depends on different people. To me ill go for first batch because its a challenge for me. Imagine if life is so perfect everything would be dull and boring. Seek ways to solve a problem, seek ways how to overcome problem. seek ways to share with problems and possible of u discovering and understanding something will be more than others
*
but if it's a hardware problem it cant really be solved apart from throwing it back to service centre to fix/exchange

It all depends whether the 1st batch is really THAT faulty. However, I'm those who likes 1st Batch. My N95 still serves me well...
*
n95 no issue..the older products all have good QC, recent though, dunno why phones would have problems one

they will always launch with iphone?
*
better not, cos nokia's marketting is never as good as apple, launching at the same time will only cause direct comparison with iphone 4G which somehow apple's marketting gonna make it looks 10x better then the N8...so better avoid that

well...see the sales amount, that's why i say it's pure marketing, although most user are happy with it...
most ppl, including me, interested in iphone is just purely because of the amount of apps, and the game graphics...of coz, this phone will beat my purpose to it, if the game titles keep coming that it

well, yeah, they manage to con consumers to get, then drag a whole bunch of software company to develop for them, and right now, even with lacking of key feature and outdated hardware, it still sells like hot cake, it's because of application availability...the only one that can match in near future is gonna be android

symbian open source d so i wont worry bout apps.i think it will growing rapidly soon.i meant, the number of apps.
*
still depends, nokia need to create a lot of hypes on this phone, make consumers tempted, and then try to drag major devs to develop for OVI store, just like apple's tactic...or else i'd say the number will grow, but it will not be rapid...

so in other words THX is better than dolby? tongue.gif btw late summer means around august right?
*
to put it simple, Dobly is about how u do it, the method, where THX is what u product, the result

Dobly doesnt care the result as long as u implement your sound processing using their method, where THX, doesnt really care how u process the sound, as long as it meets their defined standard in sound quality

Actually I am very very doubt about it can play HD smoothly... If included Multichannels audio codec, the doubt are even higher...

the ONLY reason why it use HDMI I can think of is ONLY they wanna output the HD(720p) recorded video...

.mkv? in low resolution maybe.. in 720p or 1080p.. forget it...
*
this one have many factor, the profile they use, the bitrate, the compression method...
i believe that it could play smooth in 720p, cos even with OMAP 3430, 720p playback is already smooth, not to mention playing it on OMAP 3630, which is higher spec

from my understanding on existing symbian^1 and the N8's symbian^3, the kernal will still be similar, if not the same, all they did was optimize the codings, polish the UI, so i bet most the symbian^1 apps would still work on it, personally, i hope garmin would work on it...don really wanna rely on that OVI maps, i heard the accurate aint as good...

however i think they could just use some prettier icons, cos although the s60v5 icons are nice to look, it kinda feels out dated when it was used on a new OS..

hmm..2k, maybe can make it by then....yeah happy.gif

btw just read back about the arguement in CPU vs GPU decoding...for those that don understand, pls google software decode vs hardware decode or something..GPU, even low ends ones, are capable of much higher computing power compared to ur CPU, there's various sites that benchmarked, with CPU, 1080p is laggy and frameskipping, and it's on full load(100% usage), and when they turn on hardware acceleration(GPU decode), not only did the CPU usage went as low as to almost idle(cos there are other programs that are running as well), the video played smoothly...hardware acceleration is very good in terms of performance and also cutting down battery usage, and imagine something that can render OpenGL2.0 graphics, i bet the performance is dunno how many times better then the 680Mhz CPU...so, yeah, GPU > CPU

By far GPU computing power are much higher than a CPU in x86 architecture...  All what u said are correct in term of a normal PC... But power consumption, GPU is one of the highest drainer of Power in PC...

But not exactly sure in term of mobile word....  how's the CPU vs GPU computing power...  but 1 thing for sure, with GPU, the hardware decoding help a lot...

Added on May 24, 2010, 11:32 amBASED on GSMarena...  the phone now available for pre-order.. Euro470....  today EURO - RM = 4.115..  so.. 470 x 4.2 = RM1974....

Look like some of us hoping for RM1300 - 1400 region are ... ... ... ..
*
well, what u said is true, power consumption is another angle to see this..i guess the GPU with 720p will drain battery fast...but look at it this way as well, to be fair, i don think that mere 680Mhz CPU will be able to deliver the smooth 720p , as a Atom 1.6Ghz also failed to do so..so for N8 it's more like GPU is the only way to archive that..so, if u really wanna cut down the battery usage...i suggest, don use 720p at all

nor the HDMI playback....
so u're safe...but spamming the camera also will drain battery quite fast one

resolution still a let down if everything is come out fine...  sad.gif

well to be fair its res is already sharp enough...extra pixel would bring more stress to GPU on gaming, and smaller fonts...
i think 600 x 360 is best for its screen size
