Lol I like that. Can't wait to see the 'exclusively by kotmj'. When is it scheduled to be ready?

a really good project manager is devillishly evasive at setting deadlines, especially with projects of a developmental/experimental nature

You know, following Mark Cho's example, I am thinking of buying up MBT. Will then turn it into Malaysia's largest tailoring enterprise. Will make MBT sign a 5-year contract (he's only 50+) to stay on as well as provide him with equity. I think 10X present year's earnings would make him sign. The guy has no successor anyway, and his customer list would be worthless if he retires.

It should be possible to triple revenue within 12 months. I've been there so many times and have only seen one other customer. Very phak woo ying. The guy is an abnormally talented fitter.

Went to my first fitting session at ALT today. Anything wrong with this suit?

Apparently my right arm is longer than my left, and my right arm is bigger compare to my left arm, thus you can see the difference it make on the suit.
*
It is pretty good for a first fitting for first suit. The sleeves' curvature at the front looks optimal. The back of the sleeves looks good but could be tweaked (straightened). I also like the front chest width. Is there sufficient back width? No idea. Cannot see a thing.

Back balance had to be shortened 3/4" as have been pinned, but I suspect there is also a dropped right shoulder he is hoping you would not notice.

Have you tried sitting down on a chair in those trousers? You should because he likes cutting overly slim trousers which only become apparent when you try sitting down in them.

It is not clear how well the collar fits since your shirt collar was not buttoned and the back pic was overexposed. I get the impression the collar should be higher.

Sleeves as usual should be 1/4" to 1/2" shorter. Trousers 1" shorter.

That is all I can tell from the pics. If I see it in person I will no doubt discover more things especially with the trousers which is often given low priority by customers and therefore also tailors.

Is the Dunhill cloth what you hoped it would be? Did you give the secret handshake to get the gimp?

I might be at ALT next Saturday with another forumer.

However, your trousers are right now already being made up. You will not see them at your next fitting session.

Seems to have great potential but also lots of holes in the brain like gouda cheese.

I cannot live a normal life with shirt cuffs that low on the palm. Unlike himself, I actually use my hands. I use them to grasp things. Shirt cuffs like those get in the way.

I also cannot imagine what Cheenoo and Lokemui would say if I bought footwear like that.

My shirt cuffs are like this:

I have a Domanchi suit I bought from Pavilion. When I first put it on I was astonished by well well it fitted and how youthful the cut was, not one of these uncle suits you see uncles wearing to trade fairs with their entry passes hanging from their necks.

But I never wore it out. Too shiny, too slim, too fashion forward... would have been OK if I had a more junior job but my first job out of uni was as a manager so no way I was gonna look like a college kid in a cheap suit...

Worth a look? its not the KFW you guys were talking about right?

That's a very nicely written article. Not to New York Times level, but in the top percentile in a country where people do not know how to write.

If you've met Mr Kwong in person you would not guess he is 63-years old. I thought he was 10 years younger.

We discussed exactly this topic on Sat in PapaRich near ALT.

BTW, AL now has a second coatmaker. His original coatmaker seems to now do exclusively FC stuff (and is running at full capacity).

Added on August 23, 2011, 8:31 pmA Malay guy (not The Capitalist, though his DB is also ready for collection) has a FC suit there waiting for pickup. It is quite awesome. The buttonholes were made using my gimp (I wonder if he gave the secret handshake?) and silk thread. The lapels were profusively padded. Horn buttons. His own mid grey worsted.

Another guy went for a DB in house navy kid mohair. FC.

Look at the signboard on his shop... it clearly says KFW. And dont worry about his shop, its saved.

I'm disappointed. "Chinatown" is a stupid joke of a place. Dirty, inhospitable, chock-full of traffic, and full of foreign workers. A goddamned slum.

I was hoping they would clear the area and rebuild a new, modern Chinatown -- one that is architecturally inspired by the old but which has much higher urban values and which people would go to like they would to any shopping mall or townships like Solaris and actually enjoy the experience. Essentially like the way OldTown has shown us how the modern Malaysian Chinese coffeeshop should look and feel like.

i'm confused because in the article it says KFH not KFW. Well we'd know why his suits are so slow to siap. Probably worrying about no longer having a shop.

How much does ALT charge for a suit nowadays? I have yet to make my navy SB and may just take the plunge there

What have you guys been tweaking before this? This suit looks like it is in the first fitting stage, not final fitting.
