Under MM2H..... Mitsubishi ASX 4WD @ approx MYR138000 [ without car loan ] ...... how much Tax Exempt can expect ?

Went to see Mitsubishi today for the CKD ASX.
VERY WELL spec'ed car for its price. The REP price is around 94k OTR for 4WD and 83k OTR for the 2WD.
Go for the 4WD since it is far superior with push start, moon roof, traction control and more.

And the best thing is, they already have a division that handles tax-free cars, which makes car delivery super fast.

Hi Bros,

Anyone knows how long does the MoF approval usually takes?

Cheers.
*
It really depends. once you logged in the SMPC system it usually take about 4-6 weeks for my case (one is 4 one is 6) but currently the SMPC system is down so I am not sure how you are going to check... I did submit my first car application myself with the help of the sales agent providing the information.

QUOTE(Newbie7 @ Nov 4 2014, 09:25 AM)
hi everyone,

Need advice urgently...

Bought my Toyota CKD car 2 years ago under REP, & after 2 year, I'm relocating again, thus need to sell my car.

I called my toyota agent last week, he told me that I'm have to pay for the tax when I sell my car. And I hv to go to the custom office to get this car tax calculated.
Now, this got me confused because all these while from the REP official website, this is the answer given:

Extracted from REP - FAQ
"If I use my car for more than 2 years, I can sell it after that and will not have to pay any taxes. If this is the case, will the buyer have to pay the taxes? Is it true that no tax and duty will be imposed if the car is old after 5 years?

Once you have purchased your two (2) CKD vehicles tax-free, you must have them in possession for a minimum period of two (2) years before you are allowed to sell them off to a third party. The third party will be responsible to pay to the Government any taxes payable incurred on the CKD vehicles based on tax-written- down-value/market value. Vehicles cannot be sold or its ownership transferred (penukaran hak milik) without paying excise duty and sales tax calculated by the Royal Malaysian Customs during the sale or ownership transfer. There will be taxes paid at any time the car is sold."
Isn't this contradicting with the FAQ from REP? Or is my misinterpreation of their FAQ statement?

Any sharing?

Or recommendation to any experienced car dealer in KL who can handle "so called tax-free" CKD car?

Thanks in advance.
*
from the FAW, it appears that the tax still needs to be paid. hence you need to get the current tax value for the car and add it into your final selling value. the tax still need to be paid by the buyer/third party as they dont have the tax free allowance. so in the end, transfer of ownership = the other owner needs to pay the current value tax. so it is indifferent than selling a normal car (with tax).

*
unfortunately you need to enquire the car dealers one by one as there are no definitive list of price for CKD car. the price list above is quite complete.

If you want a (not so updated) article of CKD cars in Malaysia, you can check out this Autoworld article

Thank you for the info! It's really helpful as I am also doing a survey now.
Anyway, do you guys know the price for HONDA Accord?
*
They used to publish the price on the net but not anymore.

It could be around 100-11xk for 2.0 and 2.0VTI and around 130-140k for 2.4 if i recall correctly.

chizzu, TQVM!

I think most of us having problem of finding retailers/sales agents who have experienced in dealing with PAKAR/REP/MM2H. Just my suggestion. If there is a list of experienced retailers/sales agents for reference, it would be easy for all of us! Just my suggestion.
*
Most Merc/BMW/Volvo/Honda/Toyota/Nissan showrooms have similar experience handling REP case. Just mention to them MM2H or PAKAR programme and they will know what it means.

Try go to Glenmarie area where most of the car showroom HQ are located.

Dont even think of trying KIA, Peugeot or Citroen (or any company under NAZA), they dont entertain these tax incentives.

Mazda and Hyundai, from my experience is quite hard to come by as the sales agent are inexperienced in dealing with the case (both are under Sime Darby/Inokom) tho Mazda showrooms are more helpful. Got the REP price for CX-5 after weeks it was launched. the discount for both marquee are very little tho.

VW - Miserable discount rate. Could've top up extra ~10k bought a Volvo S60 T4 or BMW 316i for the price I pay for Passat under REP programme. Nevertheless they are helpful in providing the info.

For Mitsubishi, heard the showroom in Glenamarie has dedicated team dealing with PAKAR programme. only ASX is CKD and a bit of search in this thread will reveal the price

Subaru - only XV is CKD and a bit of search in this thread will reveal the price.

Renault - only Fluence is CKD and a bit of search in this thread will reveal the price. (got mine for around 80k++)

I went for Volvo V40 and Renault Fluence for my parents for my 2 cars allocation.

Well you can't really compare both cars as it is a different genre type of cars in my opinion. Volkswagen Passat has a edge in their designs and its appearance suit a younger ownership whereas Volvo has a slightly older design which suit older people. I also know that Volkswagen Passat has a better fuel efficiency to compared to Volvo s60 T4 or BMW 316i.
*
The point is, it does not justify to buy a car that is worth 170k+ whilst you can top up another 10k and get a car that is worth 220k+

The tax incentive by VW is really not worth it IMO.

I am just judging by the worthiness of exercising the benefit of tax incentive here instead of comparing the functionality. I hope you get my point smile.gif Just helping out others in getting the best bang of bucks

FYI, i test drove passat and really loved the driving experience but i dont see it attract me in terms of the design. it looks plain to me whereas the Volvo V40 i have chosen has much more younger appearance.

The reason why VW has less tax exemption mainly because most of the part of the car are still imported from overseas hence the car is somewhat labelled as SKD (semi knocked down).

Well, Passat is running on a 2.0l engine while S60 and 316i are running on a 1.6l turbo engine. Well, i will leave the FC discussion out as I am not in the position to comment about it.

