hi all, can please suggest me what kind of food should I feed to a 6 month rotty pup? should I feed high protein dog food like most ppl suggest? or is there any specific brand that is rly good to ensure healthy growth of puppy? notworthy.gif

Previously I fed my sis's Labrador puppy with home cooked (chicken breast + small portion of rice) and it grown up fine, then I start feeding him the dog food my sis bought (solid gold as I recall).

Hi everyone...need some opinions from you all. I have a 6months+ beagle and 9months+ german shepherd, currently both of them are eating Brit-care Lamb and rice (12kg) pack. Cost RM207 (12kg). both of them can finish it up in less than a month. Started my GSD with brit-care due to his sensitive stomach for past 2-3 months, not sure can change to other kibbles or not now. Any suggestion for decent replacement which is cheaper??

There is a new treat in the market, "Hachiko", it is made of real meat and FDA approved.

For store bought treats, I personally like Zukes' and Sunday Pets though they are a wee bit pricey compared to DIY.

Zuke's contain specified protein as the primary ingredient, along with apples, veggies, and beneficial herbs, grain free, and easy to break into bite size or appropriate size for training. Sunday Pets are mostly freeze dried treats that I would use for outdoor training, especially off leash moments since my dog would literally switch her focus from free run to sit and stay in order to get it.

DIT wise, I love dehydrating lungs, beef lungs, goat lungs, or lean meat ( chicken/ beef/ mutton/ rabbit/ venison) to trachea, ligaments, tendons as chews. You can also toss in some organs ie liver/ pancreas/ kidney/ chicken heart...etc in a pot of boiling water, or in the oven, those makes daily treats too.

That is of course, up to your personal preference. The good side of store bought treats is storage, very easy, especially I need to pack up for travelling long distance, no worries of those treats/ food turned bad ( basi). As for DIY, it is definately much more affordable, and quality assured ( you get what you toss in the machine/ pot). Have fun exploring

** I once saw Orijen Freeze Dried treats in US, and was told that it is new arrival there. Don't think they're available in M'sia yet.
** If you're up for quality and have a loose budget, do try out Primal Freeze Dried. Sunday Pets Raw Chow is a little too crumbly to my liking to be turned as treats so I fed those as part of main diet.

Depending on budget and storage time. Cubes of breast meat works. Or you can mince chicken meat (add mince carrot) and make it to small meatball shape. You can also try liver (my girl hates it =.=). Homemade biscuits if you are extra hardworking. Giving something that you do not commonly give ur furkids is a treat. Add in some love and praise to make it more yummy. (when giving your furkids time not cooking time. Although heard from auntie it works to make food more yummy =D)

You need to find out what ur furkids likes. Mine loves salad and fruits, so I cut strips of baby carrot as treats. My friends furkids adores ginger. wub.gif Just remember moderation is the key. Use fruits like apple (cubes size) - dont use the core part & advice to remove the skin part ya.. Just to be safe, before giving your pet fruits/vege go google and do your homework as some fruits can harm our furkids.

Sorry for the late reply and hope this helps a bit.

Basically any brand of dog food with good ingredient will help to improve.

Find out the ingredients of the dog food and do some research, you would be able to find quite a number in the market.
