hi guys,

checked the CITES list, seemed that musk and mud turtles are not included, so these can be kept without permits right?
I mean just like the RES.
is this correct? anyone can confirm?
Thanks in advance.

btw samperth, if we have a permit for the torts, technically the CB babies cannot be sold by the pet owner to a direct buyer, is this the law right now?
*
Ya , keeper permit not same as dealer permit and to breed for sale one need a breeder permit !!

hai pplz want to ask about some turtles

ive seen before baby softshell turtles when they just got them (not 100% healthy when bought) after awhile the turtles skin get this kind of plaque white stuff on the skin and their turtles soon die after
why this happen? any way to prevent it?
oso for hardshell turtles is there any kind of treatment for their shells if they get sick?
oh yah also want to ask how to get permit for special turtles liek gator snapper or something biggrin.gif

k thnkx
*
Those white stuff - kind of fungus usually from cold water , In hatchlings usually v high or 100% mortality !!

As for other sickness pls be specific but usually there's cure/treatment !!

oh so cold water effects hatchlings, i see. but older softshells are okay with the cold water? cos the rivers they live in are pretty cold but i guess thats why they bath in the sun n stuff

as for hardshells, im talking about maybe some colour disfiguration on the shells
or liek some red tinting on the shell like i found on a black marsh turtle i found somewhere along the highway
any general cure for teh shells?
*
U mention the small soft-shell not 100% healthy did u not ?

That's just staint and not sickness ( if not sickness where's the cure ? ) - find the cause then find the solution !!

The sun is xxxxxx km away from us and if you look up without protection will it blind our eyes ? Let alone our tortoise's !!

All uv ray will be harmful just look at the good side ( the vitamin D your pet can get / produce from it ) !! So use a big enough enclosure when using heat lamp or uv lighting so it can run away if too hot or for the uv case - get out of sight of the uv ray !!

Yeah i know u all didnt believe it,,,,
Actually i give myturtle eat pallet,,,,
And because the pallet is runs out,,,
I decided to feed my turtle with hotdog,,,
And guess what he eat it,,,
*
I believe you , why so strange Hotdog just another kind of processed meat - like dog , cat knibble be it dry or canned !! Turtle tortoise can n will surely eat if it feel like it ( especially if the hotdog smell nice )

BUT Hotdog any good to our pet ? ( thats not up to us to decide )

want to ask , how long can a turtle survive without eating? and want to ask how to identify turtle eggs?
*
Depending on size / age and condition ( few days to a few months ) as for eggs can't say as all shape and size thr-out the different sp - round sphere- like like ping-pong ball to oval shaped !!

And some soft shelled - sea turtle .... While some hard shelled - RES , box .....

My female star is suffering from splayed legs. Will it affect her in terms of breeding?
Can this problem be rectified?
I heard that I will need to feed her with high calcium diet daily..
*
Depends on lots of stuff !! If curved bone or " older " specimen involved damage may or most likely permanent !! If permanent , high calcium only stop it from getting worse but can't improve it !!

No problem Mr Sam smile.gif

Lately i notice Fly likes to eat SW very much. He also munches on Hikari Massivore Delite sometimes. I'm afraid carnivorous diet will make him more aggressive towards other fish tankmates..
*
Then make sure he is full at all times !! Hungry predator make the worst tank-mate !!

Hey guys, need help here. My red footed lay 10 eggs yesterday, how I going to incubate it?
*
Go buy an incubator if you do not already has one !!

http://www.thelizardslounge.com/
The SIM container sold by them for incubating reptile eggs is pretty straight-forward and user friendly

Cheers

Thinking of temporary fiber tank for him. Will house him in concrete pond in a new place. Do u think 4x3x2 fiber tank would be enough? Just for him alone.
*
I think as long as there's enough space for him to swim around should be good enough for now !! Filteration will be more important as they are soft-shelled !!

QUOTE(antzz @ Nov 20 2012, 02:23 PM)
Yeah, these creatures are way hardier than we thought. In my case, my PNT had survived 4 days of torture when i accidentally left the tank with the electricity out (main switch turned off by lightning, and nobody home to switch it on back). It goes 4 days out of filter, out of aeration. 8 of my fishes died in the occation, the water all cloudy and hell smelly, even had oil layers on the water surface.

I was so grateful that Fly survived the terrible accident sweat.gif
*
Wow what a survivor !! Glad he made it .

Bro, what size is ur biggest PNT? How many do u still keep? Ur pets place, must be quite a wonderful sight, right? smile.gif
Aww so sweet of u and ur heart.. haha.

Yeah i faced that kind of feelings a few times before. But thats life bro, theres nothing we can do but face it. Pets come and go, so do persons around us. If ever u want anything in life, u have to bear the consequences, and risks. Thats life all about, after all. Full of choices, and also unexpected outcomes. While we only do what we think good, the outcome always a mystery, still.
*
Pnt 20-24" I supposed as don't really measure ( not easy ) them after 18" !! More than a dozen that size and maybe a dozen more smaller one !!
Any F I see in LFS that's 10" and above I will pick up so number keep changing !!

Cheers

I started early , if I remember correctly my first pnt I got back in 1995 or 96 so he is close to 16 if not a bit younger !! Bought 6 then but only 2 made it !!

And PNT is considered a minority in my Tort-Tut-Land LOL - if they start reproducing then their status may change Who knows

Cheers
