i m a bit worry the female is a male ;-)

if theĀ  end of the " V " is a bit protruded, it is a male?
*
The " V " protrude is just on the outside right ? Just done more comparing ( quite a few animals - some mine some friends' ) Some of the Female do have protrute anal scutes just like Male !!

But if Male , the protrude will be thicker ( both inside and out ) beside the concave-ness of the male's plastron !!

Cheers

I'm newbie here for Sulcata tortoise, anyone can recommend which shop or seller in from which selling the bedding for tortoise, as well the UV light? I got myself a 2feet and half aquarium.

Thank you.

Hii, aquarium might not be suitable to house your sulcata...  smile.gif
*
For now ( at most 1 year ) is OK except Galapagos or Aldabra who grow real fast !!

If possible get 3 ft and above tank to house your Sulcata !!

Keep it simple but not missing the basic
Housing - Bedding , Hide , and Heat

Diet - High Calcium High Fiber GREEN or specialized pellets , supplement powder/liquid

I stil havent any obvious concave-ness on the plastron, they are almost 8-9 inches d

by the way. wats ur experience with mazuri diet?

issit ok if i plan to feed them 3 days a week with mazuri, n other days with vege ?

not sure if they cause pyramiding, but tort really like it n grow fast with it.
*
Mazuri - not easily/readily available to me so I do without ( Did try a few sack which i bring in from Taiwan or Singapore ) No real difference noticed on adults !!

Will pre-prepared pellets affect the fertility in the long run ? - noone can give you the answer , as for me I still prefer fresh food at most dried hay included !!

Grow fast as in how fast ? 3" or more a year or faster ? Curious !!

Cheers

Most if not all tortoise prefer fresh green !! Grow them lah - mix fresh ( alfafa and timothy ) with dry hay and gradually dont mix any fresh n feed just dry !!

Wah u own an FRT too? Really excited to see him/her soon  rclxms.gif
Wait, pls be careful of extreme heat from direct sunlight. I dunno if its just me, but i think small RESes cant stand it. I used to keep a pair of RES in a plastic tank outside. Later both died. I learned that u shud at least hv certain depth of water in a pond, so that the water temperature wont get too hot. Later i'll post pics, if i hv time.
*
I have a horde of them FRT lol some in a bige fiberglass tank 10'x3' x 4' depth the bigger guy/gals in cement tank with climb out sand pit as " play ground "

Thanks for your concern about the heat !!

As far as I know, the local and imported species mostly, if not all, have been bred locally by Sam.
*
I think I am over-rated !! But I sure bred quite a few both local and imported sp but still far from all sp I owned ( many sp due to lone specimen or still immature size ) some sp just all male or all female and can't source the opp sex for now !!

As for FRT should be soon as Ms chasing Fs for about a year now ( this sp I think F mature slower )

*
Both sp of the snapper I have and are breeding from them - search back a few page of this thread I think pic should still be there !!

For mine their staple are fish pellets , supplemented with fresh meat/seafood and fruits !!
Meat include pork , chicken , beef .......Etc
Seafood include shrimp , fish , clam , snail ..... etc
Fruits include apple , mangoes , banana , papaya .....etc

Insects throw in as snacks - crickets , superworm , dubia..... Etc

wow what expensive diet !! But I think not " fresh" enough !! How complete it's still formulated feed/pellets - only that blood worm is natural . But fruits n insects do cloud water but good for breeders in the long run !!
