Confirm working.. I build and tested one unit using the same board and processor and it is running without a flaw.. Tho I'm not sure the board I'm using is running on what bios version.. But as far as I know, the normal retail sold motherboard dont have problem supporting the processor.. Another 2 board I tested is an Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 + Gigabyte Z77m-d3h
*

is it as wat I said, display GHz only? or they really show full name ?

With the latest cpu-z I tested plus what Window show me, it all display the full name plus speed of the processor..

The only thing I have not test are those H61, P67 and Z68 boards with bios that can support IvyBridge.. Although some of those board cpu list do list support for the Core i Ivys, but I did not notice the Xeon Ivy listed..

But the problem does not appear for Z77 which I can confirm..

hello, im not sure this is the place to ask.

i want to upgrade my proc from  pentium e5300 to  intel quad  9400. is it posible? im not sure my mobo since im using acer desktop. OS Windows basic 32 bit

or should i just buy new mobo n i3  2100 proc?

i want to play latest game like MW3.

pliss help. im newbie.tq

from intel E5300 to Q9400 i think its possible depend on what mobo model because both r using same socket 775.

but Q9400 very hard to find these days myabe u can hunt it in garage sales...

if u can afford to buy new mobo+processor why not go for intel H61 board pair with Intel i3 2100 as u plan...

the perfomance in gaming will be atleast double then your current setup...

btw what is your current GC?

Can I switch between gpu and i-gpu anytime? Gpu is HD 7970 and cpu is i5 3570k. For Nvidia lappy, it called as Nvidia Optimus IINM. What I mean is totally depend on i-gpu, not only some application, and HD 7970 disabled as a gpu.

But does it disable dgpu? What I'm trying to say is use igpu as gpu and disable dgpu without removing dgpu from pcie slot.

Mostly yes, it does disable your dGPU.
You can set how Virtu MVP works on your own, on games or other intense 3D applications, your computer will switch to your dGPU. On 2D applications like web browsing, you'll be using the iGPU.

Google up for more info on how to set them to work that way.

Completed this build in under an hour. Easiest SFF/mini-ITX case to work with so far. Haven done any serious testing yet but it is very quiet compared to my mid-tower ATX case.

i5 3750k
Zotac Z77-ITX Wifi A-E
8gb Kingston Value Ram 667mhz (lol!)
Intel 330 SSD
WD Caviar Blue 1TB
Arctic Freezer 7 Rev.2 (zzz)
Win8 Consumer Preview (yay!)

was gonna put in my ati5850 while waiting for a new gtx670...

About RM2.5k-ish (reuse old lcd, mouse & keyboard)

Removed a total of ~8-10screws to clear the deck for future video card. 4screws for board and 2 screws for cpu cooler. Otherwise, its a totally tool free build.

Win8 installed in like...5mins? (via USB stick)

BitFenix Prodigy case is very nice. Big. But still nice. smile.gif
