A few more details on Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops popped up today, answering a few of the more pointed questions arising from the game's debut trailer.

Intrigued by the presence of an SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance aircraft in the clip? According to this report (though be warned, the wording is vague), you're flying it. Wondering about the kind of guns that will be in the game? There aren't just guns, there are also crossbows. And yes, all that snow you can see means that you won't just be fighting in the jungles of Cuba and Vietnam; you'll also be blowing stuff up in Mother Russia as well.

The game will also feature 2-4 player co-op, with the game's main story focusing on two characters over "multiple covert international conflicts"

That's about all that can be gleaned from a depressingly brief "preview" over on USA Today, but the flying stuff will be interesting, since previous games have only let you roll a camera around, not the plane itself.

UPDATE - USA Today has three different previews up, two of which say you pilot the SR-71, but the third clarifies by saying that you only control the camera and give orders to ground troops, not the plane itself.

The two other posts had said "Players spy on suspicious activity while piloting a Lockheed SR-71 recon aircraft over the Ural Mountains" and "From the initial piloting of a reconnaissance aircraft to on the ground combat in the Soviet Union". Sorry to get your hopes up.

The level called Black Cats in WaW is some of the memorable moments (include the music), so I am looking forward how they do with the SR-71 aka Black Bird.

Though Infinity Ward did away with dedicated server support in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PC, the feature will return in Call of Duty: Black Ops PC this fall.

"Dedicated servers are excellent," Mark Lamia, head of Activision-owned Black Ops developer Treyarch, told magazine PC Zone as relayed by CVG. "I don't see any reason not to see them unless... well, I just don't see any reason not to."

Infinity Ward had previously explained that Modern Warfare 2 PC did not support dedicated servers as to make multiplayer more accessible, complete with a matchmaking feature "just like you have on the console" care of its IW Net backend.

However, Lamia notes that "We do work very hard to reconcile the desire to manipulate and modify those dedicated servers with offering them the persistent experience and benefits that the console system provides... We're working very hard to marry those two things, so people can run dedicated servers and also participate in the communal experience the console players get to have, given they're all on first-party servers."

Coming to PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii in addition to PC, Black Ops is due November 9.

Then China joins the fray and helping the North Korean getting back up to the 38th Parallel.



I say this is a very interesing war as this is the first ever armed cold war confrontation with Soviet tanks vs American troops. There is no glorious win but the struggle for the 38th parallel is no short of epic.

Not necessary. You see if the North wins, it would indefinitely ignite fear amongst the populace of Japan and may lead to the revoke of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution which says that Japan shall never have a standing army(actually they do, just that they rename army into self defense force)

The revoke of such article would enable Japan to enforce conscription as well increasing Japan image as a bulwark against North Korea aggression with the Chinese being reluctant to act upon North Korea. In short, Japan had a reason to remove the needle in the flesh that has been sticking for years.

Let's not forget that Japan would be the front line base of UN. This would in a way gives business opportunities for Japan to create weapons, vehicles and etc in preparation to response North Korea aggression. Wouldn't this make Japan kinda won even if North Korea overruns South Korea?

but but in CoD:WAW i play more co-op in campaign than MP... atleast can co-op in zombie mode.. that also acceptable

Just thinking, how would you guys think this game gonna affect the other COD title especially COD4 and MW2 since this two title is the most played title among other COD title in Malaysia..

Depends on how good is the actual game, i think.

From what i heard, there are some people say Treyarch make better CoD than IW, as they are better on map design and weapons balancing.

I never played a Treyarch CoD before, so, i think Black Ops will be my first.

Treyarch has probably the largest free DLC for the PC in COD WAW; about 4g I think

Me, but a horrible experience most of the time.

Horrible in what sense? Behavior from other players? Latency issue?

The players are generally ok.

Just that i prefer normal mode, not hardcore, and all i get is only 32 players servers.

How to play on Killhouse when you spawn and die?

I wished there are larger maps or less max players per server.

Have you ever tried promod? Or stock mode is just your thing you were looking for? Killhouse is generally a unplayable map. I always skipped it unless I have p90, martydom, 3x frag and sonic bomb as one of my profile selection.

well activision is currently claiming that black ops mp will be better then mw2, so far iw has better story telling then treyarch, and now well gotta see what treyarch going to push for their BO, the E3 sp footages were not that interesting. but who knows they might make it more fun in that few months

I hate Killhouse so much, as it's just a spam fest map.

Usually just use a LMG with deep impact for random spraying. Still can kill some. I dont have 3x frag yet. I dont want to use Martydom, as it annoy the crap out of everyone on server.

Thats like one reason why i actually enjoyed MW2, as the maps are generally better designed but it can get quite lonely when everyone decides to camp.

I think BFBC2 is still my cup of tea.

I think there is no need for activision to claim about. BO mp is clearly a step ahead of MW2 even if you don't try to bring up the dedi server issue. My only concern is the weird looking radio controlled mini car N yea, the SP demo at E3 bores me to near death
attacking campers in MW2 is a good challenge to your skill(though campers are darn annoying). However, I personally think tubing or rpging is a little harder in MW2

It's not like DX10 or 11 isnt backwards compatible.

well most people think that if a game is dx 10 or 11 they assume it will run badly on their rig

Then, switch it to DX9.

There wont be any game that will be DX10 or DX11 only as 360 and PS3 are still using DX9. Except PC exclusive.
