New details

2-4 players co-op
The level called Black Cats in WaW is some of the memorable moments (include the music), so I am looking forward how they do with the SR-71 aka Black Bird.

Yes the final outcome of the Korean War is the line still drawn at the 38th Paralell but the entire Korean War is so much drama, with South Korean being push to the brink of collapse at the begining of the war, save by MacArthur, then Americans almost push the line all the way to the chinese border. Then China joins the fray and helping the North Korean getting back up to the 38th Parallel.

user posted image

I say this is a very interesing war as this is the first ever armed cold war confrontation with Soviet tanks vs American troops. There is no glorious win but the struggle for the 38th parallel is no short of epic.

how so? if north korea wins japan will be next on the chopping block by them.
*
Not necessary. You see if the North wins, it would indefinitely ignite fear amongst the populace of Japan and may lead to the revoke of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution which says that Japan shall never have a standing army(actually they do, just that they rename army into self defense force)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Article_9_of_...se_Constitution

The revoke of such article would enable Japan to enforce conscription as well increasing Japan image as a bulwark against North Korea aggression with the Chinese being reluctant to act upon North Korea. In short, Japan had a reason to remove the needle in the flesh that has been sticking for years.

Let's not forget that Japan would be the front line base of UN. This would in a way gives business opportunities for Japan to create weapons, vehicles and etc in preparation to response North Korea aggression. Wouldn't this make Japan kinda won even if North Korea overruns South Korea?

Depends on how good is the actual game, i think.

From what i heard, there are some people say Treyarch make better CoD than IW, as they are better on map design and weapons balancing.

I never played a Treyarch CoD before, so, i think Black Ops will be my first.
*
Treyarch has probably the largest free DLC for the PC in COD WAW; about 4g I think

well activision is currently claiming that black ops mp will be better then mw2, so far iw has better story telling then treyarch, and now well gotta see what treyarch going to push for their BO, the E3 sp footages were not that interesting. but who knows they might make it more fun in that few months
*
I think there is no need for activision to claim about. BO mp is clearly a step ahead of MW2 even if you don't try to bring up the dedi server issue. My only concern is the weird looking radio controlled mini car sweat.gif N yea, the SP demo at E3 bores me to near death

Are there any Australian Promod servers?

I hate Killhouse so much, as it's just a spam fest map.

Usually just use a LMG with deep impact for random spraying. Still can kill some. I dont have 3x frag yet. I dont want to use Martydom, as it annoy the crap out of everyone on server.

Thats like one reason why i actually enjoyed MW2, as the maps are generally better designed but it can get quite lonely when everyone decides to camp.

I think BFBC2 is still my cup of tea.
*
attacking campers in MW2 is a good challenge to your skill(though campers are darn annoying). However, I personally think tubing or rpging is a little harder in MW2

Here's snippets about the PC version:

https://twitter.com/JoshPeckler

- Steamworks
- 18 players for ranked, 24 players for unranked
- www.GameServers.com will be the exclusive provider of servers
- Matchmaking will just be the game just picking a random server and placing you in it
- Server browser will be improved

Source: http://www.shacknews.com/laryn.x?story=65409

And according to GameServers.com, there isnt any servers provided in SEA. Closest servers are in either Japan or Sydney. So, no local servers.

Thanks, Activision.

Subject: Will there be servers for South East Asi

Hi,

I am writing from Malaysia and I was told that www.GameServers.com will be
the exclusive provider of servers for COD Black Ops. However, I noticed
that you have servers nearest to South East Asia(SEA) which is Japan and
Australia. My question is will there be SEA servers for South East Asian
Black Ops gamers? Your reply would clear plenty of my doubts. Thank you.

Sincerely,
nipaa1412

The server files is exclusive to Gameservers.com. Narakka and BVPN have no access to them. BFBC2 was similar to this, but Fragnetics have the server files and we are able to host our servers at SEA.

As long as Gameservers.com do not have any hosted servers at SEA, we are pretty much GG.

Im ok, as their server is at Sydney, but when i come back, it's all gonna be lag.

