Need advice from BMW owners. I was thinking of owning an E46 318i. Since the car has aged roughly 10 years, despite most of it have low mileage below 100k km, what are the wear and tear I need to focus on ? Possible costing as well. Also to note that it might be a weekend car. It is for the sake of owning a dream car.

X3 vs Q5. Any opinion? I was told that BMW have a lot of issues in their electronic board (dont know what it is) and Q5 have petrol leak problems. Any opinion is highly appreciated.

QUOTE(Damonzero @ Feb 14 2013, 12:10 AM) Service the worn absorbers? I never try before, how long will it last? Whats the pros and cons? You can't service original BMW shock absorbers according to the ZF. They recommend replacing them. Usually for coilovers you can service them, replace the gas/oil. But for the stock BMW ones, best to swap them.

QUOTE(LeoLilieno @ Feb 22 2013, 05:24 PM) Recon? Hmmm.... ada masalah punya tak... When looking at recon 1) Bring it for a check at your mechanic 2) Make sure the dealer you get from also offer a 1 year warranty. A lot of dealers have that nowadays

Anyone can commend about this shock? koni fsd from what i heard is pretty good since it comfort wise is not much different from your stock ones but they are firmer. I think its best you just find OEM shocks cause they are the best comfort wise. If not you can easily get a bilstein b8 or something but they are somewhat harsh

Bought it with 90K on the clock. Be prepared to spend roughly 20k on spare parts. The parts I changed were: Ignition coils Radiator Radiator fan clutch lower and upper suspension arms ABS sensors Door lock mechanisms Shock absorbers Brake discs Steering rack

I've moved on to Peugeot for a year now,so can't remember the exact price. You can get OEM parts from Germany,Taiwan or China from Stuttgart Motors in PJ.

QUOTE(Damonzero @ Mar 13 2013, 01:34 PM) I wonder is there any other BMW parts importer other than AB, SG etc I think you meant BA (rather than AB)? From what I know, there are 3 of them but Bavarian Auto is the most reasonable in terms of pricing.
