QUOTE(Banzai_san @ May 30 2010, 08:50 PM) hmmmm~ i think i did clarify a bit on few pages back~ QUOTE(Gouki @ May 30 2010, 12:32 PM) well, my wild guess lies on the method for the conversion process after the Exmor CMOS sensor capturing the image in the camera itself~ both Nikon and Sony uses the same sensor in D3/a900/a850 and D90/D300/a700~ no doubt bout that but its the main difference in the Noise Reduction implementation on both Sony Bionz and Nikon Expeed engine~ Sony might be still new in dslr line so they cant fully utilise the capability of the Exmor sensor~ one of the very good example how they given the a700 a new frimware V4 update on iso NR improvement~ and how they catching up in iso NR in a550~ and now~ we have promising image sample on the NEX3/NEX5 on clean iso NR at iso 12800~ so its all bout hardware and software utilisation to make things work perfectly~ give Sony Alpha engineers some time~ they are catching up fast in dslr world~ This post has been edited by Gouki: May 31 2010, 02:42 AM |

The differences in color between brands are down to the color filtration array:
http://www.dxomark.com/index.php/eng/Insig...-sensor-quality Rightfully, the red channel should max out the red channel only instead of picking up green. This explains the lesser color tones (e.g. Nikon has less differentiation in greens while Canon has less differentiation in reds compared to Sony.) A bunch of colleagues of mine went to Broga hill with Nikons, and only the one person using Fujifilm Superia and a film camera got much better greens (you could see the different green tones.) Gouki: How about the Sigma 30mm F1.4 with a MFD of 40cm? It's APS-C only though. It's the D3x that uses the A900/A850 sensor. ieR: There is no proof that SAM uses plastic gears. Veron83: Nice that there are a few layers of leaves! Good shot. fas29: Wow, lovely! I wouldn't even recognize it as Studio Zaloon if I didn't know. hokc77: I quite like the more 'interactive' drift shots where you see the car interacting with the cones hehe. mastering89: It should be noted that Sony does not make the Nikon D3/D700/D3s sensor (and that A-mount Alphas don't have contrast-detect AF.) ahpingko: I actually like picture #2 but without the HDR look. boyzone: Use your left hand to hold the stem. wingster: Wow that's close! zstan: Why not shoot it like it's a tall tree with red flowers on top? |