I think the worst part is we have to use IWNet alike system when the rest using servers. That would definitely be epic fail.

Some of you may be extremely excited about the future release of the next installment of the newest installment of the Call of Duty franchise. The Black Ops [or "COD7"] installment appears to be very close to Modern Warfare 2 that was made by the basically defunct developer that went by the name of Infinity Ward. As things have gone in the past, Treyarch, the developer of COD: Black Ops, is basically taking the previous COD game engine and slightly tweaking it with new game modes and new maps and models. Personally, I’m not too big of a fan of these Treyarch games… but after what Activision and Infinity Ward did to MW2 on the PC… it’s hard to live up to worse expectations.

This leads us to today’s announcement - Call of Duty: Black Ops will definitely have dedicated servers. That is, as long as you get them from gameservers.com. We can compare that with Henry Ford's legendary statements that customers can have a car in any color as long as it’s black. The gameservers.com statement goes,
So, for those of you that thought that Treyarch and their announcement of dedicated servers would bring back life to the COD franchise, Activision appears to have made sure that they limited it to the point of not really being dedicated anymore. This appears to be yet another game that has been ruined by the narrow mindedness of management that only wants to see margins and deliver dates rather than a good game. This, in the end, will hurt Activision greatly as they are effectively killing off a franchise on a platform that it originally started on. Interestingly though, it looks like Activision Blizzard is desperate to repeat the curious case of Electronic Arts and their fall from grace.

If MW2 didn’t leave a bad taste in gamers’ mouths, there’s a good chance that the way Activision is handling Black Ops may. Here is also a new game play video of COD: Black Ops that was just released.

I think Treyarch did more homework than IW in the end. I mean look at CoD WAW. It has 4gig+ size DLC. Personally, lets take it with a light heart. There has been too much negative waves going around lately and Treyarch are just developers trying to earn a living too. Moreover, gameservers.com haven't rule out that there will be no servers in SEA(look at my post earlier). Gamers we may be but lets take things easy for the devs too.

well, personally I think both games will have server hosting issues

QUOTE(Cheesenium @ Sep 13 2010, 04:55 PM)
Well, it is confirmed that there is no local SEA servers.

Closest is Japan or Australia. Even Western Australia doesnt have any servers.

What Activision is doing is far worse than EA with BFBC2. One provider is too little.

Look at the location of the server farm.

No SG, MY or any SEA country.

Even they do have one aussie server farm, but one in Sydney is way too little, as they are like 400 CoD4 servers in Australia.

Im still not buying BO.
*
err you can refer to my previous post behind when I emailed them about the issue. They are still thinking out it.

More nazi zombies^^~

////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Treyarch's beloved addition of undead to the Call of Duty series looks to continue in the next entry, Call of Duty: Black Ops. Not exactly a surprise, but an returning feature apparently confirmed today by the game's strategy guide.

CVG spotted the inclusion of "Nazi zombie coverage" in the Brady Games official guide to Black Ops, which promises "a complete walkthrough to the gritty Cold War-era Campaign mode, tips and tricks to rank up in Multiplayer, how to excel in Co-Op, or fight back the relentless Nazi Zombie horde."

The Call of Duty: Black Ops web site GKNOVA6 is now teeming with Nazi zombie imagery, heralding an official confirmation of the popular gameplay mode. Who wants to place bets on mad Russian scientists mistakenly letting thousands of on-ice undead Nazis loose upon Black Ops players?

Also according to CVG, the new issue of Edge magazine features an interview with Treyarch's Mark Lamia, who claims that the Call of Duty developer has "continued to evolve [Nazi Zombies] after World At War."

"...There was a dialogue going on with some of our hardcore community, and we were able to interact with the community and evolve - we did that with our zombie lore," Lamia tells Edge.

Let's hope this doesn't rule out zombie Vietcong! Or is that a bad idea?

COD:MW is pretty much the last competitive game for COD series. COD:WAW just doesn't attract competitive players to move over and MW2 is more to casual play.
*
I think that is especially true for WAW. People gotten sick of WW2 games at the point when it was released.
