Even if it would be done, it would need at least next 3-4 weeks as holiday time is coming tongue.gif
unless someone else doing it...

Not much 18'' in malaysia, perhaps only Qosmio X500? HP DX18 should be no more... hmm.gif

Doubt this thead will be as successful as the 14" one. That's because 14" laptops are generally much cheaper that the 13 and 15 inchers laugh.gif

Yup, because 14" offers Mobility & Performance at the same time...while 13" is more on Mobility and 15" is on Performance, we can enjoy both world in 14" icon_idea.gif...

Well, we are not hoping this thread will be successful but rather a guideline for buyers out there icon_rolleyes.gif

Hmm, it's funny to think their management's decision when doing business here in our country.

-We can't put high end version for this model in Malaysia. That country is developing, but not developed one like US, Japan etc.. We must put middle/medium specs only.

Erm, its RM4999. I read many reviews saying the ati 5450 is not that good. So yeah, still deciding la. hahha.
But that notebook is very sleek and nice.
So i was thinking that if i get it, i wanna get the 320m version. So the 320m version is also RM4999?

Toshiba F60-S530, i3 330M + Nvidia GT330M@RM3599
I saw this price at Lowyat shops.
One shop even offer 500gb Ext. HDD, 2nd and 3rd years local warranty and some free gifts...if not mistaken. Lowyat ground floor.

I think the price had gone down. A few shop I saw that model with that price already. Just one shop got the crazy offer.
And I asked, it's not the display unit price. Should had taken a picture.

Hi,
What is difference between ATi HD5470, GMA 4500MHD, Nvidia G105M?

By the way, pls recommend me which model i should go for;

1. Dell Inspiron 13R, i5 430M + ATi HD5470, Home Basic@RM2799 ~~ comes with External DVD-Drive
2. Toshiba T130, SU7300 + GMA 4500MHD@RM3099 *no DVD

Actually im looking for light laptop.
Both units are met my requirement. Weight also almost same.

Just curious their performance and value for money. Thanks.

if u juz wanna know spec, u can take a look at here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1109389

if u wanna go less technical, basically its HD5470 > G 105M > GMA X4500MHD...

there is somewhere in between the 2 models u mention in both performance and price, Dell Inspiron M301Z...

Thanks for your info.

Another thing is regarding the battery, is't toshiba T130 is more long lasting then Dell 13R?
From spec i noticed T130 can last up to 9.5 hours, but dell 13R only up to 4 hours...

it is because T130 using CULV processor... which is using low power processor.. hence less consume battery power/energy @ energy saving..

but the CULV processor is slower than core i3/i5 processor sweat.gif so not recommended if u use the CULV laptop for heavy task..

Oic.
Actually i had post my enquiry few days ago.
Here i re-post again.

1. The weight must below 1.7kg. (Main priority)
2. Microsoft office (word, excel..).
3. Online purpose.
4. Run stand alone software (maximum up to 3 stand alone software run in 1 time).
5. Must have 3 USB port.
6. Not prefer AMD CPU. (No offen. Just personaly don't like it.)
7. Brand prefer - I'm fine with all the brands.
8. Budget - up to RM4.5K.
**9. Long lasting battery. Prefer up to 4 hours above.
**10. Not prefer MAC laptop.

So what do u think which model is suit for me? I mean from this two model 13R or T130..
Else what others model u will recommend?

what software you always run..? if heavy software with heavy task.. CULV not recommended..
if light software with light task.. CULV is okay with it..

T130 still okay...

another laptop that i can recommend is..
Dell Vostro 3300 [i5-520M+ G310M] for RM 3199
Dell Latitude E6410 [i5 520M +GMA HD] for RM 4199
Dell Latitude 13[SU7300 + GMA HD] for RM 2999 << the lightest around RM 1.52kg with battery

Some stand alone software like programming PLC, Omron..
Estimated will run maximum 2 - 3 software in one time.
Other things will used for online stock check (web base), surfing and msn purpose.
Microsoft office like excel, word, powerpoint might run at the same time also.

Do u think all these task can categarize as heavy used?

How about Sony Z-series:

VPCZ115GG/BI (1.42Kg) (no dvd drive) - RM 5999

According to Sony website, the battery life can up to 5 hours

Website : http://www.sony.com.my/product/vpcz115gg

Other Z-series with dvd drive and ssd will cost more and between RM 7k to RM 8k

Haha, not everyone uses their notebook for gaming nod.gif
Notebooks with non- dedicated GC are generally cooler under normal usage, which explains why they often last longer than gaming machines T_____T

yes.. the newer Studio XPS 16 is coming out.. IMO ..

well.. it still the best 15' laptop below RM 3k
with Full HD display[1080p] and HD4670[although not cannot upgradable to HD5650,like i5 variant]

Dell really suprising me..

the best 15'[XPS16] and 17'[Vostro 3700] laptop for below RM 3k

yeah.. the processor is P8700 which is lose to new i5 520M[acer 5741g] .. but it still better for gaming[HD4670]

I think customize Studio XPS 16 i5 450m to i5 520m cheaper than buying the default i5 520m one, but need to look into the other configurations la. I mean the other specifications.

