Hey island experts, hope you can help me out here..Me and a bunch of friends are planning to go to one of the islands off Pen. Malaysia but we're not even sure where! We've already been to Redang last year so another island this year is preferable. Mainly we're looking to have a lot of activities including snorkelling and other beach activities together since this is also sort of a gathering for our class. Probably around 10-15 people. We're not looking for scuba diving ( I think! ) so..yea. Budget I guess is around 500 per person.

Another thing is will it be very crowded during Hari Raya in August or not? I'm sure that the Muslims will be at home for celebrations right? Then again, I'm not sure of the demographics of Island tourists..Please inform me, thanks.

Looking to go to Redang : Arrival : July 18th Departure July 19th. Will arrive in Kuala Terranganu by bus from KL.

Budget : Cheaper the better! Around RM 600 for everything (including ferry)

Looking for a resort near good snorkeling, but away from disco or karaoke...quiet place!. Also need snorkeling trips at least 3 - 4 hours of it. Want to leave Redang evening of 19th to catch the bus back to KL.

My advise..Perhentian island would be best destinations for snorkeling trips...the lowest budget around RM330 per person will include 2 Night accommodation at garden view, 2 Breakfast 2 Lunch 1 Dinner and 1 BBQ..Return boat transfer from Kuala Besut jetty to Perhentian Island..2 x snorkeling trips with equipment..with your budget..can spend at least 5 day at Perhentian Island..

Hari Raya will celebrate on September..during Puasa..Ramadhan..maybe less muslim people will visiting Perhentian Island or other islands. Its not crowded during that period..August..my advise please make advanced booking ..for secure..

Lots problem with economics depression ...H1N1..less people visiting Perhentian ..compare last year

My Frens and I are going to Redang this 8jul and will be back on 10th jul.
We hav decided to go Redang Laguna Resorts after struggling between Redang Bay and Redang Pelangi.

Here's a little comparison that i made between Pelangi, Redang bay n laguna resorts.
For those who interested go Redang, it's a good reference.

of coz there r direct buses. contact travel agencies there. they'll provide bus service at rate around rm120 for return trip. it's vip coach bus so it's much better than u take those 4-seats-per-row bus to there.

With budget around RM500, that many island for u to travel, such Perhentian, Lang Tengah, Tioman, Kapas and Tenggol. The most popular island trip currently its Perhentian, its also may suit for u with a alot activities in the island, like jungle tracking, canopy, fishing, beach game and shower at Air Berani smile.gif We have our own guide in the Perhentian island so u can arrange with us if any activites u like smile.gif

During Hari Raya and Aug will not so crowded because most of ppl prefer travel during mid year. Anyhow my suggest its try avoid travel during Hari Raya with extra Public Holiday surcharge.

We'll have special promotion rate during 3-5 July Penang Matta Fair, kindly PM me ur email and I'll quote u a lower price (booking needed during Matta Fair period) biggrin.gif Have A Nice Day ~

Hi samurai,

I plan to go to Redang and opt for Laguna Resort deluxe package.. From their website, they provide coach bus from Hentian Putra for an extra of RM130 per person one way. Do u think it's worth it? Furthermore have to ride the bus at nightime arriving in the morning, safety is a bit of an issue..

They don't mention about return bus trip though..

Thanks yea!
*
The bus is return..not one way ( KL - KT - KL )...they charge RM130 with reasonable price..as 5 Star Resort..Since they provide the night buses services ,never heard any bad comment about safety..Durations traveling takes 8 hour..compare flight just 45 minutes..its depends your budget now.. smile.gif

Just came back from Redang Reef yesterday, still feel too short on 3D2N. Would like to explore other resort such as Laguna for the food and Berjaya for the private beach.

Overall, many coral die and wash to shore during my trip, but the waves will clean them up in mid day.

Saw baby shark near Redang Bay n they are not afraid of human legs.....!! Sigh!!!

Jetty:
If you are driving beware there are 2 different Merang Jetty depend on your resort. for Reff and Lang you have to take the one 200m away from Shell Petrol Station, the other one which is near the police post is mean for Laguna and other resort. Driving to KT from Merang Jetty is easy just follow the sign board will do.

Food:
For those looking for chinese food, you have to go to Jalan Cina Aka China Town. I dined at madam Bee a peranakan style restaurant, few shop lots left from Reff Office or Opposite the Chinese Temple. Price is reasonable and taste is great! I guess it's halal as i saw malay staff there as well.

Keropok:
Many along side from Merang Jetty towards KT.

Thumb up for Redang... icon_rolleyes.gif
