Your resume states

Uni : ABC Uni

Referee : Dr Smith of XYZ Uni, (relationship - my professor 2009).

HR can figure out that Dr Smith was in ABC Uni as your professor in 2009 and is now in XYZ uni.

It is good. Short and simple as far as format is concern. I refrain form the commenting the IT stuff you had under job experience since I am not and IT person.

Gormaz, I am sure you can help with constructive comments there.

Just reading your first paragraph, I knew you jumped over stayed your visa. I guess most people could figure that out too. A graduate will not be doing odd job for a decade in a foreign land after graduation. The issue is how do you hide 10 years of your life if you dont put in your first university.

What advantages will the part time job give you. Just list out those with relevant experience.

Resume that stands out depends on your creativity. You need to learn creative writing first before you can do a decent one.

I would highlight helping in make up for freind's wedding day.

Skon9,
I think only they can answer you. Tell them you dont have access to a scanner and ask if they accept a photography of the documents. It is their preference what they want. Outsider's comment are just wild guesses.

Virtual,
I am not a computer guy. I would say your accomplishment section is impressive. I notice you have several grammar errors although you managed to communicated your points. Format of presentation may be the reason for lack of response. It is very lenghty.

I have no idea what is HPC. If it is a niche labour market you already know the reason for your lack of response.

If you are in good terms with your ex boss then it would be a good idea.

For me, expected salary I put Nego, while availability I put 2 months... maybe this the reason I'm not getting any call yet...
*
I dont think so. Nego means they can still offer you something that is in their budget. If you are good the will wait two months or even buy your notice period. It is the content of your resume that did not cactch their interest.

You can still write it as "negotiable". They want to know if you are within their budget. Nego will still get you an interview if your resume can generate interest.

One of the job seekers myth is "Let the HR have you resume so that they can call you it there is a vacancy".

Most of the time Hr will not refer to resumes they recieved in the past. They can put an advert and recieve tons of resume to make their choice. They dont need to go to an old list where the choice is limited and most of them already hired.

hi guys!

I've got a question here though. Is it okay to be creative in writing my resume by decorating the headings with colour words or putting borders around the headings?

Thanks biggrin.gif

Think of it as a formal business letter not a design contest.

I am surprise you cant do that. You have no problems expressing yourself here in this post although your grammar is not good.

Hello,
I would like to ask, how you people start writing a cover letter for internship application when you don't know the name of the human resource manager of the company you interested to work in?
*

Please take note that the HR manager's name will not be publish out in any job enlistment. So, it has nothing to do with intern or any other job application form an advert. Here is how it is done like all other cover letters:

XYZ COmpany
1 Jalan Nowhere
55555 Kuala Lumpur

Attn : Human Resource Manager

Dear Sir,

cshong,
If you so much like to follow the stuff you quote go ahead. Personally, I am not impress if a person whom I do not know can put my name on the cover letter. I dont even look at the cover letter. I go straight to the resume.

What is so difficult about getting the HR Manager's name. Call up and ask the receptionist. If you use proper PR skills, they will tell you.

You can try this "bold" approach as well - call up the company and ask if they have any internship opportunities and then direct your resume to the person you spoke to..

all the best ...

Most likely you will confuse the already blur blur receptionist even more. "Apa itu intun program?" biggrin.gif

Cintai BM. You write to a government department in English doh.gif

Your cover letter is good. Short and sweet.

Minor comment. Your last paragraph should only be one line. "I attached herewith my resume for your consideration". Your second line is a redundant repetition.

I would advise you use BM when writing to JKR.
