Bros, I would like to ask got some Synthetics are rated xxW-40 and some Semi-Synthetics rated xxW-40.

Examples are :

-Torco SR 1r, 10W-40 (Fully Synthetic)
-Torco TR 5, 10W-40 (Semi Synthetic)

So,,,, does that mean it doesn't matter the numbers so long its rated right for my engine?

Thanks a lot.

That is viscosity value and yes it doesn't matter (especially the value before w, as that's for winter grade, under 40c/cold start) so long it is according to your car /engine spec

Have anyone tried it? Seems like a new fish is in town. Seen the oil is green color! Like syrup, yum....

Good thing: All their oils are API certified

Bad thing : I dunno where it's origins and not mainstream.

Not mainstream is not a problem. That's why we have API certification etc. The oil meets the specs for API SN. So if your car specs that then it can be used. If you want to race, then you need to ask track kakis.

Most racing oils don't meet API certification as they lack the requirements for a road car to be worthy, such as compatibility with cat converters, emission requirements etc.

typically, green color would mean high amount of molybdenum as their main additive.

so long you go for the EO from API list, ESPECIALLY the resource conserving ones, it can't go wrong nod.gif

May someone recommend a good ester based oil? The new Motul 300v line I heard is good. But WAYYYYY TOO DAMN EXPENSIVE! almost 400+ for one. One cheaper alternative would be redline oils. Anyone used them before?

give a try on the new pennzoil ultra platinum (atm a bit hard to find) with pureplus technology smile.gif
or the oem/partner shell with pureplus is the same as well.
(above i havent try personally)

below 2 i have tried personally and exceeded my expectation on long OCI going between 12-16k km's/more than a year:
Torco SR1 for that awesome revs, or if on a budget Motul H tech 100 plus for a damn cheap API SN EO

This is on the inspira currently:
AMSOIL is insane on the additives/TBN as well with their signature series as they also guarantee 25k MILES. if you want a bit more peace of mind, maybe can go with AMSOIL XL/OE series which are all API SN certified.