*Some models only got slight changes in price and promotion ^^

Something interesting (to me) laugh.gif ,just searched the internet on the meaning of "Portégé"... Actually there's no such word at all, only "Protégé".... So dunno Toshiba spelled wrongly or what laugh.gif
For those who are curious, Protégé means "One whose welfare, training, or career is promoted by an influential person" cited from http://www.answers.com/topic/prot-g icon_rolleyes.gif

Inspiron 14R and Acer TimelineX 4820 have almost similar specs and WEIGHT. I thought Acer should be lighter than 14R since it's thinner. Hmm.. 13R is still the ideal one for me atm.

i've been checking those 3820 reviews aroudn the net, and i havent found a single one that come with 5650 gpu (as advertised in singapore). i think one will have to be satisfied with i5 + 5470 when it hit our shores....

the one that can be found on amazon US

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-TimelineX-AS382...77441418&sr=8-1

and this one in UK

The problem is, it's been months. I almost lost hope in this model to come over here. Oh btw, I wouldn't mind bout the graphics card model. All I care is for it to have a dedicated GPU, i5, DDR-3, HDMI port and LIGHT aka 13-inchers. 13R specs is perfect but it's a bit too thick and 100g heavier (lol). 3820 is more stylish tbh. And I'm gonna be full of rage if 3820 becomes available as soon as I bought 13R. Just like what happened to me in 2008 when I bought Acer Aspire One, then Dell Mini 9 came over. 9 design is minimalist but defeated AAO hands down (in terms of SSD speed).

Upon comparison

HP DM3 series,

which one perform better?

AMD Turion X2 1.6ghz or Intel SU4100 1.3ghz?

And which one will last longer battery per charge?

how about performance?

Why there is no reviews for Dell M301Z? It mention up to 5 hours battery.

Since HD4225 can do FullHD and flash games, HP DM3 have HD 4330 with older mobile processor from AMD.

Dell M301z RM 2399 VS HP DM3 1021AX RM 2499

Would rather go for M301z, this model is quite new and equipped with AMD proc, on of the reason why its not that famous around buyers nod.gif...but the performance compared to HP DM3 would be slightly better nod.gif...

Toshiba claims the Portege can last up to 11 hours..
I don't think there's an i5 variant rclxub.gif
Both the U5400 and i3-330UM should be better than the previous SU4100/SU7300.
But between U5400 and the i3, dunno which 1 is better laugh.gif

hm, specs are important, but dun forget the bling bling features =D
Backlid keyboard, design, BD-rom drive, Full HD, fingerprint sensor... etc... those features tho not as important, makes the lappy fan.

Eg, you want gen2? or wira with nice rims/spoilers/bodykit =D

Converting is usually using CPU, except you are using the one that capable using GPU like Nvidia Badaboom....
Speed wise, GPU wins, but need specific apps...

Yes, they sure will give 1.. Its Toshiba promotion.
If they don't give, or like last time PC Fair- give people Western Digital External HDD instead of Toshiba External HDD, you have the right to ask for the correct one. laugh.gif

Guys, need some opinion. Planning to buy Sony Vaio Z, VPCZ115GG ( the one with HDD 500GB ) and will upgrade to, say Intel X25-M SSD. Do you think it is possible to do so and more worthwhile compared to VPCZ116GG ( with 128GB SSD )? VPCZ116GG is a lot more expensive and I think 128GB is kinda insufficient. shakehead.gif

The thing about VPCZ116GG is it still retain the optical drive since it using custom SSD that is small enough in its intended place, which you still can consider to swap the optical drive with hdd caddy to put in another hdd or ssd,
while for VPCZ115GG, you are using the optical drive space for the harddrive,

since it is 13" so.. i cant comment much although the price seems expensive and not worth it for me...

if 14" there are A42JV which is far better [slightly lose to your CPU , but better in graphic , overall performance and warranty] .. and the price is rm2699 only...

Darn i only trust Asus but the i7 is expensive compared to other brands. Its only 720qm so it must be the graphic card thats why.
Why are they mostly using Ati for i7 Nvidia is more suitable for me. Im thinking whether the processor or graphics is more important for the same price such as the HP DV6, i7 820QM + ATi HD5450@RM4999
HP DV6-3027TX, i7 720QM + ATi HD5650@RM4999
This one Dell Studio XPS 16, i7 740QM + ATi HD5730, 8GB, FullHD@RM4899 and this Toshiba Qosmio F60-BD533, i7 740QM + Nvidia GT330M + BD-Writer@RM4999
ok its hard to choose @_@

if only i dont travel alot i can buy a bigger monitor...but i have a feeling asus might release cheaper 15" i7 to compete with the rest. now i just have to find out if graphics or processor is more important for rendering =P

well, the G310m has a 3dmark06 score around 3700 range...
the 5470 has a 3dmark06 score around the 4300 range...

iirc, 5470 and 4570 around the same performace, and the 4570 can play quite abit of games...
