Oh well, all I hope now is that Chelsea goes on to win the title else this 3 points loss will be all but wasted. Sorry United fans, thanks for your 'good luck' wishes but I guess it's time we give it back to you. Actually then again, I take that bad, I hope you guys lose tonight, then at least some of you would stop the Gerrard accusations. Bloody trolls.

Moving on, here's my thoughts about the game and season as the whole.

1) Carra leaving the field injured sums our season up pretty much. Correct me if I'm wrong, the only outfield, first team player who is free of injury this season is Lucas and a crisis this magnitude can destroy any team's season. What's worse is that the World Cup finals is coming and our key players - Torres, Gerrard, Mascherano and Johnson are playing in teams who are favourites to win. What this means is that they're definitely going to tire themselves out. Worrying scenario, the new doctor might be a good sign for things to come.

2) Rafa. I admire to him to be honest. Really really admire him. There are not many managers out there who would come into a club and announce that he wants to building a long-term future. Him going all the way to gain control of the academy and overhaul it have shown his genuine interest in youth development. And he knows what he's talking about, having a good track record in Real Madrid B (???? I stand corrected). Some of his younger players like Insua, Lucas and N'gog have shown potential. But the question is, can this overcome Rafa's shortcomings? I'm on the fence for this one but what makes the dilemma even tougher is that if Rafa leaves, who will be our replacement? We can't afford proven coaches like Jose, so are we ready for another gamble?

3) Rafa mentioned that we need 5-6 players to bring our team back on track. In a way I do agree, seeing that Voronin and Dossena haven't got their replacements yet. Aurelio too even for his standards had a injury hell of a season and Degen is simply not good enough. Rafa had to gamble on free transfers like them and sometimes it pays off sometimes it don't. In Aurelio's case, it has but I'm afraid we desperately need a reliable LB. In Degen's case, a flop.

4) Age. We have an aging squad, not at Chelsea's level but we're slowly approaching there. Kuyt, Carra, Benayoun and Gerrard are in their 30s next season and ask yourself this, do we have potential replacements for their positions? Gerrard - Aquilani? Carra - Skrtel? Benayoun/Kuyt - (Couldn't be Rodriguez and definitely not El Zhar)? Still early days to worry but next 2 seasons are gonna be the transition to their successors. Will they be able to step up to the challenge?

Any thoughts and comments are welcomed.

In our current situation, Rafa going is not a solution. The new manager is going to face the same problem Rafa endured - lack of funds. Ultimately Liverpool can only survive when Hicks & Gillet leave.

bro on num 4 opinion.. i'm pretty sure the will be a new side player who will replacing benny/kuyt.. maxi is short term.. el zhar will be sold sooner or later.. and i dont think skrtel can make it especially with this kind of situation and plus we keep linkin with a new cb.. he hardly to feature on match.,, does he badly injured?

@led zep - i know what u mean.. im a big RAFALUTION fan.. he is trying hard to gain control on every aspect of the club. having a hard owners doesnt help him.. and coaching a club with a great history, comes with a big pressure.. he is trying hard.. we seriously need the money to buy young, potential talents, not to give him big payout... its time to move on, this time built a team around torres, not gerrard..

for me, benitez should go to Juve and see new management to the team.....

i just hope special one can come to liverpool and new management will somehow give us hope on new stadium and new player......

YNWA...its just sad that we are out of CL next season but i like us to be pure title contender next season......

@leaf - yea! heres something to always remember -
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone..
