at first there was only 1 of it. then it slowly spread to become a bunch of them.
now the problem is, they are not always present as they come and go as they like.

and i have noticed the situation depends on pressure/altitude.
they spread like nobody's business when i'm at high altitude and less serious when i'm back down.
*
I see.
So, you're saying that if on the ground you will see a couple of the dead pixel.
But it will get worst if you're on a flight or on a high pressure/altitude level?

Does this dead pixel start to appear on your laptop AFTER you turned it on during a flight, or it already start to have one before you ever bring it on a flight?

I did carry it on a flight before last month, but didn't turn it on during the flight though.

So now it's on RMA?

not yet, cause this is my primary work machine and i have too many things to backup before i send it in.
furthermore the last i check with service centre, they need to take weeks to fix this cause the panel is not in stock.

How it looks like in high altitude:
[attachmentid=3027198]
[attachmentid=3027199]

How it looks like at home:
[attachmentid=3027200]
*
What da.. It looks bad on normal attitude.. It looks unbearable on high altitude..

Yeah, would do the same if I were you, coz I use mine for primary work machine too.

Hope it will never happen on mine though.

Do update us when you get it fixed.
Would like to hear how good the Sony support is.

Thanks for sharing, and good luck on the repair.

i guess i need to clarify that this problem did not start due to high altitude usage. It started when i'm on ground and then i notice the freaking pool of dead pixel spreading on high altitude.

Furthermore, my worst situation happens on a mountain not on flight as flight cabin is pressurized so the pressure differences is negligible.

Previous Full HD VAIO panel were mostly Sharp manufactured and are much better than this batch' TN display, which i highly suspected is Samsung's.

Damn i really hate the koreans.
*
Hahah. Not sure about the manufactures. But yeah, they are not that premium.

Yup, I did realized that once you share your picture(It doesn't seem like on a flight). biggrin.gif

enabled..does that mean i am able to leave the charger plug in charging while i am using?
not overcharging means not degrading the battery shelf life?
or shall i stick to my usual charging patterns that i charge only when the battery is low? after the battery is full, unplug the charger from the computer ?
*
What's the wear percentage?

i usually use whole day plugged in... but battery care is set to 80%...
*
I also plugged in the whole day even on 100%.
Did not use the battery care, coz I need that extra 20%, just in case.
Hopefully it can still last long. tongue.gif
After 3 months of use, the battery wear is still at 0.0%, and in Excellent condition shown in Vaio Care.

Wow you actually modded the new BIOS eh..that's splendid. Where did you get the Windows 8 online btw? Officially from Microsoft?
*
Yup, the new BIOS flashing tools took a little longer to flash than before though.
Just need to be more patience and pray longer. tongue.gif

Bought it directly from microsoft :
https://www.windowsupgradeoffer.com/en-MY

Then you will get the promo discount code.

Download the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant app, then buy it from there.

I'm tempted to be an early adopter like you, but I'm still hesitant till I'm sure all my games will function perfectly on Windows 8. Skyrim & Saints Row The Third are my primary concerns. It's great to know that the dragon still lives on in the new OS haha. tongue.gif
*
I can play all of the games that I've tested, though I haven't test all of them yet.
I can play Skyrim just fine. nod.gif
I don't own Saints Row, so I can't comment on that.

Oh that's some great news haha. I've tons of mods I hope it can be transferred just fine without any problems. Oh really...I've  seen complains over the net on how erratic Saints Row The 3rd performs on Win 8. Mind telling me which games you've tried so far?
Woot you're in the SSD gang too haha. How much is the 512GB ver?
*
I've only tried, Borderlands 2, Dirt Showdown, Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, CS GO, and Skyrim.
Some are merely testing, not fully tested.

It's better that you search the internet for the games you've owned, so you can get better information on the compatibility. smile.gif

Thanks Amal. I've checked & seems like many can run Saints Row The Third just fine on Windows 8 Pro, only few had problems with it. Worth giving it a shot heh. By the way I wonder if it's possible to pay using a Debit Card with MasterCard logo on it. I'll have to pay RM50 for the upgrade right? Thanks again.
*
Yeah, around RM50.
Not really sure about the debit card there, by right you can. tongue.gif

Thanks dude. Since I've OCed my graphic card, do I need to do anything prior to the upgrade to Win 8 Pro? I know that I have to re OC once I've installed the Win 8 Pro due to diff BIOS right?
*
When I upgraded to Windows 8, the old BIOS still work as per normal.
If there isn't any issue at all with the old BIOS, maybe you should leave it as it is, for now.

The new BIOS that I've MODded are not actually for our Malaysian Model.
If you download for drivers and software for Windows 8, there isn't any BIOS file to be downloaded at all.
It works, yes, but I still don't know what are the changes made with the new BIOS. tongue.gif

Anyway, just saw someone did a video on Need For Speed Most Wanted on the Vaio S, running on stock GT 640M LE.
Since got nothing to do, so I've decided to do a test video using the BIOS MOD to compare the fps.

Here are the video :

Stock GT640M LE - Created by androiddindang

1000/1000 MOD GT640M LE - Created by me

So, those thinking of playing nfs most wanted on a MODded BIOS, don't worry.
Just that we can't max it at full settings. sweat.gif

Now that's tempting too  icon_idea.gif Hey dude do you experience any issues with Fn buttons? Somehow the VAIO related stuffs doesn't alwiz function well on my laptop after I updated to Windows 8 Pro. Biggest problem now is that sometimes when i hold the Fn button n press the F1-F12 keys nothing happens.
*
Mine works well though after the upgrade.
Heard that you have to install the shared library if you have issues with the Fn shortcut.

I've somehow isolated the issue & found the real problem. Whenever I wake my laptop up after putting the computer on standby/sleep mode, the Fn buttons ceased to work. It will only work again after I restart the VAIO Event Service. Hmm enlighten me on the shared library, I know nothing of this matter.  cry.gif  Thanks.

Download from the Sony website :

Select Windows 7 instead of Windows 8

I'm not sure whether it'll work though. tongue.gif

I've tried redlding & reinstalling it, but to no avail.  sad.gif  I thought of doing a clean Windows 8 install this weekend. Seems like a straight upgrade from Win 7 wasn't a good idea after all. Hopefully by then it's fixed. Just wondering, did you perform a clean install or an upgrade?
*
I did a straight upgrade.

Am thinking of getting the S series 13" with 750gb HDD and nvidia GT640 GC. is this a good balance for work and playing games?

does it get hot?
*
It is a good balance for work and gaming.
But, if you could wait a little longer, please do so.
New Haswell CPU and 7 series nvidia GPU is coming up in a month or two.
