Suspect TMNut using new method to throttle eMule.
But after 1am everything back to normal, good speed until morning.

hey YiQi, before this i'd experience low d/l speed during the day, but it didn't bother me much because the speed will come after midnight.

but nowadays speeds are low even during non-peak hours.

are you getting speeds of around 100kb?

It's true. D/L speed will be particularly low during peak hours in day time. hmm.gif

I can't tell I can reach the speed to 100kb because my download files are not those popular stuff.
But defintely, the speed is much much better than peak hours.
The difference I found are:

After 1am, I am able to (which is not possible or not easy in daytime)

1. Connect to most of the Servers without lowid, easily
2. Get lots of peers in my list
3. Get connected to peers more easily and download speed is good

The difference is very sinicficant.

BTW, I run utorrent at the same time, and you can see the difference easily also.
Usually, you will:
1. Saw lots of peers number in swarm list, but very few in connected (active) list,
and most of them are M'sia peers
2. Very hard to get connected, once connected, very hard to get a good speed and discoonected easily
but after 1am, everything is different, all peers suddently come in, and speed went up....
and peers are from all over the world.....

My emule now is stuck at 2-8kbps. Connection all protocol obfuscated only. Been happening for the past few weeks.

Now this is the ironic thing about TmNet. If they can break the emule protocol obfuscation, that should make them among the most advance ISP in the world, in terms of throttling their user line.

As far as service quality goes, they are still the first from the rear end.

As some of you may have notice, DonkeyServers are not indexing any files at the "moment". Where there will be no source/reask from the server, and search was result-ed empty, even with global server option selected. Nobody know what's going on with the donkeys now, hope is not something bad.. For more discussion, pls follow the link below.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Clear all you servers in the list (right click>remove all)
Then, update the server.met (on the right side of servers page) with this url:

http://www.gruk.org/server.met

Now, don't connect to DonkeyServer and any pink server from this list till we know what's going on

Music industry takes on operators of eDonkey servers

http://www.heise.de/english/newsticker/news/92760

On Friday the German music industry celebrated a partial victory in its fight against the illegal distribution of music on the Internet. A temporary injunction issued by the District Court (LG) in Hamburg and served to the operator of an eDonkey server had "ordered the said operator to take his computer off-line for as long as the range of music files offered for download via the server contains illegal files," the German Chapter of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) declared (File Number 308 O 273/07). The way of describing the case chosen by the Chapter is a highly abridged version of events, however. As a matter of fact, in the case dealt with by the court in Hamburg, the operator was only prohibited from distributing the songs contained on one album of one band.

According to the IFPI the district courts in Frankfurt-on-the-Main and Düsseldorf have issued similar orders to operators of servers. "We shall in future take legal action against any operator of a P2P network server who makes tracks available illegally," Peter Zombik, the Director of the German Chapter of the IFPI, said on Friday. It was "sad to see the inherently beneficial P2P network technology still being used to violate copyright on a massive scale -- the availability of appropriate filtering technology notwithstanding," he added.

Because the eDonkey servers do not themselves offer the files that are being shared the plaintiffs in their complaints against the operators have to rely on the legal notion of disturber liability. Thus according to the opinion of the court the operator of the server had "willingly and in a causal fashion assisted in the illegal disturbance," without himself having been perpetrator or participant. At the very latest after the receipt of a warning letter from the copyright holders the operator must have been aware that copyright violations were being committed and should have "taken effective measures" to prevent any such violations from occurring in future, the court declared.

While talking to heise online the IFPI spokesman Stefan Michalk said that the Federation believed that it was now up to the Internet Access Providers to do their part. This was "the direction" future legal steps would be moving in, he remarked. The music industry could wield the notion of disturber liability to force providers to implement technical measures for blocking access to illegal tracks in P2P networks, he observed. The similar efforts of Belgian copyright holders have of late been crowned with a first legal victory. (Robert W. Smith) / (jk/c't)
