IMHO, just use the one that comes with the POE filter. No point spending extra to change ...

Is not the stainless steel type will last longer? Or only change it after KO will be the same cost as changing from initial?

For my previous POE filter with the non stainless steel type, it lasted me more than 6 years before it started leaking. I really don't know how much if changing to the stainless steel type will cost.

The POE filters does not really requires much after sales service. For the manual backwash type, it should be trouble free. Just need to manual backwash when the water flow is low.

Thanks. Will decide on POE without auto backwash. But now it is between membrane or sand.

For POE, membrane will be too fine filtration. I would reckon for POE, sand filter will do. No need membrane. You should read up more and you will understand what I meant tongue.gif

kelvyn, so u decided on ur outdoor filter?

i am also looking, dunno membrane or those many layers(rock) filters better suited..my condo have too much sand/stone coming in. clogging up all my taps, every 2 days need to open and wash. so mah fan.

i was looking at alphamax since they have like many many counters all over kl, but it wasn't cheap..and is too big to be installed at the walkway.

You can install POE in a condo? Where would your backwash water flow to?

I am using a sand filter. From what I learned, the membrane will clog up much easier.
But, since you are staying in a condo, you may have to use the membrane type as the filter is much smaller compared to the sand filter. I really wonder how you are going to discharge the backwash water.... hmm.gif

I am using Bacfree and it is really good. However, only issue is that the water pressure will be lower due to the POE filter. But i am getting really clean water and easily backwash filter. thumbup.gif

I'm looking for an outdoor filter too. Was told that sand filtration will cause contamination and mix together with the sands eventually. See this:

How true? Or just a marketing strategy?

Just be careful about the active carbon that some suppliers put in. You could always insist that this is omitted. Some supplier will place a small amount.

Have you seen how to wash the filter media? It is in a roll form. Cleaning is quite messy, IMHO.
Anyway, do check them out then only decide.

wdarke and kelvyn, yes dunno about the backwash. but if really do backwash, there's like a small longkang..so water can flow there. I guess i just don't do it while ppl are walking around in the walkway. Then just mop it dry after backwash.

i think sand filter is more suitable right, for my case to keep out the stones/sands? is it possible to get something below 1k?

the other thing is..can't install big filters in condo, as it takes up space in the walkway.

@Adele,
Sand filters are quite bulky. Have not come across one that is very slim and does not take up space of the walkway for the condo. You may want to discuss with the suppliers and see what they can propose.

You may want to check where your main water pipe are from, because only old flat or apartment are near front door else it should somewhere near your kitchen area...

If near kitchen area, then better chance to make some simple piping diversion and can install the filter either in the kitchen or drying yard.

Have been to an apartment where behind the water meter compartment wall is the kitchen. So, make 2 small holes and have the filter install just behind.

This Diamond now having offer with only RM699 excluded installation, or RM850 (with installation), really cheap compared to original price as RM2500+...

Almost every 2 years the filter media need to be replace which part itself cost around RM350 but not sure already included label or not, and every year service which around RM80

Is this good and any comment of it?

Else I will just go for Sand filter type.....