My decision of not going to VW mainly affected by the fact that when i was working in UK, VW is like, everywhere, comparable to the Myvis here. Golf, Polo, everywhere tongue.gif. The fact is VW is not a premium marquee as compared to Merc and BMW.

I am also doing a survey on Volvo cars too based on my budget:) Apparently, Volvo's tax exemption rate is higher compared to other car makers ( which sounds really good to REP or MM2H buyers ). However, besides the 5+5+5 promotion, I found almost nothing about cash rebates + free gifts offer upon Volvo car purchase. Kindly share should you guys have related info on cash rebates or other offers.
*
Yea basically you won't get much offer for cars under REP because it's usually brand new cars that are not yet tax/duty paid. Even if you go for Honda or Nissan they won't give you much rebate because they need to get a brand new car for you instead of old duty paid stock. Tho some car manufacturer do keep old stocks of non tax/duty paid cars.

Volvo didn't offer much rebate. I only get free umbrella from my purchase. Nevertheless it's the best bang for bucks compared to the others. The 5+5+5 practically seals the deal as most car dealers only offer 2-3 years warranty and/or free service and Volvo offer both for 5 years!

Hi there, anyone of you has experience on selling your tax free car? Says if we owned it for 5yrs and resale it, will be need to repay back anything? How's the resale value compare market price? Very confuse now as no SA can provide me any info. Called mof and never get answer on phone. Appreciate some sharing. TIA
*
yes but you will need to check with the customs of the current car value and tax applied to the car. The sales agent cant give you an accurate figure. Unfortunately we (or the new buyer) still need to pay back the tax when selling it. So it essentially same as selling a normal car. except for maybe the selling price might be lower as tax might not be that high after 5 years. i might be wrong as i have never done this before

so in summary, you just provided the surat akuan and approval letter to the sales agent? not any other document is required? thanks.

well, they did get my payslip and kwsp statements to show i am financially capable to purchase the car, just the usual docs you would submit when you buy a car. If you have not started work, a copy of employment contract or job offer would suffice.

Need help urgently.

I have recently booked my second cars (I am entitled to 2 CKD cars) under REP.
I have been given the engine # and chasis #. Now, what do I do?
I was told to apply from MOF. But how? Can anyone guide me?
Thanks a million in advance.

how did you booked the first car? did the sales agent help you?

if yes, try ask your login details from them. if not, you might need to go to MOF to register some digital identity thing and log in to smpc

I think there were some guide on the first few pages of this thread. do read up.

To be honest, I don't remember how I did it the first time. It's been almost 18 months ago.
I think I did it myself the first time because my computer saved the login info to smpc site and hasil site. But for some reason, the saved passwords are no longer valid. Does it mean I need to get the digital cert before I can log in?
*
They have changed the login mechanism, supposingly more secure. You need to get the digital cert ( how to get it you can refer to smpc site coz my car dealer got it for me) then, you can enter the details in smpc site.

is epf statement or pay slip a must to be submitted to obtain approval from mof?
*
i dont remember submitting those to MOF through SPMC system. the mof only wants to see the letters from REP and document related to the car (chasis number, engine number, sales invoice, etc)

The payslip and EPF is usually for loan processing purpose.

Hello guys,

This is what I understand from the Talentcorp programme :

Work at least 3 years overseas

Then can qualify to bring whatever car he/she been using during the time?

But is there a requirement for how long is the ownership of the car overseas?

And how the programme make sure the applicant won't ciao after come back?
*
user posted image

you can only buy 2 CKD cars (old REP programme before 2014) or 1 CKD / CBU car in Malaysia (new programme effective last year)

you can now bring back one CBU vehicle and the details can be found at REP website FAQ section

The general criteria is as below:

PhD takes about 4-5 years, and in Europe it's considered as working for the govt as we are paid our salaries by them! If you are contributing to the NKEA fields, then you should apply even if you're not making RM20k or have the minimum work experience as they told us they consider you on an individual case basis, and if you can show them that you will contribute to the country, then they might approve you. It's free to apply anyway, just a small pain to organize all the paperwork they ask for (they asked me for all the salary statement and contracts in English, but my uni in Geneva was only giving me French documents!).

Re question about how long the car must be owned - it's 9 months if i'm not mistaken. Bad luck for me, by the time I got my act together to apply, it was April and they JUST changed the bloody rules AGAIN. In 2011 I was already planning to buy a car in Europe, but then they changed the rules to only 2 CKDs. Now 1 CBU or 1 CKD, but CBU already too late to buy, so left with 1 CKD sad.gif

I was considering the Volvo V40 CC, it's an impressive car, but parents advised not to go for that because of resale value (I'm hoping to hold on to 1 car for 8 years at least, I guess it will be worth nothing by the time I sell). So now I'm considering the Mini Cooper Countryman as it's my dream car  wub.gif  and I won't get a discount ever again! For reference of others googling about REP/MM2H prices, Auto Bavaria quoted me RM168,676.91 for the Mini Cooper S Countryman LCI (2015 facelift model, normally RM243,888). Non-turbo Mini Cooper Countryman is RM149,096.44 (normally RM149,096.44). These are the only CKD units by MINI...

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!

I believe you still can buy other CBU cars in Malaysia. No?

i think it should be after. i only did my loan processing after i got MOF approval.

perhaps to speed things up the sales agent want to do it before?

For both my cars, i only paid the booking fee before i get mof approval. the rest is done once i got the approval.

what car are you getting?

do they have the chasis and engine number already?

if yes its going to be quick. if no, then its going to take a while and you might subject to GST depending on what time you got your approval.
