Had a small tea party with Eric (a tea kaki friend from penang), our Chaossisxy and teng_all yesterday night. We drank a few pu, but this is worth mentioning.

This tea has a unique taste. The tea aroma is special, no smokiness, no bitterness, clean. This tea basically doesn't have much taste on the first 5 brew. It was light, but from the 6th brew onward the tea starts to perform. It's colour turns darker and is quite dark too from then. We drank up to about 10 brews and it still holds on and gets better. It can still continue, but we decided to change tea due to shortage of time.

The method of brewing is to soak it. Each brew was soak for about 3 to 5 minutes. Eric likes his tea to be soaked to test its performance, and this tea really can perform well even with soaking for so many brews.

I tasted this Pu sometime ago at a teashop (JDX), and the brewing method was using the usual no soaking method and it was totally a waste cause we stop at about 5th brew. This is probably the first pu that I tasted that shows it performance after so many brews later. I am impressed.

Tea courtesy of Eric. Thank you very much smile.gif

PS: I will be going to try it again at JDX this Sat biggrin.gif

50 years old high mountain oolong (courtesy of Eric - Penang).

user posted image

This was bought by him when he was at Taiwan.

This is the first time I tasted such an old oolong. How does it taste? Very similar to those 'Lao Wei' / old taste (woody) puerh. You probably wouldn't know it is oolong, if wasn't told so.

After drinking this, it basically covers away all the previous tea that we had earlier. There isn't much aftertaste on the throat. The taste is more on the inner mouth area. But after drinking this, even breath has the 'Lao Wei' and lasted so long. Feels so good...

after 3th days drinking from antique tea cups. The feel is superb. I can almost feel the tea dancing with joy in the cups. For before eternally drank by me they have fill a 100years old vessel (the cup). There are tea ages for 10 years, 20 years or 50 years. But to drink from a 100years cups, regardless the ages of tea have a kind of peaceful feel to it.

Only 4 tea. Not enough time. I was expecting more, but our penang friend's brewing technique is soak, so very slow per infusion.

Didn't have sample, so no tasting. But I was told by the tea shop guy that this is actually quite good. I smell the leaves, it has a very nice smell. Material is from Bulang Mountain.

I bought it because it is cute. I don't intend to drink this. Going to be a display item smile.gif

Chinese medicine doctor recommends drinking tea to combat radiation
http://focustaiwan.tw/ShowNews/WebNews_Det...ID=201103160047

2011/03/16 22:57:36

Taipei, March 16 (CNA) Want a good tip to fend off the threat of radiation poisoning? The answer is to drink more tea, said a Chinese medicine doctor Wednesday.

Lu Chih-hong, president of the Sheng Te Tang Chinese Medical Hospital in Taichung City, central Taiwan, suggested the public take more tea to avoid the effects of radioactive fallout that may come from Japan.

Tea, a common agricultural and medicinal product in Taiwan, contains a variety of substances, including Camaellia sinensis, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and lipopolysaccharide, that can help people combat the effects of radiation.

According to Lu, Camaellia sinensis is the main substance that helps human bodies discharge radiation contamination. C. sinensis can absorb as much as 90 percent of the radioisotopes in the human body and discharges it before it reaches the bone marrow. He added that C. sinensis also helps human bodies take up Vitamin C more effectively, creating more blood and making capillary blood vessels more resilient. This reduces the possibility of getting Jod-Basedow syndrome, a hyperthyroid disease one can acquire after taking potassium iodide to combat radiation poisoning.

Master Sheng Lun, who has dedicated many of his years to organic farming, said drinking tea is even more helpful than taking potassium iodine tablets, because tea prevents radioactive materials from being absorbed into the body and accelerates the body's metabolism of such substances.

He suggested the public consume organic tea because it contains no residue of pesticides. (By S. C. Hau and Flor Wang) enditem/ly
