Bought it at compuzone smile.gif

Anyways couldn't manage to test the oc capabilities yet as one of my memory stick malfunction for no reason lol.

Althought i clicked "Performance mode" in the asus bios and it's automatically oc to 4.4ghz prime 95 stable but didn't bother checking  the temperature as I haven't install my new cooler.
*
4.4ghz with auto? hmm.gif Do more OC and share. icon_idea.gif Do you mind to tell how much is the price? I read somewhere IB will be cheaper than SB.

u gonna wait the real release and people reviewing it extensively. But it is best to say in almost all situation Ivy bridge offer 10% performance gain even @ same clock.
*
Hopefully IB can do better in OC. For non OCer, seems like IB is good deal. But for OCer on air cooler, let's just wait for real review.

Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 vs GA-Z77X-D3H , which one better ?
Gigabyte is just RM 10 extra 480 while asrock RM 469
*
I prefer this:

P8Z77-V PRO (My future mobo)

Downside; RM 6**. Good side; some claim Asus better than Asrock (no offense) but for me, it's just a luck, right? brows.gif

Anyone know about it ?

yeh , too expensive. RM6++ is very expensive here. IF 1155 support haswell will be good , but doubt it will.
*
According to Intel Z77 Chipset Launch Roundup, Asrock can do better than Maximus V Gene, lower voltage. My theory lower voltage, lower temp. hmm.gif I'm not o.c pro. Maybe wait for the sifu answer?

So guys? What do you think? SB or IB for air cooler overclocker? Some claimed 4.6Ghz IB are equal to 5Ghz SB? Is that any true? Kinda disappointed because I'm planning to go for Intel build this time and I wait for quite a time for IB, BUT... there it goes the temp issue.

QUOTE(cybersans @ Apr 24 2012, 04:35 PM)
all the reviews are made by testing the ENGINEERING SAMPLE chips. don't you think consumer chip will be based on engineering sample? there are reason they sent engineering sample to testers. and thats the reason. heat issue, bla bla bla.

then you think the problem will be put in the consumers chip? come on. doh.gif

for example, windows 8 developer/consumer preview, people test, and find bla bla bla. are you think microsoft will release the same version as final retail products??? *SIGH*  whistling.gif

p/s: ...and again, like my a-year-statement, if money is not an issue, just buy it.  whistling.gif
*
Based on what you said, is Cyntrix also sell the ES chips? hmm.gif Because he also claim that IB having issue with high temp for oc'ing. As you can see here;
Cyntrix IB build

QUOTE(Bombgen @ Apr 24 2012, 05:09 PM)
But some seller here sell the IB already, did they sell the engineering sample?
*
Yeah dude... I have the same thoughts with you too. It's not just Cyntrix. There are few other seller already have this thing in their store. Let's hope what cybersans said is true... sweat.gif

oh my bad, i didn't realize someone already test the retail chip  whistling.gif

like previous sandybridge, many sites claim that it is bla bla and bla. after a year i use that chip, i can say 90% of claims that they made were ridiculous, annoying, and may i speak frankly, too much bullsh*t, and based on self-experience. my point is, you buy, you test, and you will know.

...and again, those only apply to whom doesn't care about reviews, reviews and reviews. have a money, go to shop, buy, assemble it, and use it. after that you will know.

people will not know what will happen if not experience it. it is like to hear a sad story from a person who has a bad luck on something. doesn't mean you will fall into the same problem wink.gif
*
I'm afraid it turn to AMD FX story. I buy this AM3+ mobo because I'm planning to get the bulldozer. But when it released, oh crap. Before the release, there is a lot of leaked story claim it's a fail etc. As for me, I wouldn't be the guinea pig. Let's wait for other first. But from what I see, SB perform better than IB for oc'er. Can't wait for official oc review... Still saving my money icon_rolleyes.gif

From what I understand, IB was never meant to be a big leap from SB.

In regard to heat issue, I still have this last hope that hoping it's the software/bios are the one having trouble reading the correct temps.
Because many user including Cynxxxch saying that they do not feel the "real" heat coming out from the processsor.
I guess if it's really a 90c temp, you can literally feel it.
*
90c are really warm. Trust me... I oc'ed my Phenom and when it's 90c, the air are warm. The main reason I still not buy SB is due to the temp issue. Unless, it's proven IB really have temp issue, then I'll go for SB. Just wait and patient.

So this showed that it is not the badly contacted IHS nor cheapo TIM paste the culprits of the hot temp but something unseen is happening inside the cores that cause the heat issues.

just cancelled my pre-order with a seller here in JB. charged me rm880. luckily he let me change order to other stuffs.  doh.gif

Why cancel? Too expensive? What I do is compare the price at LYN. Then try to nego with seller here. At East Malaysia, we always get thing around RM 50-100 expensive then West Malaysian price. Very2 unlucky for us huh? doh.gif Eg; I bought Corsair SP 2500 from LYN, price is RM 680. But at Sarawak, it's RM 750 and another one offer me RM 799 shocking.gif shakehead.gif Felt like we are manipulated but of course the seller will say postage are expensive and please don't compare the price to West Malaysia market and many more of excuse. It's just like Malaysian IT dealer said don't compare Malaysia price with US price. Maybe what I post is out of topic but just want to share about the hardware price issue. doh.gif icon_rolleyes.gif Sorry2... I already type and feel too bad if I didn't post biggrin.gif

Guys, I'd been doing observation and I decide to get myself i5 2500k. However, should I use Z68 or Z77 board? Is there any chance Z77 board will support coming Intel cpu? Or perform better than Z68 board? Of course I'm going to oc, and the reason I avoid IB is due to temp issue.

z77 supports pci-e 3.0 and of course intel 3rd gen processor. recommended to go for z77, as im sensing that your concern would be the socket 1155 with the new socket 2011.
*
rclxub.gif Any benefit of pci-e 3.0? Did some google but the answer is yes and no doh.gif
