Wonder if they stock "Seagull" from China. Came across a Seagull Tourbillion . Not sure if any of the forumers have any experience with this brand
QC vary quite a bit. it maybe cheaper to get it direct from them, but then it may not be worth the trouble.
I have met ppl having better success ordering from USA. They do a 2nd round of QC there. prices do start at ~US$4k
http://www.usseagull.com/production.asp?cid=8&pid=52

there are always cheaper Chinese Tourbillion, no exp with them
eg
http://www.perpetual-watch.com/tourbillon.html
http://www.minnor.com/a

some even cheaper

Thanks for the link, i was referring to those 157 pounds ones as its around my budget.

Normally they will come out with Auto ones with all their range?
*
U are looking at sale items or those Nearly new items?
new items, none of the chrono are near your budget.

they seem to have auto models for all their range. not sure if thats their goal

What do u guys think about this watch? compared to the PRC200 Quartz Chrono?
*
both are quartz. the comparison here is more design (personal taste) than anything else.

Just weird my $ refunded but order still haven't get canceled  unsure.gif

Aound the same time I also sent my Rolex for servicing. The charges by Rolex were only a couple of hundred more than TAG and pretty fair IMO. On top of that Rolex gave a 2 year warranty whereas LVMH only gave 1 year. So as far as I am concerned, this the last TAG that I am having. One of my children also has a TAG automatic and another is also asking for one. But I am looking at any other Swiss brand EXCEPT TAG.

I was digging out the old receipt for the TAG and the servicing cost was almost the price that I paid for when the watch was new!!!!! shocking.gif
*
did U change the bezel spring/hands/crown etc on the Rolex?
or its just oiling/cleaning?

1yr now! it was 3mth when I did mine. Things had certainly improved!

kids dig TAG, branded and do get attention from friends!
unfortunately the value still around 1K, quartz much lesser.
my TAG is your generation and I have seen it going for ~500-600 used!

*
1st of all who are these ppl? they got watches at a good deal?
even their grey dealer Time of Switzerland a sponsor on watchnet, their prices aren't that low.
I have only heard go France get LV, go Italy get Italian designer labels. Armani is for men.
nothing for man. wine?

QUOTE(johnnytan19 @ Jul 27 2010, 09:36 PM)
Considering the value of the TAG compared to the Rolex, the servicing cost of TAG Heuer borders on a ripoff! IMO they have been marking up their prices to cover their sponsorship and marketing costs. I read in the net that they are Seiko dressed in different clothes. LOL
*
well thats for their new chrono movement. the older chrono still have a Mod ETA 775X movement, the seiko movement isn't cheap even if U get it on a seiko watch. Its still a good US$2-3K min. don't go thinking seiko are cheap. if its a credor dress in tag at a lower price, wow thats a sweet deal!

QUOTE(johnnytan19 @ Jul 27 2010, 10:17 PM)
You are also a TAG owner? I suppose you can also service it outside but I was informed that LVMH is controlling the sale of spare parts. They try to be like Rolex but is still a long way off in terms of quality and service and most of all resale value. Anyway good luck to you. biggrin.gif
*
every watch manufacturer want to control sale of parts. if Tag is not trying to be rolex. Zenith/HUBLOT also part of LVMH group and they do a better job. resale value its all about supply and demand. Pam put a cheap Unitas pocket watch movement mod by Sopord due to demand b4 the financial crisis some are sell higher than NEW! and these watches today go for ~US$4k? Dornblueth uses Unitas but every part is revised and some are change, alot of work goes into it. Extremely low production and ppl that enjoy the quality of his work still pay a high price. however resale value on these are not as Strong as our beloved Pam.

anyway, if watchmaker is looking for movement parts they are not hard to come by esp most tags uses ETA movement. those parts are just abundant.

QUOTE(jingyong @ Jul 27 2010, 10:27 PM)
But i really like TAG Heuer link series.. their design is just superb to me.. maybe when i get older i will have diff taste.. smile.gif
*
15-20yrs ago Johnnytan tag 2000 series is hype! today? not so much. tag design change with the times thats 1 reason why resale value is so poor. anyway, like it just get it, no pt getting a watch that U're not going to wear it

classic, elegance look...as my tag is sporty look...

leather or steel...

brand is famous among watch collectors...buy unknown by those who dont know about watches...
less counterfeited...
price will maintain or gone up in the future...

worth to collect...
appreciate you help!!! notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
*
10-15K budget, and price will maintain or go up despite inflation?
today only ROLEX, those high end PP, VC, JLC etc

at ~USD4.7K budget only watch to look at is rolex, then again its heavily counterfeited. Plus no guarantee it will maintain its price. They do have good resale value but it still means U are taking a loss! over the yrs the cost of maintenance just make things worst!
U may find PAM but prices are falling and U still take a hit no gain in that Department. so it would fail the pt in RED.

