To make their children suffer the 1 hours or so travel time. I wonder how does one encourage out of the box thinking since you just tell people not to follow their predecessor method of solving the problem. But then again they will just wikipedia it so thats not really thinking out of the box is it.

I would rather go for singtel or starhub if im on a mobile plan. But if mobile broadband plan for PC, then M1 since their priced competitively and their performance has recently increased. Now i can see youtube videos after 7pm without having to wait for it to load.

Im actually more concerned with carrier specific coverage as well as net traffic load. I know a few fellas who have singtel 3G where the performance all-around is much better then starhub or M1 has to offer.

I know a few singaporeans who dont like him coz they hate NS. One guy hasnt been called to the reservist since he convincingly gives excuses such as being outstation on numerous occasions for an extended periods and paying a psychiatrist to issue a letter stating that he is mentally unfit to do NS.

I guess if NS doest check in detail and the guy is willing to put the effort to deceive the NS authorities then its fine.

I guess people look for connections to famous people so that they too can feel important or more precisely to ride on a dead persons credentials by saying he's either related or the same race or countrymen.

From the tenancy agreement or the part which you have posted here, either party who wants out of the tenancy agreement b4 the minimum occupation has to pay back to the other party the agent commission, full stop. Its quite unreasonable for either party to commit to an agreement where if they dont serve out the minimum occupation period, they have to pay back the other party the rental balance if the minimum time has not been met.

Malaysia just did that with brunei whereby land which was in dispute between malaysia and brunei (Brunei had the upper hand and would win in an international court), so malaysia or pak lah specifically made a deal with brunei that they would give them certain blocks of offshore area which contained an estimate USD 100 billion dollar worth of oil. I sure hope that piece of land aka limbang was worth 100 billion dollars.

What can do when on the average singaporean food not that nice.

Why not just ask your company to put you on company blackberry enterprise plan. Since it wont be personal but for business but you can take advantage of using it for minor personal calls or using skype whenever you feel homesick or to call love ones.

I rarely call my parents or frens over the phone, preferring to use either skype, e-mail or msn.

Who said its boring, get to live expat lifestyle. Thats if you work for shell, goto either SRC or panaga country club. Plus they have alot of activities for children as well with the school just opposite the club.

Plus purchasing a car is cheap, has one of the lowest oil prices in south east asia and the main road from kuala beliat to seria is usually just a straight road so you can speed with no probs plus the roads are very well maintained within the kuala beliat - seria area since alot of shell staff are housed either in the outskirts of seria or in kuala belait.

Plus there are a couple of shell staff who have their own micro-brewery for "personal" consumption.

aircond at 500? Good luck with that since its high unlikely a stranger would rent you with air con at 500 unless you stay in the utility room. And even then most singaporeans are "ngiau" and will complain once the electricity bill goes above what "they" see fit.

Most if not all tenancy agreements are designed by nature to jerk around the tenant and protect the landlord, the only difference is how much jerking is done to the tenant.

Usually for a 1 year contract, if either party breaks away from the contract within the first 3 months, then the party which breaks the contract must pay back to the other party the agent fee if there is one.

If you didnt go through an agent, then the landlord has every right to jerk you around as he/she sees fit or benefits them the most from your misfortune.
