Jesus Christ! Thats totally bad news because I was thinking of CX-5 as my 2nd option  sad.gif

Guess I'll book the CRV 2013, since launching is expected this March,,
*
Why not give subaru XV a consideration? In terms or passenger legroom it win hands down if compare to cx-5 but the boot space is a bit let down since its a crossover. Furthermore subaru is famous for its AWD while the new crv and cx5 is only 2WD and you need to pay more for the AWD version.

Out of curiousity I was surfing Sime Darby Motor website and read that certain Land Rover models are assembled locally. I called Auto Connexion to enquire and was told the Defender series are CKD and was told for the REP purchase, the tax rebate is around RM10k for both RM148k D90 SW and RM271k D130 SW, citing tax elements already very low  rclxub.gif
*
Same response when I spoke to Mazda. The tax rebate is around RM10k coz the tax is very low for the car.

Congrats. So nice to get it in such a short period. I still deciding on mine. Wait and see what new cars available as current offerings doesn't really attract me or I don't have that much cash to spend.

Went to Volvo Glenmarie to have a look at S60. very nice and well built car and i liked it alot but my heart skipped a little when i saw the insurance premium.... 7k++! The 5+5+5 offer is only valid for 2012 cars and 2013 cars will only have 3 years warranty

Then i went to the VW showroom which is just next door to enquire about Jetta CKD. The salesman told me that Jetta CKD is in testing now and probably will roll out in the middle/end of year.

Hmmm. Currently New Teana 2013 having offer RM8888 rebate so it will come down to RM125k++ price

But Volvo is throwing in 5+5+5 offer now with 5 years free service which is quite attractive.

As for Passat, they have in stock currently as 2013 cars just arrived at port. can get car in 1 month...

I have narrowed my choice to these 3 but now depends on how deep my pocket could take sweat.gif

Are there any official terms & conditions on excise & sales tax discounted after 5 years? I asked REP officer a few times but their answers have been vague..
*
I don't think it will be wiped off. Just that the tax you paying for a 5 years old car is very minimal compare to brand new as the car market value depreciates. In the end you (or the buyer) still need to pay the tax but it is very minimal.

Anyone know the pricing for CRV under REP?

How about the availability of Mazda's CX5 and price as well?
*
this is the price for old CRV, the price would be not much difference. should be around the same. (just take new crv price and minus old crv price and add on to the old CRV tax free price, you should be able to get the rough figure)

As for CX-5, the price would be -RM10k ish from the current CKD CX-5 price

Thanks for the update, compared to 40++K and 10K discount under REP, CX5 is not so worth it
*
That mainly because its SKD model. Since you are looking for SUV range, Subaru XV has about 20k ish tax exemption and Kia sportage and Sorento should be about 10k tax exemption.

If you really want a lot of discount, you have to look at T or H cars for the price range

planning to get the 2nd tax free car soon, what's the price of the Mazda CX5 CKD version?    else go for H Cxvxc for best price.

Should be minus around 10k. If you want more savings go for civic. The price is around 85k for 2.0 if I recall correctly.

Hi, anyone knows if the next-gen Kia Sorento SUV is a CKD version allowed under REP?

I think it should be CKD given the cheap price but its better to ask the salesman about that. But don't expect massive savings from KIA models.

Anyone got this clarified? i just got my car under REP and still can't be sure if tax is payable after year 5...

Cheers.

I still stand with my reply above. However the market value is not based on what price u are selling but more of the price stated by the tax department. It's probably the same as the sum insured market price?

any Bro . getting the car under tax free still eligible for the promotion/discount?    Honda saying Tax free car is not eligible for it.

i do think this is fair, because tax free is not related to Honda and Honda still selling the car with same price. Tax is bear by the buyer not honda.
*
From my experience, if its offer for old and existing models (i.e. 2012 cars, clearing stock) then no. If it is promotion for new car (i.e. Teana new launch rebate 8888) then yes.

Went to test drive Subaru XV the other day

Price is RM 97,874.50 OTR including insurance ( insurance is 2,736.50 )

Quite a bit of saving considering the selling price is 135k excluding insurance. Savings about 30k.

wow damn worth it....where u got the REP/MM2H prices? just wanna ask...advantages for REP and MM2H is the same right? or different? Damn now the gov changed the rules because in the past it used to be applicable for any car I think and my mum's beautician bought her C Class for 150+k
*
Went to Volvo showroom and asked the dealer smile.gif

the price is without insurance tho. the insurance part is the one that kills the price tongue.gif

C class is CKD now tongue.gif so possible to get it around 150k+ under REP also.

Volvo V40 price for REP programme (without insurance)

V40 T4 - RM 108762.88
V40 T5 - RM 117176.38
V40 CC T5 - RM 127614.38

The price above is gotten from FA Glenmarie. I do not guarantee that it is accurate but its around there.

Chizzu, what is the V40 insurance price roughly?
*
QUOTE(kinx @ Aug 20 2013, 05:24 PM)
insurance will be follow back the original (retail) car price.

which mean RM4-5k
*
Yup. The insured amount is the full selling price so it will be around 4-5k.

That's the only worry I have. To come out with a hefty sum for insurance. Lets say for Volvo s60 its 7k++

for REP Mercedes A class very good deal but still on CBU (if got CKD version i might take it).  V40 very good deal instead. but need to bear with the insurance except you transfer the NCD. smile.gif
*
Heard A series might go into CKD if sales is good. not sure about A series but the size of V40 is very small and is only good for 4 person. Thats being my only gripe because i tend to fetch around 5 person during the weekend. Nevertheless, its quite a hot hatch smile.gif

Test drove the V40 T5 this afternoon and the speed and handling is very impresive. I believe the handling is better than s60.

The full insured amount for V40 is ranging from 5.4k - 6k. not sure why volvo's insurance is slightly higher...

well, it wont be that soon. probably in 1-2 years time i guess. hence i rule out A series from my list since my REP expires next year and i have yet to buy a single car sad.gif . spoilt with choices tongue.gif
