WTF! They applied 25Hz filter to both. How could they do this knowing very well the meaning of lossless audio? The avsforum is abuzz with this. If you feel that it should not have applied 25Hz filter, please send e-mail to foxmovies@fox.com and New Line Cinema. Potong stim If they start to apply it for all future releases, then it will in a way defeats the purpose of having lossless audio.

I still think it sounds like they're milking money from everyone... another good reason why I'm still not getting these 2 versions of the current BD release...

QUOTE(jimmyteng18 @ May 4 2010, 12:17 PM) What does 25 Hz filter means? Please enlighten me. For those with massive Subwoofer system that can generate frequency below 25hz (which is very very low), will be dissatisfied cause they cut the freq below 25hz for those movies. I heard for some movies the DVD ones have better audio than BD This post has been edited by azbro: May 4 2010, 12:41 PM

i have nothing against the purists or enthusiasts, but from a professional working in audio industry point of view, I have to question is it really important to have 1 to 25Hz signals in the audio stream?
normally 25Hz is felt at the skin rather than heard at the ear, but that's just me.
I'm worried about distortion of the signals with typical reproduction systems...I guess if you really want sub 25Hz sounds you can just shake the sofa instead.

The whole purpose of Lossless audio is LOSSLESS - UNCOMPRESS - NO FILTER!!!
since you yourself cannot differentiate lossless audio with lossy sudio and prefer the later, you can go ahead and keep your DD & DTS DVD and I don't know why in the 1st place you go and buy the PC12+ from SVS if you don't ever need anything below 25Hz....a RM500 Denon sub will satisfy you if you don't need the quality LFE....and a normal SD DVD will keep your saliva drops if you just want to watch the movie....heck...it's the same story no matter you watch in Bluray or DVD or even Astro.

Are you an audiophile? No pun intended The reason for a real low LFE is (yes, you guess it) to feel it. You wouldn't want an explosion or gun shot sounds like a firecracker going off. It is all about lossless audio; the uncompressed format. If they insisted to go for 25Hz filter, might as well go back to lossy. Heck, even some lossy or DTS does not have the 25Hz filter. It's kind of being 'short changed' for buying a BD

Could this be because of too many complaints from bluray consumers that some lossless LFE moments are literally killing their puny subs?? (I'm assuming majority are using puny subs that can't handle <25hz at at least 75dBs ) This post has been edited by ronnt88: May 4 2010, 03:30 PM
