It's unbelievable that there are readers who know about the shop but could not be bothered to tell us --- until I did a partial unveiling.

At least in tailoring, you will actually starve if you rely on word-of-mouth of your customers.

looks like kotmj has some competition for the position of sifu here.

so, are either of you going to reveal the name of the tailor?

anyway sifus, between ALT, MBT and this other dude, who do you think makes the best suit without direction?

i have been making my suits at lord's for a while now. boringly consistent. thinking of trying someone new.

What competition?

maybe what you need is not a new tailor but more adventurous fabrics. checks, summery linens, something with silk in it for the shimmer. or maybe a db. would love to see lords do a db.

to attract other men, you'd need to be sexy. otherwise, you'd need to be alpha, not sexy. look at sean penn. not sexy but alpha and he is getting the ass we all saw in lost in translation.

checks and dbs are alpha.

Added on May 3, 2011, 5:55 pmnot small timid checks but big and loud checks like what The Capitalist likes.

the capitalist gets a lot of everything.

alright, in the interest of the sartorial salvation of my landsmen, i shall put here a strong clue as to MBT's identity. No doubt there is someone who can identify him from the way he tacks buttons, or manipulates the sewing machine...

Oh no, A&S has a very bad reputation. I think Maurice Sedwell and Henry Poole (in that order) are the best regarded.

Added on May 7, 2011, 10:18 pmYou may also want to consider Edward Sexton, which is not on the Row but is quite legendary.

Must have been an inexpensive cloth.

The whole suit-wearing community is waiting with bated breath for pics of your new suit.

Did you have any particular request or will it be in his house cut?

Absolutely hate the trousers, but here you have Edward Sexton. Why is he wearing an apron? And notice he has to get his pins from a table, not from a little pin cushion on his arm, how inconvenient.

Looks promising

Added on May 19, 2011, 12:22 amThough again you picked a really thin fabric. Thin fabrics are no good.

QUOTE(pasquinel @ May 20 2011, 10:42 PM)
Mentioned the sleeves to him on the first fitting. Also mentioned the seams along the length of the sleeve are coming out to the front of the sleeve.
He said he would take it all apart and that the first fitting was to see how the whole thing draped.

The overall jacket is a bit sack-like at the moment. Let's see what can be done with the gorge and button stance once the sack fits a little better.
Could you elaborate on the re-cutting of the gorge?
*
Do nothing of the sort. Just say you want a shapely jacket that emphasizes the chest and waist. A clean back, and enough "lai foo ying" at the rear armsyce for upper body range of motion.

Wow, The Capitalist is really going places!

Those who think CEOs do not frequent forums have not lurked in forums dedicated to luxury German and Italian cars before.

Since you will be photographed in suits at various times over multiple days, this is the time to show the rake that you are.

You want to show that you know how to dress for the specific occasion and have a wardrobe large enough to enable that. Lighter coloured suits for day time, more interesting ties, brown shoes, light blue shirts (no checked shirts with suits!!!!!).
Dark suits for evenings. White shirts for evenings only. Black Oxford captoes.

For interviews in inherently casual locations (resorts or at home), do the sportsjacket look. SC, cotton or linen trews, driving mocassins.

Added on May 25, 2011, 12:00 amThere is a chance The Capitalist will end up as "Best Dressed CEO" someday on say Malaysian Tatler. The race begins now.