JLC, Zenith, IWC, FM, Cartier under US$30K watches U'll not find watches that will meet your requirement in RED. even watches above that kinda price tag also no guarantee.

even these limited ones at 60pcs, I am not sure if their value would go up. its all Econ.. supply and Deman.
http://lmtime.com/watches/chronovintage.php#

want to buy a watch as an investment I suggest U don't buy. not even a LE watch from TAG will maintain its resale value.

remove that, and we maybe able make other suggestions.
as for less counterfeit. google replica watch U find site such as the below, whats less to u?
http://www.watch-replica.net/
http://www.watcheslux.com/

btw: JLC master compressor starts at around US$6K, b4 discount. many hover around us$10k. getting close to 30% isn't hard.

yes, don't buy watch as investment. your Dad's PP not even sure it will hold value over time. cost to service it isn't cheap.
have u asked him if he brought it in esp if he had own it over 4yrs.

at 15K so many brands to choose.
u could get the entry level JLC master compressor.

ck77 recommended those brand I think only Aninomo fewer fake. but u would want a regular ETA/Unitas movement for 15k.
try Dornblueth, nomos, RGM, Louis Moinet few fake on these brands
at least I didn't find the on these major replica sites.

nice! nice part time u got there. don't know how long u work. but saving 50K for a watch thru part time job is certainly SWEET!
hope u find some JLC u like. at 15K, many will be entry level for u. u can see grey prices are already up there.

oh.. don't expect COSC from JLC for some of their watches. u maybe disappointed.

major player in the market will definitely get copied.

U may wanna look at Ulysse Nardin, Orient Royal, Credor/Grand Seiko too.
maybe something like that?

Stowa A10 is a movement they buy from Soprod.
The same A 10 could be found in http://www.orangewatchcompany.com/milsub/index.php
Soprod made these A 10 to compete with ETA 2892

the Damasko movement would have alot of tech innovation. eg
- EPS® spring
- four-point ball bearing
- Silicium escapement
- Double-eccentric ratcheted winding system

maybe thats why these watches prices cost EUR$2990. in terms of tech they seem to a head of Sinn now.

&idThe ETA 2892 is facing alot of competition

Selita SW300 is design to compete in this market too. Soprod may end up dominating the higher end market.
http://www.sellita.ch/index.php?option=com...emid=23〈=en

just looked at SW200 data sheet. i am surprise that my CW 600 movement is a top grade! the Incabloc shock absorber explained in the user manual did help me ID that. somehow on the forum ppl kept saying no grading from Selita.

Timex is US brand made in Philippines.
at your budget u cannot be so picky at how the sec needle is pointing. 50 vs 50.2 is ok..
50.5 U shouldn't buy it the 1st time U ssee it

at your budget leather watches, if u sweat alot u need to change it esp those cheap ones.

great history on Rolex and tudor, Didn't know Tudor use Rolex movement. When did it happened? 1940s to when?

really its started with Rolex? I still though those German brands which started Unitas or Peseux. Rolex is a big brand so get all the attention.

anyway Panerai today still uses a Unitas, a mod Unitas by Sopord. OP X and OPXI are all Unitas 6497.

Unitas is made by alot of smaller swiss company I think. comoany such as choisi, Louis Erard have been making parts.

The late Nicholas Hayek? in the Aug 2010 issue of watchtime (interview) he did it cause he is pissed off with ppl that have no manufacturing capacities and wanna enter the watch biz. Legally he cannot refuse to sell movement to these small company. with that in place he can refuse. small watch biz can seek out there new movement company to do it. Selita is using ETA design as the patent/copyright on it has expire. he did not do it to spawn innovation in the watch industry. he just felt automotive industry can choose not sell power tran to any Tom d*** of harry why must he be force to do so. He invested so much money and other just reap the rewards. consumer like it but if U are in the business will U like it?
its like china, ppl like to pirate Software, now when they are innovating and producing and fellow country men pirate. these new folks are so Pro anti piracy law there. Weeding out the weak player is always a good thing.

hmm... didn't Dunhill and Cartier still use other ppl movement. Cartier is moving towards inhouse.

Roger Dubis had been selling such expensive watches and all the past movement have serious reliability issue. rush to market, reliability will definitely suffer.
