engine, and able to speed more with light throttle.
Had tried: Petronas synthium 800 and Shell ultra helix hx 7, both are worst than ENEOS. U will smile when using ENEOS, u will never look back for Petronas and Shell EO again. Cheer! |
