hi guys.

I need help.

Currently my two small breed are eating Blackwood.

I buy it because it has small palettes and the price is affordable.

However my older dog recently started to not eat his palette food unless forced by us...(not sure is because he is old, or just attention seeking)

He wouldnt touch the food immediately but somehow will reluctantly eat it as if there wasnt any other choice.

I'm really desperate in getting him to eat..
Whenever I open a canned food, he eats it instantly, but I can't afford giving him canned food every meal.

Anyone can help?

My other dog has no issue with food. Only the elder one, he is currently 7years old and his teeth has always been bad as he stopped drinking milk from his mother at a very early stage.

Say Nestle came out with a sort of biscuit that it claims is 'complete' in its nutrition profile. It contains about 20 ingredients; some major, like dried chicken meal and brown rice, and minor ones which are the same stuff as found in vitamin tablets.

Then, for an indefinite time, years on end, you can eat nothing other than this biscuit and water. Every meal, every day. This particular biscuit, and water. From when you are 15 years old till you are 60 years old.

Do you think -- of course most people have no brains with which to think, but assuming you could think-- that your nutritional needs can be met exclusively by the wisdom of Nestle and those 20 ingredients in the biscuit?

I bought a few stuff from KinkyJane in Penang. Both my 4 year old Retriever and 1 year old Labrador had diarrhea. I told them about it on the phone. When I tried to call, I was told to contact online or facebook messaging if I can't get through the phone which happened.

I was told by one member later that I was blocked by 迪森 (a man pretending to working in japan but so obviously staying in KL) !
I am sickened by people like these who pretend to want to help but resort to tactics like these.  No replies. I gave up trying to find out what was wrong.

I will not go to KinkyJane again. They advertised all over the place spreading what a fantastic team and products they sell on other groups too besides their own "Pet For Sale or Adoption in Selangor & KL".
It has been one bad experience for me and my family.  Now I go to a great shop (I will avoid mentioning which shop because it will mean i am promoting them) and used golden eagle or beef cooked with peas, cabbage, carrots etc.  All I am saying is to never go back to one shop only just because it is so close and convenient or they look like they are adopting dogs out so they have integrity. How wrong I was.

Best way will be letting ur dog to try. If based on dog food rating, taste of wild definitely is a better one.
If stayed around KL, you can PM me. I do get good price for Taste of the Wild 13kg compared than the pet shop.

Adopted a stray puppy. Currently around 8-9 months; somewhere between 16-18kg.

At first I started with Pedigree - hair loss, that was an innocent enough mistake when I learned from the pet store to never feed any food I can get from the supermarket.

Switched to Bil-Jac for puppies. No more hair loss, puppy seems to like the food but my issue with the feed is that there seems to be a lot of it wasted as the feed easily crumbles to form powders.

Switched to NutriEdge - regular one for all stages, Chicken meat. Okay. Pet store says it's the best available. Couldn't find any info about it on the internet so I just went ahead despite it being much more expensive than the previous brand. Dog seems to like it, no problem until I think my dog go bored with this brand.

Then there was a promotion for a new range of feed also from NutriEdge - Salmon & grain free. I bought a total of 21kg of the feed. I notice my dog were not so actively feeding. In the past, she'd eat every time I pour feed into the bowl but lately she's just been not wanting to eat. She does eat if I feed her by hand but I don't usually do that unless the feed has been left for more than 6 hours.

I also notice that my dog has been shedding a lot lately this past month. I don't think the feed is causing this problem, perhaps it just coincidentally overlapped with my dog's shedding season.

Very nice of you to adopt!

I used to feed my dog with nutriedge, chicken then moved to salmon and rice. My dog get bored with it very fast, maybe not that fragrant. They will still eat if i sit there supervise, but takes long time. Sometimes, adding some water to the kibbles help, not flooding it. I've tried Taste of the Wild/Blackwood/Meradog/Solid gold/Profine also, but expensive kibble doesn't always pose better outcome.

Now i've changed to lower quality food, Maximus, due to budget issue also, but i give fish oil and sometimes carrot/cucumber to my dog. My dog poop ok and not yet bored with it. I used to be obsessed with reading kibbles review online, trust me, the more you read, the more your head spins. Just get some idea reading kibble beg ingredient and try it.

Nutriedge chicken i get 15kg for Rm180
Salmon & rice 15kg i think he quoted me Rm210
Maximus chicken 23kg RM140

Good luck trying out all the brands that fits you budget, too many brands out there. Do note switching too frequent will upset their digestion system, do it gradually always. As i recall, nutriedge is not grain-free, just hollistics. There's a lot of discussion whether grain-free is the answer for quality food (my dog can't take grain-free, diarrhea, haha). Well, it's always better to judge by looking at your own dog, their fur, /poop/growth and etc.

Actually the puppy strayed into my compound and it didn't run away when I gave it water and some biscuits, so here we are sweat.gif
Thanks for your feedback. I was considering to switch to another possibly more fragrant brand but I don't think I've seen that many premium kibble brands in my regular pet store.

This new range from NutriEdge is grain free, completely blue, 3.6kg packing. The promotion at the time was buy 1 free 1; 3.6kg for RM85, free 3.6kg. I thought the promo price per kg was reasonable. I have 2 and a half bags left.

One thing I notice about my dog's current feeding habit is that, every once a while when I feed it with cooked chicken meat with bones, like the leftover from chicken rice shops, she will finish the kibbles more quickly. No idea why or if it's even related.

There's no such thing of good puppy in this world, have to depend how you treat them.
I treat my dog like a human, when cold and people celebrating the night with fire works, I let my dog to sleep in my hall.
Everyday I must spend 30 minutes with her to walk and sheet in the grass area.
