hm, specs are important, but dun forget the bling bling features =D
Backlid keyboard, design, BD-rom drive, Full HD, fingerprint sensor... etc... those features tho not as important, makes the lappy fan.

Eg, you want gen2? or wira with nice rims/spoilers/bodykit =D

well, the G310m has a 3dmark06 score around 3700 range...
the 5470 has a 3dmark06 score around the 4300 range...

iirc, 5470 and 4570 around the same performace, and the 4570 can play quite abit of games...

dude, GT425m performance is around the GT335m
you might wanna consider the A42JA that comes with HD5730. Sure the processor is just i5-460m, but its good enough for gaming.

so i'm actually kinda of looking into the MSI GX660 15inch notebook, i don't think it's out in malaysia yet or even gonna be but the pricing is around USD1600 or S$2500 (crazy i know).

notable specs:
i7 1.7-2.9
ATI HD5870

so any opinions on this 15 incher?

Don't forget the ASUS G53J >=D (i7-640m and GTX460m GDDR5 ram) And its so much more beautiful than the sager... @ 2.4k SGD

Am in the market for a gaming laptop.  Requirements are :

* Good graphics performance (obviously).  Pref supporting DirectX 11 and a good frame rate for 3D gaming.
* Decent battery life (power saving settings for when I am just browsing to preserve battery)
* Good processor (i5 or i7)
* Good quality screen and screen res (1920 x 1080 pref)
* 500gb h/d or above
* 6lbs is weight or less ideally
* Around the $1,000 price range
* Reliable build quality
* USB 3.0 support

Essentially I am looking for the right balance of modern gaming support, power, weight and battery life.

As far as form factor, I would consider anything in 13 to 16 inch range but I am thinking 14 to 15.6 inches might be optimal bearing in mind what I am looking for.

Makes?  Perhaps Asus, Alienware / Dell or Sager but I am open to any and all suggestions.

dude, $1000? USD? MYR? SGD?
for what ur looking for you're going into the 1500 USD option already... and gaming laptops with cards like 5870 or GTX460m dun have good battery life (2hr... 3hrs max) and if you want USB 3.0 i think only the G53Jw has that....

For built quality... in the 1300-1400 USD range their built quality is already top of the line.

any laptops can last 3 years if you use it carefully, dun abuse it o.o
5 years might be a bit too optimistic? of course there is 5 years old laptops out there now...
*
5 years will still be usable. Bu obsolete already. My dad's toshiba like 7 years old. He still use for microsoft word. I can still run C&C Zero hour.... but obsolete la

can gimme a list of alienware and asus gaming laptop price in sg.all rog and m15x/m17x
*
ROG import from america is cheaper. Alienware I recommend you going to putochip to get. His offer is the best. RM4.8k for M15x with 5850 GDDR5

Added on October 9, 2010, 7:11 pmhm... heard that ROG in Sg will be 3D version only after the initial import of the non-3D version... in america leh?

theoretically the GT435M should be at the 5730 level. But real-world benchmark test shows that the 5730 is still ahead of the GT435m. So need to wait till nVidia or people like DOX or Nautis to release drivers that can make the GT435m perform better

here, no.48 the * means "Approximate position of the graphics adapter"
and oops, the read world benchmarks i was thinking about was for the GT425m, not the GT435m.
