best to ask your malay friends to help you out here ... malay language is not my forte as well.

try to source for online english - malay dictionary ...
*

Hong already done a better job than those online dictionary/translator.

It no one can help you then just use english. It is better than sending in "funny" malay.

BTW, I have another question for you people. When I write my resume, in education background or education history section, do I need to include SPM, PMR, UPSR? Or, should I just write the name of school?

And, should I send 2 different language versions together, 1 english and 1 malay?
*

It is not necessary to include PMR and UPSR in your resume. If they call you for interview bring copies and original along in case they ask for it.

By writing in English you already implied that your malay sucks. Why give them a copy to show how bad it is? As I said earlier, write in English if you cant get people to help you with the malay.

well ... jz a moment ago, sharing experience with uni ex-coursemate ...

the thing is they told me if i wanna work in west malaysia, i should apply with the address of west malaysia. Shouldn't be east malaysia address ... i was like huh? what the?
reason is: they tend to call interview next day

anyone have any ideas on this statement?
*

Sound like some kind of a joke.
You fill in an east malaysia address and the call you for interview the next day but you cant fly over in time.

Does it make a big difference on the chances of getting an interview if we apply for job online with or without picture attached?
*

No picture means incomplete application. What impression does that makes on you?

Before the digital age photos was expensive. Supplying a photo online cost you nothing and you still want to whine about it???

I am just asking a question. What do you mean by whining? I dont see how this is related to whining. Please be more courteous when answering to question. Thi sis what the forum is for. And you are just plain rude! mad.gif
*

rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif You are great! You are asking a question with an obvious answer and you can complain that people are rude to you. Talk about rude what happen to "thank you for answering the question". Was the answer in any way a "/k style" type of answer?

I did not say I gave the best answer. At least I did not give you a typical answer that you can expect from /k. That would be rude. You are just sensitive that you labelled as whining.

Hi guys.
There is a job application where it requires to write down the current and expected salary.
How do I write it in the resume? Are current and expected salary should be in a resume?
*
I had disclosed salaries from all companies under employment history. I never indicated expected salary because I felt that it was inappropriate for the resume as well as the cover letter. Usually they will have the question in their application. I had always filled in "negotiable".

I am not impress if a person whom I do not know can put my name on the cover letter.
What is so difficult about getting the HR Manager's name. Call up and ask the receptionist.
QUOTE(debbieyss @ Jul 7 2011, 02:20 PM)
So are you advocating getting the HR's name or not? Seems like your statements are contracdicting.
*

Most HR manager sees a letter from a person whom they do not know yet they can address him/her by name knows the candidate just called the company to ask a simple "what is your HR manager's name?".

Would that impress you? It certainly does not impress me. I would be more keen on how you present yourself on paper (resume) before I call you to present yourself in person (interview).

What am I advocating? Do what you like. Put my name on the cover letter and write an average resume means no interview for you. If you dont know my name but can write an impressive resume, I would look forward to seeing you.

Has anybody write their resume in landscape instead of portrait orientation? Wonder what's interviewer's view about it...

You can try to be different. If the content of you resume is not impressive they will just say "stupid" and throw your resume in the bin.

is that cv letter body good enough? I wonder whether I should include the reason why I apply for the position.
- close to house, about 2 km travel. My motorcylce road tax end about a month ago...so this is plus point biggrin.gif
- I'm interested in biz administration and management and I plan to further study in MBA after 3-4 years of working. I'm 24 yo btw.
- I did small biz selling dadih and help my brother car wash shop from Jan to June but felt something is lacking thus I decide to look for a job, and this job catch my attention since I think I could learn a lot from this job.

extra info: salary is about RM1K. Location at East Peninsular. I'll be living with family, so I didn't care much about the 1K salary.

If I am the interviewer, I will not hire you.
I want a clerk not a graduate. Come Sep2011 you will start looking for job that best suit your qualification.

Apply for a job that require graduate qualifications. Convocation is just a formality. You can use your result to show that you have graduated.

company A is a recruitment agency and company B is a MNC.

so in my resume , which company should I put ? A or B?
*

The obvious answer is B. If you want to be get technical about it then the company that pay your salary (be it A or B) is your employer.

Guys, I'm writing my career objective for my resume. Need your feedback on it.

"Career Objective:

Seeking challenging career opportunity with a reputed organization that utilizes and further improves my expertise in soft skill development, talent acquisition and corporate communication for personal and organization development."

Somehow I have a feeling that it sounded redundant... does it?
*
Sound self centered. What can you do for the company = 0.

QUOTE(naziaf @ Oct 30 2011, 04:53 PM)
You got that right. You must have a lot of things to say in your resume, but depending on what you're looking for or interest in a job, you might want to highlight the ones related to your interest and tone down on the non-related ones.

For example, you have a degree in electrical engineering but you're keen in pursuing the programming side of it. So in your resume, you might want to highlight on the programming courses/projects you had in the past instead of your hardware projects.
*

Based these definitions how do you do a cover letter for a business proposal?

in malaysia, most of the cases ppl will know your race n religion once you wrote your name.
example;
1. ahmad
2. chew
3. muthu
*

To a certain extend this applies to other countries too
1) Jacques - french
2) Yolanda - american of african descend
3) Juanita - mexican
4) Evita - latina

As to photos, Malaysian companies usually dont short list people for interview who do not attach a photo.
