If it was a year ago I would say definitely go for iPhone OS. The variety of apps and the smoothness of the phone is top notch.
Now with Android fast catching up, things are less clear. The Snapdragon processors brings the platform up to par with iPhone's speed, although overall, the UI on Apple still feels smoother, less lag, than Android (I guess thats the price you pay for open source which is supposed to run on a wide range of hardware configurations, vs Apple's locked down ecosystem where everything is tweaked to perfection). Personally I would wait another year to see if Android apps can catch up to the quality of the iPhone. As is stands, Market is a complete crapshot so the App Store is still more advantageous for developers. But more and more 'popular' apps have found their way to Market. Rumors are the A4 will be the brains of iPhone 4..if true, that's one juicy and power-frugal chip! Specs wise, it will probably beat the Desire. After all in the world of consumer electronics, the latest usually ends up being the greatest for the duration that it remains the latest. |

Yeah on average you only save about $100-150 going from single to twin sharing. To some, a small price to pay for privacy.

one thing i learn about singaporean cuisine...even tho the name of the dish might be same as in malaysia, this does not necessarily mean the same dish similar to how hokkien mee is different in Penang vs everywhere else in malaysia.
last time i ordered prawn noodle in sg, it should more aptly be called pepper noodle! |

Last time i survived on an intern stipend of only $610 a month, + RM500 from my parents monthly, shared room, cooked most of my meals, even got extra leftover to go back melaka spend. But more or less every other day have bring bread lunchbox to office and dinner spaghetti or maggi. The problem is when u got money, you tend to spend...so up to you to be disciplined if you want to take advantage of the SGD currency to save.
I budgeted that i should be able to live quite comfortably in a single room $400 and $300 for food, extra $300 for entertainment expenses. That's still $1000 in savings you can take home, equaling most fresh grad gross salary in Malaysia. The real fun starts when you bring that money back home and use there ^^ |

QUOTE(seantang @ Jun 15 2010, 11:44 AM) The real real fun starts when you earn S$15-20K a month. You can save S$10-12K a month and buy a Kancil each time you go home for a monthly visit. it would be even more awesome if your hometown happens to be in labuan or langkawi. can buy a honda civic everytime go back.Added on June 15, 2010, 11:50 am QUOTE(kockroach @ Jun 15 2010, 11:43 AM) I thought for huge amount, TT through money changer offer better rate, no? QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Jun 20 2010, 11:39 AM) many years ago didnt have any economic crisis... and the last 2 years it was deflation... This is based on my own personal experiences and also the figures quoted are for Malaysians with no PR. SG/PR should command a higher pay especially if they have degree from local Singaporean university instead of a Malaysian degree.i think 2.5k should be the minimum.... some are getting around 4k... of course there are rumours about those getting 8k, but those are just special cases can try here: http://www.salary.sg/ AFAIK the recruiter told me 2.5k and above is only for Singaporeans with reason being they went for National Service, so they are unable to offer 2.5k for me. Hence i was quoted the 2.3-2.4 figure. |

QUOTE(blessedvillain @ Jun 27 2010, 10:36 PM) need to ask u all something, is there a website/forum where i can find room to rent and share the whole unit with other bunch of tenants in SG without going through agent? Most room-for-rent ads need to go through agents and most likely to stay with owners. I am having problems with this as well. So far I use Roomsdb.net, Easyroommate.sg, Share Accomodation and Flathub...its been very hard to find also. Previously I used Sg-house managed to find quite a few non-agent ads but nowadays through sheer volume, agent ads have flooded most of these sites that it's become virtually impossible to find and connect with people who are renting out directly. If possible I would also like to find houses...preferbly ones that don't have to stay with owners. Blessed when are you going over to Sg to work? |
