QUOTE(shanelai @ Jun 9 2010, 08:58 PM) So nothing much we can do if the landlord going to do something on us?? Your tenancy agreement has no grace period? Added on June 9, 2010, 9:06 pmQUOTE(Lester1987 @ Jun 9 2010, 08:57 PM) with $1500 per month, u will get not much savings. and i Not sure if u can afford to stay in SG with that amount. There are others who can survive in singapore for a little less then half that amount. It depends on your definition of "survive". This post has been edited by crapp0: Jun 9 2010, 09:06 PM

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Jun 10 2010, 10:30 PM) fyi, that blogger guy is wearing short pants to office like it is inside his own house like that. but i personally will wear smart casual. at least show a little respect to the company. thats what i think. the company rules is, wear what ever u think u are comfortable in as long as its not naked. It depends on individual, i was on a oil platform and you dont see the company rep, the C/O or even the captain wearing smart casual eventhough they have rank, as long as your comfortable, thats what matters. Heck everbody was wearing t-shirts and shorts. Plus in a hot and humid country, it doesnt make much sense to wear long pants and a jacket unless you like to sweat it out. QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Jun 13 2010, 12:36 AM) where got sibeh song, last week manager keep shoot e-mail regarding non-work related activity. but on friday, i say the TM surfing facebook there and when i pass by, he quickly minimize it. dam beh song him. know *** people but sendiri cannot tahan. how to be manager like that. Nearly all people with manager status are hypocrites of the higher order. Most managers like to follow the phrase "do as i say, not what i do" mantra. You can either prove that what he is doing is wrong or you can follow in this foot steps and become the very thing that you despise, most people who like power will do the latter, reminds me of umnos MO.

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Jun 13 2010, 09:47 PM) i tried M1 mobile BB b4, sux to the max. can't even online during peak hours (8pm-11pm). better sign an iPhone plan and tether with the 12GB that u have. i can run torrent at 300-400kb/s with internet tethering. edited, i am using Starhub for my iPhone plan. If depends on geographical location as well, i did noticed that the speed and overall usage of my m1 mobile broadband (dongle) has improved in my area during peak period. Last time i had to wait for youtube to stream but now i can watch it without having to wait for it to load. Though things can still be improved such as overall speed connectivity over the republic and maximum throughput speed.

QUOTE(yinyum @ Jun 14 2010, 01:52 AM) Hope some1 can solve my questions... I'm holding work permit now, as Apple offered me a job now, they r proceeding my E pass application... But my current employer hasn't cancel my work permit and I'm still working under work permit. Will it cause the E pass get rejected or delayed? I heard ppl saying that my current employer must cancel my work permit 1st then only I can apply E pass, is that true? Another question, I work less than half year, will MOM fine me or deduct my salary (something to do with company's income tax?)? Yup your employer needs to cancel your current pass so that your new company can issue a new on for you. I guess you quit the company and joined a new one b4 confirming that your current employment pass under your former company has been terminated. If the boss wants to be a "d***" and knows of your employment to another company, he/she may cause you some inconvenience by not terminating your pass for a few days. Not sure about your 2nd question but i dont believe they will be a fine since you only start paying income tax after working in singapore for at least a year and even if they do ask you to pay income tax, you pay it directly yo mom, not a deduction of pay from the company. QUOTE(skon9 @ Jun 14 2010, 11:11 AM) anyone of you guys here working at Marina bay sands or Resort world sentosa? I know one guy who's working for rws at the tables. He noticed quite a few malaysian datuks who play at the VIP tables, and as with malaysia as long as a person isnt in malaysia, people can do non-halal things in other countries and still be a holyman in malaysia. Added on June 14, 2010, 11:18 amQUOTE(Lester1987 @ Jun 14 2010, 11:16 AM) I am a VIP in both , but if u wanna work as a dealer, better work at Sands, coz Sentosa same as Genting. no tipping. Sands u can accept tips. U paid the 2000 dollar annual fee just to play in both resorts? This post has been edited by crapp0: Jun 14 2010, 11:18 AM

QUOTE(kockroach @ Jun 14 2010, 11:24 AM) I guess some other forummer here more happy hahahl. VIP is given by the casino based on the amount you "spend" at their casino. the 2000 is for entry for Singaporean and SPR. So the VIP status are diff for those on passes and for singaporeans/PR's. Does anybody know how much you have to "spend" in order to get the VIP pass? I wonder if "spend" = how much money you played away to the casino and your consolation prize is the VIP pass. Coz my fren plays there quite often, nearly every weekend and he rakes in around 500 dollars in winnings, the odd thing is he hasnt loss his principal sum. He may go there and lose some in the early stages but when he walks out he's in the blue.

QUOTE(mrportable @ Jun 15 2010, 08:33 AM) anyone knows is there any cheap residential area around changi/loyang/pasir ris? Generally pasir ris and tampines are cheap compared to those closer to the city centre. You can get a 4 bed room executive apartment for $1900.

You havent seen the bangla and indian workers have you? They can live on around 900 sing dollars and still have money to send to their families. It depends on what you prioritize on spending and how much you expect to save.

QUOTE(Lester1987 @ Jun 15 2010, 04:34 PM) yup, thats what happen in American company, but i like chinamen style. like in HP last time, we work until 10-11pm everyday, there was once that we stayed back whole night without going home because too many machines to be repaired. enjoy those moments because can hang out together, and boss will be more flexible when u are not focusing 100% on ur work during ur office hours because u will finish it anyhow. Depends on individual, some like to "lepak" in the office, others just treat it as a job and theres no point staying in the office if they dont have any urgent work to be done. Plus you can work offsite with remote office systems. Chinaman sees your productivity go parallel with time, the more time you spend at the office automatically entitle you to the status of "hardworking". They dont usually take into account that their staff may goyang kaki and play facebook instead of starting to do the job on hand depending on the urgency of the task at hand. QUOTE(giorgene @ Jun 15 2010, 08:00 PM) I'm working for Oz company, white man sucks! I don't know whether they really can work? talking always easy, right? who doesn't know how to talk? you must walk the talk and lead by example! Dont you know that bosses have the authority to "Do as i say, not what i do". Nevermind that their staff thinks of them as a 2nd rate human being but if they get the job done, why does the boss care what people think of him since its only the results which matter.

QUOTE(wlcling @ Jun 16 2010, 10:57 AM) doesnt sound good... best to have higher basic, but should also ask the employer approx how many months variable bonus assuming average worker (won't be stated in contract la). If his basic is low, you really cant expect the employer to give a fantastic bonus amount.

FYI...not everyone get their job thru agent..like me..i actually intro by relative...some even intro by forumer here At least you dont get a job through an agent like those from india, bangladesh or burma. They pay an arm and a leg to get a decent job in singapore, only to be disappointed.
